Yeah, I would have traded Martin/draft pics/whatever just so we could have had a slot for Mo, he is gonna be something. Oh well, we are what we are.

John Salmons cant hold Mo's jock, let alone be destined for the same(not saying that Mo is going to be a 20 pt scorer or anything like that, of course, but he will be a decent contributer off Detroits bench)

The same as he would be or Martin will be here.

It was discussed multiple times. Actually it wasn't Martin vs Evans. Since Kings gave full MLE to SAR the only way Mo could stay is by taking qualifying offer(around 800,000 $$$). Pistons offered him more than 2 mln.. I guess it was an easy choice.
P.S. Darius did well against Boston until fouling out in 12 min with 11 points and 3 boards.

I think his point was that preseason scoring doesn't mean much.

Mo should be solid off Detroit's bench, but he's just a bench guy. Would have liked to have had him back, but after we drafed Disco the writing was on the wall -- just no room or need for him with both Cisco and Martin (unless we had fouond someway to unload Corliss and his contract -- Martin/Cisco/Mo could have been a fun superathletic trio of OG/SFs off the bench).

Does that mean that he is groovy on the dance floor as well? :p

Yeah, it's pre-season, but still very cool to see what Mo can do (like he did for us when he got more minutes). I was impressed.

I already posted this in a pistons thread in the NBA forum.

John Salmons was very aggressive vs. the Knicks, got to the line like 21 times. He's been having a very good pre-season that will get him more time in the reg. season.

By the way, last night wasn't Evans' first game with the Pistons. I listed his others below. He's playing well, but here's something to think about: In 4 games he has 2 assists. Hmm....

FT: 0-0
Reb: 5
Steals: 2

Milwaukee/Detroit 10/13/05 (W)
Min: 16
FG: 3-6
3Pt: 1-1
FT: 1-3

Blocks: 0
Pts: 8

Chicago/Detroit 10/11/05 (W)
Min: 20

Disco, Cisco, all the same thing. :)

What about Crisco? ;)

Where were you when people were trying to decide on a nickname for Cisco?

Disco (or Crisco, for that matter) is a hell of a lot better than most of the offerings in that thread.

I was still pouting over nobody adopting my suggestion for Kevin "The Flying Platypus" Martin. :( :p

The thing with Mo is that he is already 28 or 29 years old. He is technically in his prime right now. He wont get much better. I personally like Mo but I would also rather have K-Mart and Garcia. K-Mart in time will be way better then Mo. You just have to be patient.

Agreed Burrito, Mo ain't getting younger, and he's already been in the league a few years. He will be solid for the Pistons, but let's give Martin and Cisco a chance too.

he had no ballhandling skills though... he was cool but i would have rather seen martin playing last year than evans.... i would have also liked to have seen evans traded with webber instead of barnes as barnes was playing much better than evans at the time...

couldn't agree more.

He turns 27 in November. Yeah he is in his prime now, and probably doesn't become a borderline all-star. But he's a great guy and player to have on any team. I would of absolutely loved it if we could of kept him, he just wanted a bit too much money (first he was retainable in early July, then changed his request area some weeks later).

Shame he didn't get much time at all in Minny his first year...

On Mo getting the minutes, he proved up and earned them in his first few stints in late November-early December as the #1 bench swingman. No way K-Mart would of played over Evans on the season. Barnes was similar to Evans in playing time, just some less. in 2005 Rick started using both Mo and Matt a lot together on the floor as spark and energy guys, and it worked quite well till Barnes got traded. In the long run it probably would of been better to keep Matt, because he would stay with the team for the vet. min. But Mo had the advantage because of his athleticism and consistency, I'd think.

Preseason anyone? Darko is even putting up numbers.

That's what I said, but it's nice to see and gives indication of what they can do (Darko/Evans). That's why like many other teams, they're getting those oppurtunities, also for minutes in the rotation (Evans vs. Dupree vs. Delfino, and Darko vs. McDyess). Read in the NBA forum "Interesting Pistons stuff" for more on that. There's also more stuff about Darko/Evans in "Darko off to a good start" thread.

Mo is a very very good player. He could have shown a lot more in Sacramento had he been given a proper chance.

Mo is simply not a very very good player. He will always be a good bench player, perhaps an adequate starter.

Did he appear to be a good teammate? Yes. Would he have been nice to have come off the bench if Martin and Cisco were not here? Yes. He will never been an all-star, nor do I think he will ever be very, very good.

In my opinion, Mo was better for this team than our starter at his spot. He may not be a starter, but that does not mean that he is not a really good player.

Mo better than Bonzi? I don't think so. As #1 back-up swingman (SG mainly), absolutely.

Mo's a good, explosive, talented player. But he's not gonna set the league on fire or anything. Like I said when I knew we'd be losing him, he'll be great for the team(s) he goes to just like he was for us, only with a little bit more PT. And I'll still follow and love 'em where-ever he is in the league.
