[Game] Nets @ Kings Game Thread -- 11/19 @ 7PM

Yes and good solid snappy passes to players at their chest can vary the 3p% by several. Good clean offensive sets so the shooter is prepared to shoot and is open is another several %. Its not all on the shooters when everyone is having a down year shooting 3s on a team.

We don't lack the talent to reach 500 and we aren't failing to reach 500 because we didn't go out and overspend for someone this summer. In this particular case we didn't need to spend this summer to be competitive and prepare for our core contract resignings/extensions coming up. Sometimes a team fails because they don't spend but for this particular team at this time thats not the reason. You can't blame the Maloofs for this one the blame lies elsewhere.

Or.....we get some shooters. If Tyreke was surrounded by some of the shooter that other pg's around the league are surrounded by, his assists would be up around 8 per, and the offense would look that much better because we all know, when shooters make shots, it keeps the defense honest.

Tyreke has to get better at initiating the offense, no doubt. But he also sets guys up numerous times in the 1st and 2nd quarters, and guys are just missing open shots, and then he starts to get a little more selfish. Goes both ways. Tyreke has to improve, clearly. But his teammates also have t help by hitting shots and slashing off the ball, instead of always spotting up.

In the second half, the offense looked the worst when Head was initiating it, not when Reke was.

But until we settle on a riotation, until personnel get to settle into roles and learn where they shoulkd be and that they can count on each other, its never going to click.

I agree, settle on 8 to 10 guys who will play. Choose the starters and the bench rotation. Then lace them up and play ball until the fellas learn to play together.

ughhh....head as our starter...

imo u start u best freakin players no matter how theyve been playing. they give u the best chance of winning every night. landry is just better off the bench

I may be wrong but isn't Landry averaging close to 20/10 in the last 3 games? I say he has been our best and most consistant player as of late.

Evans can barely hit them when they are standing still. You think he can hit a moving target with a pass? All his passes are in front of him. There are only a few times where he has made a "no look" type pass. His court vision is pretty narrow.

I think Evans has good court vision. His teammates just don't hit there open shots. A couple games ago Reke had only 1 ast. He could easily had 8 or 9 more if the others would have hit there shots. The thing that kills me about Reke is he takes to long on deciding what to do with the ball. He tends to over dribble. He needs to get the ball and immediately drive, shoot or pass. When he spends 5 or 6 seconds dribbling the ball between his legs it give that much more time to set up for what is coming.

I wasn't talking about the last game. I was talking about a pattern I've seen so far this season as a whole. I didn't compare Head vs Tyreke at all. Don't know what you're talking about.

+1. The three point shooting percentage has been absolutely horrible. They should seriously stop all three point shooting if this keeps up.

For tonight's game I'd like to see some very, very simple things:

1) Play defense with intenity.

2) Pass the ball upcourt asap if possible to get much earlier into the shot clock (that's for you Tyreke. No dribble, dribble, dribble).

3) On average pass the ball more than one time each half-court possession (Wow, that is ambitious.)

You don't know what I'm talking about? I'm talking about the second half of the last game. Wasn't really refuting what you were saying, just pointing out that I think the main problems with the offense aren't due to Tyreke's failure to set it up. In fact, as you mentioned, he has been setting his teammates up pretty regularly.

This is a very important early season game. Starters need to give us a lift, and the bench needs to hold it down.

Next two games after tonight are going to be very hard. We dont need a 10 game losing streak this early in the season. Talk about a way to lose your fans early on.

Nets are bad, We are bad. They are on the road. We need to want this game more than them. I think we do, but who knows. Should be interesting.

I completely agree with Bricklayer that a new team needs time to learn to play together. I believe we have a lot of good pieces to work with and that once we settle on a starting lineup and rotation things will slowly begin to gel. I told myself at the beginning of the year to be patient because this cannot happen overnight. After watching the first 10 games and getting caught up in the forum discussions, it’s so easy to forget my resolve and the bigger picture…this new young team needs time.

That said, these three simple things are rectifiable right now.

It would really suck to get our 10th straight loss heading into a game on national tv, on thanksgiving. I see us winning tonight though.

The most underpowered offense in the NBA (92.8 points per game) comes to visit the worst FG defender in the league (our opponents shoot 49.2%).

My prediction: Nobody will say this was one of the greatest games ever played, and fans will call for a coach's head afterwards.

Luther Head looked like a PG right there. LOL!

EDIT: Definitely not there though, lol. The stand are EMPTY

And Landry is bad at defense.

I agree. I know we are in the rebuilding process, but losing 10 games in a row will definitely lose your fans. Its hard to justify a rebuilding process when you lose that many games in a row. I mean, we have lost 6 games right now and look at the arena......its empty.

what the hell was that? w could not possibnly have drawn up inn practice a Head/Daly #1/#2 optin offense could we?
