New season for Miami Ink

Kat is gone but they've already found a replacement. And I think she's a much better fit for the group...at least so far.

Ah, they fooled me. They're going to have "visiting artists" come in every week for a while and then decide which one they want to become a permanent member of the crew.

It's on TLC. It's on right now and at 9 p.m. - on DishNet. I don't know about anywhere else.

Kat never warmed up to Miami, being an LA woman and all that. Remember the episode when she couldn't get even one of her coworkers to go out for a drink? She was homesick and depressed. Later, she got into a dispute with Ari. Plus, Kat was carrying on a long-distance relationship with her weirdo boyfriend who looked liked something the dog drug home and they chewed on awhile.
Good show, great body art, interesting story lines, but I still can't figure out why somebody would voluntarily cover up quality skin. No tacky tats for this kid!

Tasi is cute. Very cute, actually. But she's nowhere near the artist Kat is. I'll be curious to see who else they bring in for a trial run -- wonder how dedicated they are the idea of bringing in another hot chick type.

As an aside, if I hadn't sworn off getting any more tattoos, I'd sign up for a session with Chris Garver in a heartbeat.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they were married. I haven't watched the show in ages and Kat leaving dampens my interest a bit. At some point it got too repetitive for me and I don't care for the majority of the tattoos they do on the show, the art styles I like don't lend themselves very well to reality tv. But if I catch an episode I'll watch and it sure beats the crap out of Inked.

Isn't Kat supposed to get her own show?

I really liked her, maybe because of the dynamic she brought to the show and the shop. You can only watch the one of the guys flirt with a half naked girl while tatooing stars and flowers on her so many times =/

LA Ink starring Kat Von D in August:
http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/la-ink/la-ink.html

Kat Von D has come home to Los Angeles to fulfill her dream of opening up her own tattoo shop. The news has spread and celebrities, rising starlets, punk rockers, musicians and tattoo collectors alike are lining up for some of Kat's famous black and grey ink. In a city known for its tattoo culture, LA Ink is sure to stand out -- drawing clients from all over the world and from all walks of life. But with popularity comes headaches, drama and a lot of hard work.

Playing by her own rules, Kat lives a fast-paced, rebel lifestyle. Hers is a life of freedom: she sets her own schedule, picks her clients, sleeps late, and parties all night. For her shop to be a success, Kat will need to learn how to balance her lifestyle and her business while managing a colorful staff of renowned artists. LA Ink will offer a rare glimpse into an LA that is seldom seen, through the eyes of a true insider.

Check back to tlc.com/la-ink to meet the new cast and tour Kat's new shop before the August premiere!

One of my friends was supposed to get a tat from Kat, then she up and moved to Miami. Hopefully she's back in LA now.

The guys flirting does get monotonous.

Great news about Kat getting her own show. I think the "Hollywood" tie will bring in a lot of viewers.

Mostly occurs with Ami and Chris Nunez, both of whom I find utterly boring in terms of personality AND art.

Darren and Garver, however, are both really talented and completely adorable in a dorky way. Neither has a tendency to be obnoxious with the female clients.

Thats true and I probably should have specified. Garver is incredibly talented, probably the best tatoo artist at the shop. Darren is married, so he gets the pass ;) But Ami and Chris are almost cartoonish now, just the same routine show after show.

Agree about Garver, he's amazingly talented. The new woman isn't for sure but I really thought she was pretty cool - fun and can take the crap the boys dish out.

The previews for next week show a guy who looks to be able to do portrait work as well as Kat. That could take him up the ladder a little. I liked the girl but I think her stuff might be a little too dark for what the shop actually needs.
