My advice for Kings fans attending home games
This can be a topic of its own or you can merge it within another thread, up to the moderator.

I've been thinking about what the proper reaction should be for fans attending home games. I was at the "Here We Stay" game vs. the clippers last season and it honestly felt like a playoff game with signs and chants and such good positive energy and emotion directed towards the team. However, the team is not who we have beef with, it's the owners.

In MY opinion, should we boo the Maloofs if they ever show up to another home game? No, I dont think we should. Silence speaks louder than words in my opinion. If you've ever seen the youtube video of UC Davis Chancellor Katehi walking to her car surrounded by UC Davis protestors, you HAVE to check it out. Surrounded by protestors, you would think there would be booing and chanting by no, the protestors were completely silent. Not a word was said. Not a sound was made. They just stared at her while she walked to her car. (link to the video here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8775ZmNGFY) It was the perfect reaction to that situation and I believe made a greater impact than if they had booed.

What do I think our reaction towards the Maloofs should be? GO TO THE GAMES and support the team, a boycott does nothing, we should support the players. DO NOT buy any merchandise or concessions. Feel free to make signs or tee-shirts speaking our displeasure with the Maloofs but again, like I said, silence speaks volume. We should try to pack the entire arena and just for the first quarter, BE ABSOLUTELY SILENT. Just sit there. No clapping, booing, cheering. A completely solid out arena with nothing but crickets would have the greatest impact I believe. After the first quarter is finished, rock the s*** out of that arena!

Anyways, those are my thoughts. GO KINGS!!!

If the Maloofs do show up and ever took center court to "address their customers" as they're so eager to call us, it would be stunning if we could get everyone in the arena to stand up and turn their backs to them in silence.

A lot of variables, a lot of coordination and a lot of participation would have to go into it, but that silence would be a lot louder than boos ever could be.

I actually like that idea. Everyone just turning their back to them.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but you are aware that sports fans are made up of a lot of grown men that will have a pint or two in them already and feel completely screwed by two guys waltzing to their front row seats. "My silence speaks loudest" is not going to be the majority reaction.

I, too, will be at the game, my last of this season. I am not going to join in any protest silent or otherwise. No turning of the back. I go there to watch the Kings play. I will enjoy whatever I can. At this point I take the owners' word for it that they will stay, that they have enough money to field a competitive team, that they are making a profit now.

These last items courtesy of Ailene BVoison's great column this AM in the Bee. Phone interview with Joe. Do I believe it? I guess. What else can I do? Let's move on, buy so hot dogs and beer, help them make a profit and hope they sink the profits into a nice player or two. Go Kings basketball!!!!!!!

I certainly understand you wanting to believe the Maloof's. Any Maloof! I also remember the definition of insanity, and being from Missouri, the Show Me state, all I can say to the Maloof's, is SHOW ME!!!!!! Until such time that they've re-earned my trust, they're all a bunch of dirt bags.

However, my actions are compatable with yours. The Kings are my team, regardless of the ownership. The players didn't screw the city, the owners did. So I'll still watch the games, and if I were there, I'd still go to the games.. I will not give these scumbags an excuse to move the team. George Maloof will be the happiest man in the world if no one shows up at the games. Thats what he wants!

Too bad we couldn't find someone elst to pony up that 74 million for the arena. Then the Maloofs would have no excuse at all. And, they would just tennants, with no revenue rights at all, other than Kings ticket sales. No naming rights money either. But they'd have their arena to play in. And they'd be stuck.

I completely respect your right to not protest, and your right to enjoy the game however you wish, it's your ticket. But please, tell me you cannot be that naive!

Have you watched the press conferences?

These guys just completely lie, slander others, and are total scumbags. Do you not get that? They have just ****ed the city out of several million dollars in preparation and negotiation costs and two years of time and resources getting this deal together. Those are resources that are now wasted because of their lies. Not to mention the emotional abuse of the fans (even if you don't feel it). Does this not register with you??!!

You know, I wonder what AEG thinks of all this. And I wonder if they would be willing to put up the other 74 million for certain other benefits. I wonder what their deal with KC was on that arena. I wonder if they think they could fill it 200 nights a year with other shows, etc. I wonder if they think it could still be profitable, and I wonder if it would still spark downtown development, and still be able to backfill the general fund. If so, ****, let's go ahead with the deal!

Sounds like a horrible case of denial, which is surprising imo from someone with so much life experience. George and Joe take a completely different stance publicly, so it's technically impossible to be believe both. Did you just choose to believe Joe instead of George and hear what you want to hear?

Understand your frustration. I was very disappointed. I made up my mind that I wasn't going to dwell on it. If my interest is, and it is, in having my Kings here in Sacramento and enjoying the ride I have bigger things to worry about than reacting to the to the arena fiasco. Like wins and losses. The other stuff gets in the way. Sorry if it doesn't register with me as you might expect. Give them all the benefit of forgetting the details. And, as I said on another thread, maybe there is an upside if the Maloofs decide to win us back by investing in players.

I wouldn't be holding my breath on that. I don't think players accept IOUs

I'd like to remind everyone - and no one in particular - that we are ALL Kings fans. This shouldn't and won't dissolve into us turning on each other. There are a lot of emotions boiling right now, but we do meed to keep it civil. If you don't agree with someone else's take, that's fine but please do not let it dissolve into a discussion of each other's character. And again, this isn't directed against any one individual but just a warning because of multiple comments in a number of threads.

Thanks all!

My advice to everyone attending the game

Boo the hell out of those classless, lying, rat bastards. I'm tired of everyone saying we need to take the highroad. How many times are they going to be allowed tear our hearts and get away with it? I'm tired of it. I'm tired of having to be a perfect fan for everybody. It's time to show our true emotions. We don't need to be perfect, we don't need to hide our feelings. We deserve this team more than any other city in the world. But not with them at the helm. We deserve better than them. Classes to boycott? Classless to boo? Give me a break. Besides, it's not like we are booing the first chance we get, and it's not like we're booing one of our own players. We have shown our support through everything. There is no doubt about our loyalty. They have stabbed us in the back many a times and we have sat back and stood quietly. It's time to show them that we've had enough of them and their antics. We've been acting like an abused spouse afraid to tell the cops. Enough is enough.

So to everyone attending the game. Boo them. Loudly. Start "sell the team" chants. Start "no more maloofs" chants. Let them know that we aren't going to stay quiet any longer. GIVE THEM HELL..

I attended my last Kings game unless there's new ownership and they stay in Sacramento. However that turns out, so be it. maloof's will never get another dime from me.

maloof's name is mud in this town, they aren't to be trusted.

It's not even about the team anymore it's a matter of civic pride for me. Official member of the "not a dime" club here.

For anyone that attended the game were the "sell the team" chants noticeable? Or any other protest statement made? From watching the NBA League pass feed, it was like a home game as usual. Not a peep from Grant and Jerry about the failed arena.

I was there today and it was like a normal game. Didn't see any Maloofs. Didn't hear or see anything to hint that something happened on the arena fromt on Friday the 13tn. Just an ordinary game except we won.
