Don't know if it came across in the stats, or the PBP, or anything else, but New Orleans played on hell of a game.

We didn't expect them to. We certainly didn't want them to. But, they did. Give 'em credit.

Our boys just lost this one. Nothing fancy. They lost to a team that played a better game. Period.

Did the Kings make mistakes? Yep. Sure did.

Could they have won this game if they had done a, b or c? Yep.

If you had told me yesterday that the Kings would score 117 against the New Orleans Hornets and lose, would I have thought you were on drugs? Yep -- and good ones, at that.

But, it is what it is -- a loss to a team that came in with only two wins on the season. However, as some have already pointed out, the team that was on the floor was NOT the same as the team with the 2-29 record. And, they most certainly did not play like that team.

Now, can we please loosen the grip on the panic button?

I don't think anyone needs to see the game to be surprised they lost to NO. We're talking about NO. Maybe they played their best game of the year, coincidentally against the Kings. Sighs.

I don't remember the thread, but VF21 stated that THE KINGS seem to play up or down to the caliber of their competition; Conversely, EVERYONE seems to get up for THE KINGS. Kinda like Ali in his day. Let's just hope that in "the second season" that THE KINGS get up for everyone.

Hoodie, sure hope you are right. Re the Lakers of 2001-02, they did beat the good teams during the season. So far the Kings have a losing record vs. +500 teams. Of the 20 wins only 3 are against good teams: Lakers very early, Suns and Spurs at Arco. Oh yeah, they had a Shaq and a Kobe BDCP (before the colorado problem). Who do the Kings have comparable? Those two laid back until near the playoffs then turned it on. Both said so in the media, particularly Shaq.

On this road trip 3 things stand out: letting a team (any team) get 64 pts in the paint, letting the worst team in the league score 19 pts in OT, a 5-minute OT!!!!, consistency on defense. I know, defense is much harder than offense. In the 4 road games every team they played scored way above their seasons average.

Say what you want about JimJackson and KClark but didn't we lead the league in lowest opponent FG % the one year we almost made the championship game? What we really need are a couple of hard nose defenders off the bench. Wonder if starting Mo and having Christie off the bench would help? JJ is available but is his negatives worth his positives?

Somehow the Kings have to get consistent. In past years when they had no defense they had the best offense. Even that is missing now. BTW, it is not me worried personally, it is me worried for the Kings and their somewhat delicate attitude with no real bench strength this year. Maybe we should look at how we got in this predicament and see if there is a clue as to how to get out of it., eh?

Yes, but his comment wasn't about beating the good teams. He clearly stated that Championship teams DO NOT lose to the poor sisters of the league. His statement is totally false. They do. It happens all the time. I just used that year as an example because they lost to EVERY bad team on numerous occasions. Hell, the 72-10 Bulls lost to our own Kings, bet their fans were real excited about THAT one!
