That's great news. Maybe we could send Peja to Indiana, Artest to the Clippers and keep Maggette. Maggette is young and athletic. He'll get over the foot injury. Artest will never get over his head injury.

My personal opinion:

I think that the Maloofs are talking to the media too much. Over teh summer, it was with Adleman / Jackson. Today they went on ESPN to talk about the trade (without talking about the trade), and tonight STILL talking about the trade - saying it isn't dead yet.

Most GM's get aggravated at owners who start doing this on a regular basis. I do not Know if Petrie is one to get get annoyed, but if he does we may not only be looking for new players and a new coach, but a new Gm as well.

I just don't get it. I'm not a big Peja fan, haven't been since he requested the trade. And I know he is not helping the Kings right now. But he is hardly a destructive force. Peja may not be our knight in shining armor, but Artest could very well be the dragon that destroys us.

Sorry, I don't think you're being honest with that statement.

Then get rid of Peja for some draft picks or Maggette or Pierce or anyone else. Special is a cancer - he doesn't belong in a Kings' uniform. The only reason to support THIS trade is if you want Special in a Kings uniform.

The future is nowhere near that clear-cut. A significant risk, yes. But again, what is this amazing thing that we have to lose? Artest is far too wacky to be all upside, but the upside is bigger than the downside when you are already a lottery team stacked with middleaged vets. Either you find some magic elixir to revive this team NOW, or you have to pretty much tear it down and completely rebuild. Artest is either a magic elixir, or he's not. But absolute worst case scenario right now his antics end up bumping us up a few spots to get a BETTER draft pick.

And when all is said and done, betcha anything he is still tradeable to the Knicks if nobody else. Not for anything special perhaps, but he does not have to wear the purple (or the gold ) past this summer if he just has to go.

Once again thank you. these ppl fail to realize that 20 teams approched Indy with trades when it came up about artest. If it don't work couple his salry with say reefs or KT and get yourself and great PF and have MR. GARCIA in the wings and the SF

Not exactly. Absolutely worst case scenario is that Artest so alienates a disheartened fan base that they totally rebel against the team and shoot down any hope of an arena in the foreseeable future.
