This trade makes zero sense to me... You're not getting any contract space for the offseason or any foreseeable offseason since even without Webb's contract we're basically over the cap... You don't improve rebounding since Thomas averages 6 rebounds a game, Corliss plays the three and won't fit into our rotation once Peja is healthy, and Skinner averager 3 rebounds.
Given that Rick only uses an eight man rotation and in that rotation we alread have Bibby, Mobely, Miller, Peja, Evans, Songaila. That's six guys. This means that only two of the guys we traded for fit into the rotation and are expected to make up for Webb's productivity. Seeing that Corliss is about 6'5" and is more of a 3 than a 4 and seeing that this trade has made it very very clear who is the premadonna on this team I don't see Corliss getting many minutes. That leaves Kenny Thomas and Brian Skinner? Thomas averages 11 points 6 boards in around 25 minutes a night. Skinner averages 2 points and 4 boards in less. Are these guys defensive stoppers at the four, the only way it makes sense is if they are amazing defenders because the numbers say they certainly don't help our rebounding or scoring.
Finally, everyone seems to think this trade will lead to another trade, but I don't see how. We landed three overpaid, undertalented guys who really don't fit into our system and whose long term contracts make them just as difficult to move as Chris was.... I would hate to think that GP's emotional attachment to Peja was involved in this decision, but I simply do not see any other justification for making the trade than placating Peja who clearly took issue with CWebb. While I am not necessarily a tremendous CWebb fan, making a trade to placate a player is simply a disaster waiting to happen... can anyone make this trade make more sense to me please? Am I misreading the situation???
