Official Welcome to the Kings: Quincy Douby! (merged)

The main question is: Can Douby pass? Or will we pass the Douby?

What happens if we trade Douby for Blount? That would truly be an illegal trade.

got this from the radio.
marcus williams agent denied him a workout w/ the kings, and petrie avoids players that he hasn't worked out which make sense.

douby will give us the player off the bench who can shoot outside

"He is long and athletic enough to defend, but he needs to have the same passion on defense as he does on offense. Should he get that, he will be able to guard people in the NBA."
I saw that one, too, Nbrans. I think Artest inspired both Garcia and Martin on the defensive end and hopefully he will inspire defense passion in this young man. I'm sure Musselman will expect real effort on the defensive end, if Douby wants to get any time on the floor.

The one thing I read that I do like, is he has "bring it on" attitude and confidence. Apparently plays better the tougher the competition gets and wants the big shot. I'm not sure you can teach those things.

Anyway, he's ours now and I'm hoping we got a great young player.

I do seriously hope we address the interior/big man issue thru free agency. I don't want to regret passing on Alexander?

yess... and if you've seen this guy play he's the one who does have the point guard duties on his team at rutgers...

he was just more like a gilbert arenas... he rbought the ball up passed if he had to.. but he was more of a shoot first COMBO guard...

and his assist to t/o ratio was pretty good.. its a shame he had bad players around him...

omg, im glad i wasn't drinking anything when i read that

anyway, douby sounds okay...i liked the analogy towards bobby

Bobby Jackson anyone?

This profile definitely sounds like Bobby Jackson.

"Douby looks like your classic sparkplug backup guard to bring off the bench and keep the defense honest with his perimeter stroke. He could very well not be done developing as a player, though, so it’s not out of the question to see him develop his point guard skills and maybe even become a starter for the team that drafts him. He’s not the type of player every coach or GM will fall in love with, but he will have more than his fair share of fans because of his high skill level and aggressive style of play."

I welcome him to Sacramento. I will reserve my judgement on his play until next year. Daft picks past the 10th rarely have much of an impact in their rookie year. Next season is Garcia's season to shine.

Here's a pretty big surprise. The Kings have missed Bobby Jackson and needed a guy who can shoot and penetrate...

from chad ford on espn, but it's insider so i can't read the rest

HELLLLLOOOOOOO Quincy Douby!! Welcome to Sactown, baby...you'll love it here!!! Oh yeah...and buh bye Bonzi...you gave us some thrills in your 1 year...well, 1/2 year here, thanks for the memories, you're a warrior...errr....warier:)

Dude, read Douby's profile. He's shoot first, with selfish tendencies and he sucks on defense. He's NOT a point guard. There were point guards available - Rondo and Williams. Douby is NOT a point guard.

It makes sense IF Petrie is going to move Bonzi to fill another of our needed positions.
Read draftexpress.com. Loves to play defense, plays pg.

Alert: Koz says Quincy Douby will be on the show within the hour.

A caller just said Rutgers students had t-shirts that said "I Douby-lieve" :)

^^ very cool.

seriously, this draft just made me so much more excited to go to rutgers.

just 2 days ago i was there for summer orientation and it got me a little excited. the idea of having kings fans in NJ and in rutgers specifically makes me feel all giddy and excited about college! :D

From that link:

The way he projects right now, Douby looks like your classic sparkplug backup guard to bring off the bench, keep the defense honest with his perimeter stroke, erupt for points and do a good job defending the opposing team’s backup point guard. He could very well not be done developing as a player, though, so it’s not out of the question to see him develop his point guard skills and maybe even become a starter for the team that drafts him. He’s not the type of player every coach or GM will fall in love with, but he will have more than his fair share of fans because of his high skill level and aggressive style of play.

Sound like any former King you might know? ;)

MM...not the same thing at all really if you havce watched him.

He is aggressive offensively, loves ot shoot, but he's not very physical. Skinny little guy. More wormy than forceful. I'm looking for the NBA comparison. And its not Arenas. Not Bobby. Not really House either because he's more than just a jump shooter. He'll slash too.

We've heard coach say that they will focus on defense but you cannot win if you do not score points. Last year, we really needed a consistent shooter to make use of our defensive surges. Luckily, Bonzi came through in the playoffs. I really like the idea of an aggresive shooter with a high ppg average. If he can put 'em in on the big court, he will get minutes. I trust his defense will be a focus.

We really need a motivated big man!

Geoff seems to know what he is doing :D!

Welcome, Douby. You'll be flourished in our team!

I like this pick. We have Bibby, Wells, Martin, Artest, and Garcia as our backcourt -excluding Hart and Price -, and I think Douby will fit with those players.

Ok we have fixed our hole at backcourt, then go get some Big (via trade or FA)! Mr. Petrie~ :D

Great interview on KHTK. Tank and the guys were stumbling all over eachother though.

Seems like they didn't expect to talk to him tonight!

The guys sounds very humble. Kozimor said that a Kings "official" said Douby was just off the hook shooting the ball at his workout. Douby just downplayed the whole thing just saying that it went very well shooting and breaking guys down off the dribble.

Brick remember guys who love to shoot in college when they play with on better than and 3 less than starters have a tendency to change once they hit the NBA and are on the bench behind 7-10 better than guys. It will be interesting to see what a year or so of NBA ball does for Douby's game.

I, um...am not so sure about this one. We'll have to wait and see what transpires the next month or so...actually maybe even a week or two.
