Im going to be pretty thoroughly pissed off if we draft Markennen. God i hope we dont pick him.

He's obviously not an ideal scenario pick, but if he is the bpa at 10 then I'd absolutely prefer him over any kind of trade, unless of course it is a steal on our part. The draft gets a lot worse after him. With our entire front court being far from a sure thing at this point, getting a 7 footer who shot 42% from 3 last year isn't the worst thing.

Disagree. There is a lot of quality after the top 10, it simply depends on the team needs. There will be productive players in the 20s IMO.

I would be more concerned if he hasn't played a full season after the injury and did not appear to lose any of the explosiveness he had prior to the injury, ACL injuries are not as worrisome as they used to be 10 years ago.

I agree.. I wouldn't mind taking him at all at #10 if he's available. Good PF shooters don't grow on trees at the moment.

I understand, but for me there is still a % of re aggravability (if that's a word ) when a kid uses athleticism like that. That % may sway me if prospects are close. But I understand his appeal.

For this years draft, Portland is the best bet for grabbing a pick. Detroit if you have a vet they want. MIN would maybe trade back IF Isaac is gone for them.

Adding a pick in 18' or 19' especially would be great. I know it's a pipe dream, but if we somehow were able to draft Luka Doncic whenever he declares, I would be one happy...Suicide King.

Yeah, going into high school I was one of the tallest kids in the class at almost 6'. Then I pretty much stopped growing and some kids started passing me.

Not saying there isn't quality, but except for maybe Zach Collins, the floors of the players become a lot lower. Markkanen showed great shooting ability from all over the floor, good touch around the basket, and good pick and roll defense for a guy with defensive question marks. There is a reason many mocks have him going as high as 7. I'd be ecstatic if the Wolves or some other team takes him before our 10th pick and we have a shot at someone else, but I'd rather keep the pick and take him over trading down for two of Portlands first rounders or something else along those lines. Right now we don't know what we have with Skal, WCS, and PapaG. They all showed flashes last year, but nothing that should keep us from drafting bpa and that would definitely be Markkanen.

You and I differ on Markkanen. I don't think he would be BPA if he manages to slip to 10. I see more value in a player like Harry Giles, Donovoan Mitchell, OG & Justin Patton. Any of those players could be had at 10.

From last year I've learned not to judge a player too harshly until after he's had some floor time. I'd give any of the draftees the benefit of the doubt. I don't particularly like Tatum, but not going to write him off. Markannen I'm not too big on, but would certainly give him a shot. If his shot follows into the league, he could have a solid career on that alone.

I'm not a giant fan of Markkanen either, but there is no denying his skill set. Shooting as well as he does from where he does for his height instantly makes him a strong commodity in this league. A team like ours cannot afford to waste picks. While I like all of the guys you mentioned, reaching for any of them and letting a guy with a much higher floor go by is a bad move.

Lauri projects as a better version of Frank Kaminsky or Ryan Anderson. That's not chopped liver. He has some agility when he puts the ball on the floor. He keeps his balance going to left or right. He's a legitimate 7'0" tall. Not some 6'10" standing on his tippy toes! He also does NOT have a scrawny physique. He shouldn't have any problem getting his body right because he's not that far off. All these variables are in his favor. Additionally is the variable his skillset is coveted in the league with the drive and kick game and opening up the paint for guards. In this regard, I don't really see picking him at #10 as a huge gamble, especially because the guys we already have a 4/5 (Koufos, Willie, Papa G, Skal) don't have the same skill set. Lauri is legitimate possibility if Fox is the pick at #5.

Rumors abound? Chad Fraud filling up space behind a paywall is equivalent to you or I floating a rumor that Malachi and the #10 for Klay Thompson is pending. Chad Fraud is the same guy who retroactively changed his draft board and hoped to get away with it until he was caught by Deadspin. Don't believe this fool. My bet is he will be fired by ESPN after draft. If ESPN had any integrity he would already be gone.

I'm seeing the growing appeal in Frank as well at PG. He has a lot in the way of natural tools. I might lead towards him over some of the consensus above him. Don't think he will last to 10 though. But when you think of some of the other guards, the thought of giving the farm for Fultz who appears to me like a somewhat better D Angelo Russell isn't appealing.

I could see Markkanen as a better version of Channing Frye or even a very poor man's Dirk but Anderson and Kaminsky were both much better rebounders and more importantly they both were much better post players. Markkanen hasn't shown any semblance of an inside game and has been worse defensively as well.

Stretch fours/fives are great if they can pull opposing bigs out of the paint while not being complete liabilities on the other end. They also need to be able to post up to punish teams who go small and put a wing on that stretch 4/5.

Right now those are significant issues for Markkanen.

haha yah.. I read up on it a bit. Apparently some people keep growing into their mid to late 20s. Some are tall at a young age and then just stop. I guess I was a late bloomer/grower.

I think I've analyzed this draft too much. I've come full circle and am back to wanting dsj. I'll be very happy with Fox or Isaac as well but something about dsj has me thinking he's being underrated.

Dsj at 5, og at 10, and either Juwan Evans or Semi at 34. We either come away with pg depth or sf depth, good prospects at each position.

Dallas has been posting pics of their whole front office scouting and smiling with Frank N. in Europe.

To me, they are showing way to hard that they like Frank N., being that they don't pick until #9.

I think it is a smoke screen and they hope someone else is their at #9, maybe Markkaren? Which means a point guard will fall to 10.

I think that if Fox is gone at 5, and the kings go small forward, either Tatum or Issac, there is a good chance the Kings can get their point guard at #10 in Frank N.
