Orlando/Sac Trade

These are two teams headed in different directions... orlando needs a clutch shooter for late game 3's and a more capable center to play along Howard... orlando is ready to win now... the kings need some bigs with potential and cap relief... how about this trade...

Kings trade Bibby, Miller, and maybe Garcia for Grant Hill (and his 16 mil expiring), Darko Milicic, and Jameer Nelson...

The kings get instant cap relief for next season(Hill), a big with potential (Millicic), and a steady, but unspectacular younger point guard (Nelson)....

Orlando gets a good clutch shooter in bibby, a legitimate number two scorer to take the heat off Howard... A center who can shoot and pass, and force the other teams center to come out of the lane in Miller... and Garcia, a potential replacement for Grant Hill...

Kings Line up would be...

PF SAR Thomas
SF Artest Williamson
C Milicic Williams
SG Martin Douby
PG Nelson Salmons

Orlando Line Up would be...

PF Howard Battie
SF Ariza Garcia
C Miller Battie
SG Turkoglu Dooling
PG Bibby Arroyo

Doubt Orlando would do it, but I sure as heck would. Then turn around and trade SAR for PJ Brown's expiring (unless the rumored Gasol deal goes down), continue to tank and get a top 5 big man in the draft.

There is no way in the world Orlando does this.

Both Jameer Nelson and Darko Millicic are potentially going to be just as good, or even better, than Bibby and Miller in a few years...
Add in a huge expiring deal, and there is no way in the world Orlando gets picked pocketed by us.

Add the fact that Bibby is having a terrible year and Miller is pretty clearly on the downside there just is no reason to do this.

Orlando has a bright future with Howard/Nelson/Milicic, and I see no reason why they would want to distrurb that with players who would either be on the downside or just out and out gone by the time Howard hits his prime.

you never know if the magic would do this. i think the deal breaker is that huge expiring contract. with bibby/miller, you get proven commodities. although bibby has lack of defensive ability, you know in the 4th quarter he will turn it up a notch and win them games.

Orlando worked quite hard to pile up a young team that can grow together into contention. They are winning some now, will win bigger later. Do not see them trading it all away for our middleaged spare parts.

I think our best chance to get in on any of that action is if they could overcome their fear of Artest. Then you could start talking packages, with a small base of Darko/Ariza for Ron, and then seeing if we couldn't get cap relief too.

There are other teams who could use Mike and Brad, but Orlando's needs going forward are OG + maybe SF (making Hedo the 6th man again) more than PG/C.

I have followed and watched the magic for many years now and I would be shocked if they did this. They love Jamear and Darko and hope to resign them both next season. And I am pretty sure that Hill will not be traded, his contract coming off the books would help them resign Dwight, Darko and Nelson. And news down here says that the magic will most likely try to resign Hill but at a huge pay cut.

The only way i see a deal having those three go down is if a young star guard is free to pair next to Dwight for years to come. The magic really don't need bibby because Nelson could already do what he does, if not more.

Wow, Orlando gets robbed big time plus set their franchise back with this trade. I just don't see how they are this stupid.
