NFL 2023-2024 Thread

LMAO. To make any kind of judgments about how the Niners are going to fare going into the playoffs based on this game is comical. This was a glorified preseason game and when we did have some semblance of starters in the game we marched down the field 4 times for 3 touchdowns and a missed FG to take a 20-7 lead into the half. Any talk of the Rams beating the 49ers in the playoffs with their full squad Wentz or Stafford is too funny. Vegas would have us as 10 point favorites if somehow they met up. Lol
The Rams are playing well right now, and they certainly can beat the 49ers. It's closer than you think. 10pts? -- try 4pts. They took the Ravens to OT in Baltimore, and their offense is up for the task. Throw out the records. Its the usual grudge match.

Yep they blew it drafting Moody - ridiculous.....it very well could cost em the season in a close playoff game.
Dude set the record for consecutive PATs made in the new era. He blew a game winner, and today’s might have well lost the game but I legit think he’s going to be fine.

This post can change wildly if he chokes in the playoffs

“I don’t need a shoulder to walk.”
-Jason Verrett attacking yet another rehab this offseason.
“An absolutely devastating blow to team morale”
-Niners beat reporters when Verrett’s ACL decides it doesn’t want to work again during warmups of a week 7 practice.

Moody has only missed kicks in 2 out of 17 games, right?

The only concerning thing is it seems like when he misses one, it gets in his head and he just continues to miss after that. Hopefully that's not the case and it's just been a coincidence.

something poetic about Pete Carroll and Russ both getting crapcanned in the same offseason.
End of an era; I used to hate the Seachickens in the 2010s, but not anymore, especially with Carroll and Russell both gone......
They have some good RBs and Rcvrs, but their defense is way off their glory days though I was impressed with safety Love.
My Uncle went to High School and played football with Caroll in the bay area.

Rams v Lions is the Wild Card game of the week. Pulling for the Lions but wondering if the Rams upset, not surprised. The Goff/Stafford makes it more compelling to watch - whomever of them plays cleaner/better, his team will win. Goof just isn't a winner, but maybe he proves otherwise .

Also interested in Texans/Browns, and mildly Bills/Steelers. I think Cowboys will dismiss the Packers, Dolphins defense is beat up and look like a fizzle out vs Chiefs unfortunately (I hope I"m wrong), and Eagles/Bucs is not too interesting.

49ers will likely face Eagles or Rams in the Divisionals. I"m not sure the Eagles will beat TB at how poorly they've played the last month.

Rams-Lions should be on Monday Night. No one wants to see Bucs v. She-gles, sorry...

I agree with your assessment/predictions. I, too, am hoping the Dolphins can pull it off, but it's gonna be tough, especially in Arrowhead.

Also...

Let's go, TEAM!!!

The Packers have beaten the Chiefs, Lions, and Rams - I think the Cowboys will win, but probably not by much more than a TD differentail or so.

Cowboys probably ought to hope the Rams beat the Lions, as the Lions will be itching for payback if they take down the Rams. Like I said, I do think the Rams upset though I prefer the Lions. The Lions/Cowboys was a good game minus the shafting,- not as bad the Saints/Rams non-call though - one of the worst I've ever seen.. So I'd like to see Lions/Cowboys round 2. That was a good game.

Not that I cared that much, but figured I'd flip on the Playoff game during a down half hour.

...it's not on TV? Seriously? Streaming only? This is a bad trend. Bad, bad, bad.

I can see it now:
NBA Finals Game 1: Exclusively on HBOMax
NBA Finals Game 2: Exclusively on Peacock
NBA Finals Game 3: Exclusively on Netflix
NBA Finals Game 4: Exclusively on AppleTV
etc., etc. so you have to spend $200 on streaming services you otherwise aren't going to use just to watch. I would just point out that it is possible to overplay your hand. I pay YouTubeTV their $73 a month so I can watch live sports. Too many live sports move onto 17 streaming services, I'm not going to add 17 streaming services, I'm just going to drop YouTubeTV.

Yep
That’ll be the end of watching football,…. greedy toads. Basketball similar, used to get all of both on OTA, free

I remember Slim once asked a hypothetical question on whether you would pay to watch the Superbowl, that may become reality if this is just a start of things to come

Its not just that, its all sorts of things - commaticized or can be - beverages/food on planes, any auto services, water fountains, bathrooms, parking, toilitries at hotel, matches, grocery bags, paying for TSA pre, shorter lines at amusement parks,, fees online, , toll roads or suffer more traffic , .....

Streamiing was supposed to be about saving and "cord cutting, and its become effectively a whole bunch of smaller cable companies. With commercials wasting time to begin with, not gonna pay additional for sports. Football would be wise to put down the streaming companies.

let's just put it this way, one can charge individuals for almost anything in any sense of the word. Consumer spending is good only in a sense that it provides a society with increased amenities that help them prosper, make life easier/convenient but then I ask...at what price to the health and well being?

cord cutting became popular when folks didn't want to overpay for satellite channels and so to open themselves to the market, a low and decent price had to be established to get enough consumers to buy in. With this, a fire stick came along with this and platforms that were exclusively for one service, now started jumping on the streaming wagon and so round and round we go. These companies know America loves foortball, now the question is how much do they love football? how much more are they willing to fork over?
