on any given night any NBA team can lose and unless another super team gets formed like the Warriors team that lost 9 games all season, even the eventual champs, whoever it may be will be losing at least 25-30 games

It only took five years but the Kings are finally in a better place thanks to having not drafted Luka, who is staring down Mark Cuban and refusing to high five teammates in Dallas.

If you wanna talk actual "treadmills," the Dallas Mavericks are currently exhibit A. Scoring a generational talent in the draft is always a big deal; you give yourself that chance at sustained greatness. But superstar heliocentrism doesn't really work in the modern NBA, and the Mavericks just don't have a lot of ways to give Doncic the help he needs.

I've maintained for a year or two now that Vlade saw this coming if Luka wasn't on a winning team. Of course by not drafting him he also got ran out of town with his legacy in tatters, so he'd probably have been better off making the pick and not going down as the face of passing up Luka.

According to most Laker fans, this should be good enough to land Lillard or Beal or any other all star guard of their choosing.
I think we'd have to throw in Barnes and Monk with Fox if we want a package like that.

At least according to one youtuber I watched last week.

Mavs complete inability to build around Luka despite not having Vlade or that gerbil fella as their GM is about the only salvation to that saga. And I guess having the beam.

They were seemingly “done” for 80% of last season too. I’m never counting this squad out.

I don’t remember that. They started 20-4 and were in the top 3 of the conference the entire season. When were they seemingly done?

Last season, I don’t remember them ever being 14-15 despite being healthy and now they have to deal with Steph being out for about a month.

They just don’t have the role players they did last season. Kids aren’t developing. Klay declining.

I’ll be shocked if they don’t free fall. Steph was the only thing keeping their head slightly above water and they are under .500 anyway.

"Kendrick Nunn and PatBev and a couple of protected second round picks should get it done." -The Lakers probably.
I remember in the early 2000s, a Laker fan trying to explain to me how them trading us Robert Horry and Like Walton for Chris Webber was a good trade for both teams.
