I don't. Drew Gooden wouldn't solve any of our problems. In fact, he might actually add to them. Talk about over-rated under-achiever.

Gooden wouldn't fix any problems?

Sure he won't help our block problems, but the guy is a rebounding machine...Anyone who could rebound like him instantly helps our team.

#10 in the NBA in Reb/48 (14.7)
#6 in Offensive Reb/48 (5.6)
#5 in Offense Reb/game (3.3)

Those would instantly help us, IMO.

Then with Varejao, we get a young bundle of energy to come off the bench...And he'd be able to crack our rotation, because he has some offensive skills.

In his rookie year, he poster about 5 points, 5 rebounds, and .7 blocks...And thats only in 16 minutes.

Gooden can rebound, but he is one of the worst passers in the entire league, he can't play defense, he has no offense and he has worn out his welcome on three teams in less than four seasons. No thanks. I like Verejao though.

Passing...Miller can handle all the frontcourt passing...I think this team needs a PF that is capable of going for 15 rebounds on any given night...SAR has shown he can't do that...Gooden can.

As for the offense...Oh well! We don't need all five of our starters to be scorers...Gooden can handle his garbage baskets on putbacks, and the plays we set for him...It's not like we're going to try to force him to be a big part of our offense, which I think would actually help us.

By the way, he's number 5 in the NBA at 53% shooting...I'd take that.

Also, the thing that I love about the trade would be the youth we bring in! Gooden is 24...Varejao is 23...Both these players are going to get better...That why I pull the trigger.

(And for Varejao's awesome fro'! :D)

PG: Bibby/Hart/Price
SG: Wells/Martin
SF: Peja/Cisco/Williamson
PF: Gooden/Thomas/Varejao
C: Miller/Skinner/Varejao

I think you make good points -- it's just that you really have to wonder about someone that promising, that young, and that good a rebounder -- why have all three teams he played for been so eager to get rid of him?

I still want Pierce. Rumors have been floating around that he is going to ask for a trade. Not sure how he will mix with this bunch but I would take a lineup of say

Bibby, Pierce, Miller.... Trade the rest and fit in some pieces to make a great team.

We need a leader/superstar/ player that will take the team on his back. Pierce is a stud and may be the best leader type player available this year.

I am not for getting all these fill-in players that will make little difference in a pursuit for a ring.

As we all know Sacramento is the NBA's rehab center for damaged careers...Even if we are lacking the "chemistry" we had with the Webb/Vlade area, we still seem to be able to straighten someone out.

Look at Bonzi...He was beyond a headache pretty much everywhere else hewas, and look at him now...Model citizen, and everyone loves him.

Three teams may have passed on Gooden...But I think in the right situation he'd really flourish...Who knows if this is the right one, but I'm am more than willing to give it a shot.

And man, would it be fun to see Skinner and Varejao flying around the court with our second unit...Two athletic big's playing for the Kings at the same time...Definatly something I want to see!

How about this...This is my dream scenario.

Kings get:

Paul Pierce...26.4 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 4.5 apg

Celtics get:

Peja Stojakovic...17.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.1 apg

Kenny Thomas...7.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg

Draft Pick...Lottery pick, maybe?

Change in Team Outlook: +2.1 ppg, -1.7 rpg, +1.1 apg

Then do the SAR/Sampson for Gooden/Varejao, and look at this lineup.

PG: Bibby/Hart/Price
SG: Wells/Martin
SF: Pierce/Cisco/Corliss
PF: Gooden/Varejao
C: Miller/Skinner

I love it!

ya I like that lineup a lot Slab. I would say at some point we are going to need a better scoring backup PG and then just hope that Martin/Cisco come into their own roles. In previous years Petrie was always able to bring in a ole vet for cheap so maybe thats the way to go to fill that spot.

I am not a big fan of Gooden either but we would have 4 scorers on the floor and use Gooden to mop up the boards.

Remove the bolded player and I love it too.
Word...

But think of the all the defense he add's to our second unit! He's nearly the MVP of our bench!

One more thing to add to my ideal scenario...Drop Jason Hart, and pick up Omar Cook.

He's a tough defending PG, who actually showed some nice offensive ability back when he played for Toronto...Have him and Price duke it our for the backup PG position.

Drop Jason Hart and pick up an extra garlic fries guy for the middle of the concourse so you don't have to walk all the way to the end.

Drop Jason Hart and pick up someone specifically to take those gold uniforms out and bury them somewhere far, far away.

Drop Jason Hart and pick up Mateen Cleaves.

Ah, consider the possibilities...

;)

I would like to kill two birds and have Jason Hart take those gold uniforms with him far, far away.

I do not think that I am going to make it to February. I do believe tonight used up the rest of my patience. Just do something - ANYTHING- that would make it either more hopeful for the future or simply less embarrasing in the present.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...burp.

You know, my usual beer consumption is about a six-pack a month. I may have to revise that. I wonder if I can get the Kings to reimburse me for the increased cost?

If they reimburse you for beer costs, they will go bankrupt reimbursing me.

Our lotto pick though?
If it gets us a guy like Pierce, you have to do it.

As of now, you arent going to get Pierce for Peja and Thomas...It's just not enough...You have to throw in more.

new starting 5 ...

PG - Mike Bibby
SG - Paul Pierce
SF - Ron Artest
PF - Brad Miller
C - Jamaal Magloire

in a perfect world (Artest focuses on defense and isn't greedy with his shots), this would be a kick-a** starting five ...our bench would still suck though ..
