Mike Bibby and Team direction...

If he is or we are trying to his trade value won't be high because of his poor play, they may wait for the off season or sometime next year because they know he won't opt out of all that money.

^^^
Febuary 22nd I think.

Mike is definitely number one to get traded, but I don't think he will until Kings get a solid PG or use some kind of offensive scheme not involving a PG.

Mike wont get dealt by the deadline because his problems are his performance rather than his contract (I.E. WEBBER). we dealt him last minute because his contract was huge, although we do need to clear up cap space trading Mike wont really have that huge of an impact. Petrie and the Maloofs probably see that Mike has the potential to pick up his performance and they are not too worried about his contract. The original plan was to have him opt out and the resign a deal that kept him in Sac for a few more years. They like Mike and would like to keep him, but they want the Mike playing his best not the Mike we have seen so far this season. He will only get traded if we get something worthwhile in return and that will not happen anytime soon so don't start saving for a Bibby jersey on another team. Personally Mike is my favorite player on the team and i would hate to see him go, so Im hoping he gets his shot back and can salvage his reputation. GO KINGS!

i wouldnt mind if bibby were traded to toronto for tj ford and rasho... i dont like rasho but he'd be a better back up center than corliss... i like ford but he is kinda injury prone.... but i like his game...

why would the raptors do that trade? it would take a lot for them to give up ford.

Bibby still can declare himself a free agent after the season, leave a guaranteed $28 million on the table and hope to get a longer deal from Sacramento or another team to top that. The time is right: He will be 29 when bidding opens July 1, putting him in position to get a deal now and maybe even another one after. The time is not right: He's shooting 38.9 percent.
Except that July is forever away on the Kings' timeline. They actually are down to days of considering a pivotal move, with the trade deadline Feb. 22 and the threat of losing Bibby for nothing in the summer if they don't swap soon. Not that they need reminding, but no true point guard is in line behind him, and it's a weak draft for the position.
So joined are the sides that it is unlikely a trade could be completed without approval from Bibby/Falk. No team would relinquish the assets it would take to acquire Bibby without an indication of whether he would like the new location or have the moving van idling outside the arena in a July 1 dash out the door.
"As far as trades go, if there's something that would make sense for us, either short term or long term, and I'm not talking specifically about Mike, I think we would be inclined to do one," Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie said. The potential of Bibby leaving for nothing in July will not have an impact in February, in other words. Besides, if he walks, the Kings could get approximately $16 million under the salary cap, depending on other roster decisions and the eventual cap number. Having the money and spending it, though, are not necessarily the same thing.
I say he gets traded before the deadline.

<edit>opps this is in the wrong thread pls moderators delete this post. I will post this in the right thread

here is a trade i would like to do.

orlando

Pat Garrity
Salary: $3,525,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 2.4 REB: 1.3 AST: 0.3 PER: 6.12

Keyon Dooling
Salary: $3,348,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 8.8 REB: 1.5 AST: 1.5 PER: 10.52

Darko Milicic
Salary: $5,218,622 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 7.8 REB: 5.1 AST: 1.1 PER: 12.81

Carlos Arroyo
Salary: $4,100,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 8.5 REB: 2.1 AST: 3.2 PER: 14.40

Sacramento

Kenny Thomas
Salary: $7,187,500 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 5.5 REB: 6.6 AST: 1.4 PER: 10.72

Francisco Garcia
Salary: $1,092,600 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 3.9 REB: 1.7 AST: 0.6 PER: 8.87

Ron Artest
Salary: $7,526,316 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 17.7 REB: 6.6 AST: 3.2 PER: 18.70

then we could trade Bibby for cap space and a young player. We then become a major player in the market in the end of the year. That would leave us with a salary around 29 million before signing Darko.

ok, now this is selling artest for too little. we don't really get much talent in return. we have to get a pretty good young talent and/or a mid first pick.

True, but if we can shed Kenny and need to include Artest to do it while bringing in some good young 4/5 talent then so be it. Get it done and move along. Artest is playing good and is not making what he's worth on the court. He's a bit of a risk due to his highly volatile nature, but I really think he's lived and learned. I much rather move Bibby and Miller 1st. As much as we love KMart, he might even need to be moved if we get something good in return for shedding Kenny and getting something back we can work with. The guard positions are much easier to fill then a good young 4/5 worth anything.
