Paul Milsap

I was checking out JT's stats and one of the split stats was interesting.

He averages 9.8 boards with 3+ days rest in 26 minutes as apposed to 6.3 with one day of rest in the same amount of time.

Granted the 3+ days rest had a small sample size (4 games, haha)...BUT, I wonder if his conditioning is a factor? He's having to play more games as a pro. I wonder if we'll see a spike in rebounding next season by JT.

I really like Millsap, he's a banger and a hustles....But JT's play has me hesitant to get behind locking someone up at the PF position.

That being said, I'd take Millsap over Boozer. haha

martins contract was the going rate for his production... we would end up paying a player the same amount for the same numbers at his position... look at iggy. and martin goes to the ft line more than most players in the league. if we had a decent team he would be great to have at his price. do you want to pay redd, carter, mcgrady or allen twice as much for the exact same numbers....

milsap is a decent role player at best... he's just like salmons, plays well while getting starters minutes and is useless coming off the bench... he'd be a great back up on a contending team like the celtics, cavs or spurs. but is useless on a team like the kings. i like him but we dont need him. i remember back when kenny thomas first came to the kings, his numbers were almost identical to milsaps.... what he brings to the table is the easiest thing to replace in the nba.... undersized back up pf that hustles.... i like him but we dont need him.

Easiest thing to replace in the NBA? A cap clogging MLE guy? Seriously...take another look at how this guy is performing. There are exactly 3 PF outrebounding him this year:
Murphy
Duncan
Bosh
When starting, only Murphy beats his average by .2 rebounds

He's 11th among PF in scoring and 7th if you use his starting #s.

He is leading all PF in the league in FG %

And this is a bench guy? A role player?

Kenny Thomas never came close to these numbers in his very best year. Give me a break.

thats now while hes not making any money... remember dampiers numbers before he got his check from cuban.... 12/12 and 2 blocks.... now hes averaging 6/7 over the last 5 years...

Ah, Millsap. I loved him in college - watched him all the time. Led the nation in rebounding twice in college. His size doesn't matter. I was begging for the Kings to draft Millsap. But it's fitting that he's with the Jazz - a Louisiana Tech grad playing power forward in Utah - just like Karl Malone.

Millsap was the 47th overall pick (2nd round) by the Jazz in the 06 draft.

We picked 19th overall and selected Quincy Douby.

Petrie's worst draft ever.

And what did Dampier average for the 7 YEARS he was in the league before that? 6.4 rebounds a game. Look again at Milsap's per 36 numbers for the 3 years he's been in the league. You could be right that this is a contract year anomoly, but it doesn't look like it to me.

Couldn't agree with you more.

Considering their college career (Hawes was poor and JT was great against poor competition) and how they get generally pushed around in the NBA, you would bet that those two AS A PAIR are going to be considered a rebounding and defensive force?

Why do you hate logic? :D

Well i disagree with your statement about how they are getting pushed around so far... They seem to play fair defense on a team that lacks it completely. Also, at least one of them picks up a block every game...Brad Miller and Mikki...almost never. I think they can be a good pair but the only way to guarantee they have a chance at it is to give them a few years starting together. Plus if we are going to pick up a FA to start over Thompson id want it to be like Chris Bosh or something.

Plus in my NBA 2k9 Franchise Thompson develops into a 84 PF and Hawes becomes a 90 C with 88 3 pt shooting by 2011.....the risk is to great to not keep them together, the game does not lie.

thats funny, in my 2k9 franchise hawes and thompson were both 92 by 2012 all of my training and practice went to them.... martin ended up at a 95.... i worked the hell out of that team. after i traded away all of our crappy players... i tanked this season got the number 1 pick and traded it for derick rose... i had a dope team.... i worked on martins ball handling until he was as good as kobe with the rock. man that was fun. i might do it again. still couldnt win a ring though, dwight howard became a beast and i lost to the blazers in the wcf. but it was fun to see oden and howard go at it. and kobe left the lakers to go to the heat. only to lose to the magic.

2k9 is fun, though kobe is way too good in that game. its just too easy for him to score. unless he is doubled there is no player that can hang with him. unless you get him into a shootout from 3pt land. he just cant make them all game long.

I'm glad we have Kevin Martin. I'm just not sure we had to give him $55 million. No matter, as his contract won't bog down our payroll (he'll be 31 when his contract expires; not exactly a Chris Webber contract). I'm just saying that I think we overpaid slightly.

If you like Milsap, then just draft Blair with the Houston pick. Undersized, awesome rebounder, physical, excellent hands, pretty good shot.
