Wait...you're saying "brutales" means "amazing" and not "brutal"?

I don't know... I translated "amazing" and "brutal" into Spanish, and amazing definitely was not "brutales", but brutal was...

Though, I don't know any spanish.

brutales can be slang for cool. I wouldn't have gone with amazing, but I think Spanish King is in fact Spanish, so kind of silly to question his translation, no?

Probably slang. If you translated "the facilities are badass!" into Spanish it wouldn't look right either.

"Los instalaciones son maloculos!" lol

Wha? How is this an appropriate forum for your snide opinions on immigration? Also, just because Rubio speaks Spanish doesn't make him a Mexican.

Pinche huero

^Agreed. However, with his reasoning, if Rubio gets drafted by us (immigrates to California), he will do all of the dirty work that Beno(Californians) won't do!

Heh, yeah, I just didn't see that the first time I read it and I'd already posted the comment so it took me a minute to adjust. I kind of wish he did say Arco was brutal though so we can kick start the "Ricky wants a new arena!" campaign and get this done already.

Did he "Arco Arena and sports facilities are amazing"? That calls into question everything he says. He must not have seen the visitors locker room or any other facility in the league.

Mod Note: Keep the (very) thinly-veiled racism out of this conversation. If they're supposed to be jokes, they aren't funny. And they're not germane to the subject at hand.

He is a kid ... at this age everything looks exciting and amazing. He will learn the truth; just not now :)

Who knows, a) he hasn't been working out for teams, so who knows, maybe it does look spectacular to him. And b) bball arenas/facilities in the NBA are bigger/more elaborate than in Europe, so again, maybe it really did. And then of course there is c) it has been rumored that he wants to steer himself here, so waxing enthusiastic would be part of that.

Just like 'WICKED SICK' in english, brutal is a slang word in Spanish that means AWESOME!

Probably a combination of, D) ALL THE ABOVE

ugh. regrettably...i think i've come down with some sort of rubio fever.

despite this nagging feeling that he has a high chance of being a bust...he's pretty much all i want to hear/read about. this can't be normal. i need the draft to be now.

The only one's making it racist are the people getting angry at it. For those of you who don't like it, all you have to do is ignore it and it will stop. The only time I think anyone need take offense is if he starts doing it all night with a serious intention to insult someone. I'm sure if I said something like "white men can't jump" no one would give a rats ***... I'm not defending his comment per say, I'm just saying if you think it's stupid, ignore it instead of fueling the fire by calling it "racism". I don't expect this stupid distraction from the forum topic to end here but it really should. OK, DON'T REPLY TO THIS!

As for the topic at hand, hopefully Rubio's excitement as showcased on twitter is genuine and he really does feel that way about Sacramento. Draft day is ever so close! I CANT WAIT!:D

All True. My post was thinly veiled cynicism regarding the current state of our facilities and the need to have them replaced - and right quick.

Just one more reason to think that Rubio will be available at #4. Maybe its just me, but I almost get the sense that Petrie is dealing from a power position. If Rubio is there at 4, great, if not, we have other options. Its shaping up to be an interesting draft day. I've got my chips and salsa ready to go.

The big x factor in whether he'll still be there IMO is the trade packages available to Minny. The Knicks don't seem to have much to offer the griz. Minny has the pieces, but I don't know about a strong enough will to do it, I don't know if Love is enough by himself but I can see them liking Love more than Thabeet or Harden. If OKC takes him, it should be fairly easy to work a deal with them.

After that, you have the buyout issue. I would think it is going to have to be settled in the courts because I don't think the Spanish IRS really has any interest in re-negotiating his buyout.

IMO, its shaping up to a super interesting draft for us :) ... 4th pick, 2 first rounders, 3 picks overall ... and we, damn, need every pick to be extremely good .. and, for the moment, we have no clue what's gonna happen!! I have already got fine German pork sausages, sauerkraut and 2 bottles of Weihenstephaner beer. Can't wait to eat it ... or and to see the draft too :)

Ford blurb.. Wolves interested in Rubio?

ESPN..

I doubt this still stands since they are talking with the Suns... Of course if they do send Love to the Grizz, that would give them Amare/Ricky.

POSTED: June 17 -- 12:32 p.m. ET

Chad Ford: Ricky Rubio is in Sacramento today, trying to make his case why he's the guy the Kings should take with the fourth pick in the draft. Rubio will reportedly engage in a light workout with the team.

This is part of a three-team tour that will include the Oklahoma City Thunder and likely the New York Knicks on Rubio's way to New York for the lottery. It's long been thought that the Kings were Rubio's backstop in the draft if the Memphis Grizzlies and Thunder passed on him. Now Rubio seems to be in a dogfight with two other contenders to be picked at No. 4, Jrue Holiday and Jonny Flynn.

A couple of league sources told me on Thursday that they believe Rubio will emerge as the pick if he's still available, otherwise it's a real toss up between Holiday and Flynn.

Rubio, however, may not be there at No. 4. While it seems clearer that neither the Grizzlies nor the Thunder will select Rubio for themselves, the Minnesota Timberwolves are making a strong play to move up in the draft to get Rubio, according to sources. The Wolves have tried to do it by packaging their three first-round picks (Nos. 6, 18 and 28).

There's also been talk about Minnesota trading Kevin Love to Memphis for the No. 2 pick, a rumor that one source insisted was far-fetched. If that happens, it will have to be a deal that's consummated no earlier than June 28, because the Wolves have to wait a full calendar year to trade Love back to the Grizzlies (Love was traded to Minnesota for O.J. Mayo on the night of the draft last year).

If they don't get the No. 2 pick, sources say the Wolves will their No. 6 pick to select either Stephen Curry and Tyreke Evans. Evans seems like the best fit at first glance, but there seems to be a higher comfort level with Curry. We've had both players going to Minnesota in recent mock drafts. Hopefully by the last one we get it right.

In a typical draft situation, the Kings probably don't have the leverage, and they probably wouldn't get Rubio. In the typical draft situation, I'd bet some team trades up to get him at #2 or #3. But if Rubio is limiting the teams that he talks to, then the potential number of teams that can trade up gets limited. And the fact that it's a complicated situation with his buy out makes it even more unlikely for a team to trade up if they can't talk to his people. Also, it seems that there can't be some last minute trade on draft day that happens because of the complexity of the situation. So, maybe for once, the Kings do have pretty good leverage.

I'd have to think Rubio and his agent would talk and have been talking to any team that was trying to move up to get him at #2 or #3. It just might not be a face-to-face meeting at this point.I Maybe Minny has talked them and they are interested if Minny can do a deal move up.

The New Jersey Nets are said to be willing to trade Devin Harris to Memphis for the 2nd pick to get Rubio.

Are the Griz entertaining trade offers for the second pick?
Absolutely. Sacramento, Houston, Boston, Minnesota, Washington and New York are among the teams that have made offers -- some ridiculous.
Are there any potential trades scenarios that have gone underreported?
Sure. The New Jersey Nets are said to be willing to part with point guard Devin Harris. The Griz should ponder if Harris is worth the second pick.
Sounds strange. But that scenario sums up the Grizzlies' draft one week out: Expect the unexpected.

That...is very hard to believe. And Memphis would be nuts not to do that trade -- Harris/Mayo/Gay = 60ppg young backcourt. Still no frontcourt, but they'd be set across the backline forever.

What do you guys think about this below tough talk to try to drive up trade price or would they really risk losing their 2nd pick? Also you hear about the Knicks wanting to move up to 2 to get Rubio. Damn it's never easy for a Kings fan is it?

Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace says that the team won't listen to any outsiders regarding the second pick. "If we want (Rubio), we're going to take him," Wallace told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "We wouldn't have taken a 10-hour flight to Spain if we didn't have interest in him."
Wallace sent the same message to Stephen Curry and Jonny Flynn, who both refused workouts in Memphis.
