In a post a couple of days ago I held back opinion as to wether the Kings were turning the corner or not, based on the Jazz and Spurs game, until they finished this 4 game road trip against 4 bad east coast teams, two with the worst records in the league. Team records before they played Kings:
NY 16-16
Tor 11-22
Atl 4-26
NO 2-29
Unfortunately the Kings made the bottom of the league look like good teams with poor defense, lackadasical attitudes and lack of hustle. The Raptors beat us playing a poor game and making free throws, Atlanta out shot, out hustled and out layup’d us 64-33. New Orleans has only scored 100 pts twice in 31 games until the Kings came along then they hit 13 3-pts, 4 in OT!!! Sure it was 4th game in 5 days, but if the Kings think they are a good team then they have to beat the bottom of the barrel, away and at home. Oh yeah, I forgot, we lost at home to two sub-500 teams recently.
Say what you want, the facts speak for themselves. The current Kings are not very good and sure don’t scare anyone anymore, least of all some of the worst teams in the league. They are 5-5 in the last 10.
I think the problem lies with both the starters and the Coach. Attitude and mind set. They, the starters, still think (and act like) they can show up and win and play accordingly.
As a fan, it is frustrating and irritating. They can play better and once and awhile they show us. But consistency and the lack thereof is becoming a widespread disease. Sadder yet is none of us, or the Kings, seem to know what is a solution. We'll all wait it out but ...........
