NCAA Tourney 2022

yeah it's hard to place him. On one hand, it's hard to ignore the college dominance the last 2 seasons and clearly he has a ton of offensive skill. The footwork is amazing, the passing for a big gives him a real desirable skill at the next level and he's actually pretty good off-ball too as a cutter and finding the open space.

The problem is like basically none of his strengths are desirable for a modern NBA 4. You ideally want a super long/switchable 4 that can be an elite spacer and stars having elite perimeter skills (I.E, Tatum, Siakam, Dray, KD, Giannis) (Mobley, JJJ, Jabari Smith as younger potential stud archetypes) (Gordon, Grant, PJ Tucker, Crowder, Vanderbilt as more role player types). Timme is like the complete opposite of all those guys and he won't have the rim protection (or rebounding honestly) chops to move to the 5.

If he finds a 3pt shot, I could see him sticking as an offensive threat. Without it, I just don't know how you keep him on the floor.
Which is nothing new for Gonzaga bigs, haha. Skill is such an important thing now though. So many teams are running similar offenses, including Sac, that it's possible for someone like that to find a place. He's got a decent stroke, I think he's got the physical tools to be a backup 4/5.

Yea, I’m taking Banchero #1. Smith’s upside is intriguing and Chet can be a modern 5, but I think Banchero is your best bet to be a modern 4/3. Needs to work on that 3 ball, but the tools are all there.

Add MSU to the list of teams that threw out lazy back court passes in the final minute of a 1-2 possession game. Went from looking really good to hot garbage in a hurry.

What's your 5-8 tier look like (most likely where the Kings are going to be picking) ?

Don’t really have that tier ranked yet. I think there is a deep drop after the top 4. Davis, Griffen…are mid firsts to me and would only be lottos, because of a lack of better talent.

Wisconsin is going to lose barring a star showing from Davis. He’s a role player, who needs to be a star right now. I’m doubtful.

Considering how many guards the bottom 5 teams have in the lotto, it would be hilarious if Jaden Ivey fell to the Pacers at 6 and they had no choice but to draft BPA and essentially recreate the Kings' backcourt situation from the last two seasons.

It is incredibly easy to see how Benn would fit into the Kings offense cutting off of Sabonis post-ups and off-ball actions. Obviously, there are flaws to his game but it's easy to bet on the elite athlete with a high motor who happens to play the most coveted position in the league.

I got him just outside the top 3.

Hou-Green/KPJ
DET-Cade
Magic-Anthony/Suggs/Fultz
OKC-Shai/Giddey/Dort
Kings-Fox/Mitchell
Indy-Hali/Brog
Portland-Dame/Simons
Spurs-Murray
NOP-CJ
Knicks-Nobody

-Houston could make some sense depending how they view KPJ, but I'd much, much rather find a running mate with Sengun to help maximize him.
-Det could make some sense as a secondary creator off Cade
-Spurs would be excellent to plug in at the 2 next to Vassell/Keldon/Poeltl
-Knicks would kill for him
-No idea what the Blazers plan for Dame is, but if they keep him, they'll look virtually anywhere else to get him help and just roll with Dame/Simons in the back-court.
-No idea what the Indy plan for Brog is, but I do think Hali/Ivey can work because Ivey defensive potential and his shot. I'm sure they'd much rather grab any of the 3 bigs. I love all of their fit with Turner at C.
-OKC would straight up just be dumb to draft him if they're going to start trying to win games. Shai/Giddey already showing growing pains working together and adding another guard who needs to ball won't exactly help
-I like the fit in NOP the best I think. They're flush with wing and big talent (if Zion comes back somewhat the same especially), but really only CJ offers quality guard creation. Ivey would be a strong upgrade to Graham in that starting 5.

I love coach Tommy Lloyd but he went small and watched the lead collapse and the team settling for bad threes. go back to what worked.
