Nocioni for Straight up expirings?

Yes, you can use just part of the TPE. The only thing you can't do is combine it with the MLE as part of a trade. I'm not sure why you would want to trade KT and Brockman for the TPE. First off, I'd like to see what Brockman can do. Secondly, if you don't want Brockman on the team, simply don't sign him. I believe that in KT's case, its a dollar for dollar where the TPE is concerned. So basicly all we would be doing is saving money now. Which is OK.. I'm just not sure why Orlando would do it.

i just like trade proposal threads... they dont need to make any sense, the money just needs to add up. but brockman is whatever to me... he's an undersized pf. i could care less about a 2nd round pick that wont get any real minutes unless our bigs get hurt or are in serious foul trouble.

I've contended since we got him that Nocioni is a good guy to have on a team that is in contention. He'd fit well with the Celtics, the Spurs, the Suns, the Cavs, the Magic, etc. Not the lowly, rebuilding teams that are two or three pieces away from being a contender. Further compounding that is the fact that we're paying him $7 million a year, tying up a lot of cap space.

I'm not arguing that he's a bad player, or a cancer, or that he can't help us. I don't think any of those things are true. He's just not the player that we need at this stage of our development. I think he should be on the block, but not just for the sake of moving him. I'd co-sign to the OP's deal, but I don't think anyone would give up that much for Noc.

He is a real nice piece for a contender, but he's overpaid on a long deal. Some team would have to think he's THE piece to put them over the top, and he's just not good enough for that. Why trade for Noc when a guy like Kleiza might sign for 4/20M ?

Ha Ha, I can appreciate that the trades don't have to make sense to you, but unfortunately they do have to make sense to the trading partners. I know your skeptical about Brockman, but I think your going to be surprised. As far his, or anyones minutes, we'll have to wait and see. We have a new coach, and just because things happened a certain way in the past couple of years, it doesn't mean things will remain the same.

we've had a new coach for the past three seasons... brockman might be good but i doubt he will be a steal of the draft type of 2nd round pick. we'll have to wait and see i suppose....

So if I understand the point of this trade. We will have essentially traded Miller and Salmons, for nothing. Not a bad deal!
That is one of many reasons a lot of people were opposed to that trade. Not opposed to getting rid of the two players, just what we got in return.

However, you can't really worry about sunk costs at this point. It is irrelevant. You just have to try to do what is best for the team going forward.

I’d have no problem with the trade, but I would like to get a nice kid out of the deal or a good draft pick.

Nocioni does have a lot of heart. Lord knows the Kings are in short supply of players with heart and experience. If we had to get rid of one or the other, I say get rid of Garcia.
Just a thought...Have Noc go in and have them take 1/10 of his heart out and transplant it into Hawes. Then we might have a pretty damn good center.
Garcia is a BYC because of his recent contract extention, making very difficult to trade. The most expensive and longest contract is Beno's. He has a player option on his last yr. While Noc & Garcia's last yr is a team option.

Besides, no one has beat Noc out of the starters job yet. But, Beno could end up being 3rd behind Evans & Sergio.

My point is that Nocioni is the peice we have left that has value. So it would nice to get something other than just cap space for him, if possible. I'm all for whatever helps the team, but I wouldn't just rush into a deal when a better one may be possible. Or not..
