New Leader

So since Webber is gone, and VF21 brought this up, who do you think is the leader of the team now?

My vote? Bibby.

I think he may have been the leader already, since he's been the only consistent and healthy player this year. He's already their main guy at the end of games, he is the point guard and he never backs down. Miller doesn't seem the right type of personality and Peja proved he's not a leader when he asked out. Mobley is far too new.

Disagree? Agree?

Well, for some reason I think that most of the eyes will be on Pedja ...

as a leader? you've got to be joking. i wouldnt pick peja to lead a girl-scout troupe. he's not aggressive enough or vocal enough. mike and the cat are gonna have to step up, and i believe they will.

The eyes will be on him, but nobody is going to follow a milksop who spent most of the season pouting.

Like I was saying in another thread, this trade is really bad for Peja. Now, if he starts playing well again, he looks like a guy who quit on his team mates for a personal vendetta. If he continues to play poorly then he's a guy who couldn't perform under the pressure of being the top dog for a team. I really am not sure which one Im hoping for. It would really suck if he suddenly turned it on and I realized I was rooting for a team whose leader was more interested in personal gain than his team doing well.

Good point, ovrush. Although, I have to say that if Pedja scored 20 a game when he was pouting and not trying, then I wonder what he's like when he actually tries.

Good point. I am not sure how Peja comes out of this looking good.

They will lead-by-commitee, IMO.

I thinking Mobley may have a "natural leadership" aura around him. He seems to be such a team guy, and dedicated. Getting his fines for defending his teamamtes vouches for him. And he'll only get more comfortable with time. By the end of the year, I'm guessing he'll be our verbal leader.

Bibby may not be the most vocal guy, but lets lead through demeanor. You have ice running through your veins. Show the guys the way, Bibby.

Cat has the leadership qualities, but not the game, Bibby has the game but not the qualites, Pedja has none fo the above and Miller would not take the job with a gun to his head.

i agree with ya wholeheartedly. i just hope the cat sticks around. otherwise, we're headed for some really troublesome times. what really sucks is that guys like mike bibby, brad miller, and peja stojakovic are all in the prime of their careers, basically. and we're goin no where fast. what a goddam waste....

I don't see Mobley sticking around without Webb. He loved Webb, and they shared a passion for winning. I am not optimistic about where this team is headed. I am hoping tomorrow things will look better, but right now I am in denial. Just read this thread - there is really NOBODY that is going to lead the team the way Webb does. We have no leader, we have no passion, and we have no direction. We just became a very mediocre team.

Sad but true. :(

yeah Mike has absolutely no choice in the matter...and i think he's prolly already realized that...its his team now and he's gotta lead them

The vocal leader will have to be Cuttino and possibly B. Jax imo.

b-jax wont be around much longer, if we are indeed rebuilding. his age and injury make him a likely candidate to be moved.

from this one (between lines) and previous posts I see that you blame Peja for trading Webber......Why?.....did he EVER mention Webber in negative contest?....can you remember why he asked for trade last summer?.....what if he still want to be traded?....I've been warned on this forum for bashing Webber but now 90% people are talking trash about Peja without any particular reasons....btw I hope Peja will be traded today for Boozer or Odom
