Wait, what?Waive Spike.
LEE. You’re welcome to stick around.Wait, what?
Fans say, "we can't lose players x, y, and z" but keeping together a losing roster by resigning free agents to generally more expensive contracts just keeps together a bad team at higher and higher prices.
.
I understand the point you’re making here, but it’s a bit of a generalization.
For example PHX has been a sub.500 team for a long while until this current season.
Sometime it just takes the right player to change the dynamic. Or a couple players to make a better mix.
Point is, it isn’t necessarily bad to keep a few of the core players at higher prices so long as the right ones are kept and the right complimentary players are added.
I'm guessing about 6'9.
Fun things for me are:
a) two rival cities - this would be like the Lakers having the #2 pick (or getting Doncic, take your pick)
b) Portland fans voted for Oden, so no "you blew the layup"
c) Seattle doesn't have a basketball team anymore
That Portland core of Oden, Aldridge and Roy won something like 75% of the 82 total games they played together over 3 seasons.
Not fun thing here:
I moved to Portland in 2005, the beginning of our final playoffs season.
Portland was hot garbage. I routinely got free tickets WITH FOOD the first two years I was here.
They put together the aforementioned Oden, Aldridge and Roy lineup while we missed the playoffs.
That team imploded.
They put together a new core around Dame that reached the WCF.
All during the same timeframe we have not sniffed a playoff game![]()
I'm guessing about 6'9.
Not if it’s a really good trade. *fingers crossed*
Thisll be awkward if we trade the pick.
Unless we trade for 2 picks. Get to see 2 player drafted in the first round for the price of 1!

I love big men but us just standing pat and drafting Sengun and calling it a night would be Vlade drafting Papagiannis despite already having All-Star center Demarcus Cousins and pretty much nobody else already on the roster levels of frustrating.Sources say the Kings are also among the teams with serious interest in Sengün, who recently worked out in Sacramento. His impressive production as a teenager in Turkey will be particularly appealing to analytic-driven front offices, with his age and counting stats likely to model well in the long run. The question here is really how much a post-centric prospect like Sengün is worth in today’s NBA: he’s already a statistical outlier, but only the most dominant interior players justifiably command high-end usage.

I don't know enough about Sengun but he is at leat considered in our range, unlike Papa G.I love big men but us just standing pat and drafting Sengun and calling it a night would be Vlade drafting Papagiannis despite already having All-Star center Demarcus Cousins and pretty much nobody else already on the roster levels of frustrating.

I would have to strongly disagree, Papagiannis was an awful pick both at the time and in hindsight. Sengun has legit big-time talent even if you don't like the fit. And we definitely don't have a Boogie ahead of him on the depth chart.
I get that it may frustrate you to those levels, but the two scenarios are worlds apart.
I think the point is that it shows a similar disregard for what is working and not working in the modern NBA. Wasting lotto picks on post scoring big men in the era of run and gun midget ball is a bold and reckless way to go about rescuing a franchise which hasn't made the playoffs in well over a decade. We do need big man depth but in particular we need smaller, quicker bigs who can effectively defend on the perimeter. Sengun throwing up monster numbers in an entirely different league isn't really relevant to our situation.

I am not one to overreact. But I will absolutely riot if we take Trey Murphy III at 9.
Monte, do not do it.
I haven't paid any attention to him. Looks like he's a great shooter but what's he doing averaging 3.4 rebounds at 6'9"?
No way at #9. I'm guessing we're trying out some of these players in case we move back or make a trade. I'm thinking it will be Moody or Wagner if we stay at 9. Kuminga may drop too. If Kuminga drops....?I haven't paid any attention to him. Looks like he's a great shooter but what's he doing averaging 3.4 rebounds at 6'9"?
Guess they want to top the darko pick and go against the status quo
