Michael Beasley?

I saw a lot of articles about Beasley turning things around and maturing a bit this past season, and now it looks like the Knicks may not resign him and other reportedly interested teams have made moves already. He can play small forward and hit a career high in 3s last season, is still under 30 years old, and is a former #2 draft pick. I know he has had off the court issues in the past, but haven't really read anything that indicates he is a locker room cancer. I think the kings should take a shot. He at least has outstanding offensive and rebounding ability and the Kings could always a go to offensive guy. At the very least, he'd be a microwave bench guy (even though he says he hates that he's been pigeon holed as that) that can take some pressure off of the young guys a little. Why not pick him up if he can be had for a reasonable price, which it looks like is a definite possibility.

Do it.

He's worth every penny and is low risk.

Yet another Lefty!

For all the shade ppl will throw his way he's undeniably a high skill level bucket getter.

He's a pretty good energy guy at this point too

Depends on the price. He's a talented player who can hit the three, and he does play with some intensity, which this team needs. I wouldn't be excited about signing him, but I wouldn't look at it as a negative either. He's still in his prime and he can play both the three and the four.

ALARM FLAGS!

Vlade is looking for a certain kind of player and Beasley is NOT what Vlade is looking for.

Just a reminder:

And, to be fair, here's the most recent article I could find:

I wish him all the luck in the world and hope he continues to be who he wants/ needs to be, just not on the Kings.

I dont think he's had any off the court issues since he left for China and returned in 2016 or caused any internal problems either. It sounds like he's been motivated the last few years but can't find the right situation. It could also just be that his role as a mercenary scorer is just his role, which isn't a terrible thing either.

Here's a few more 2018 articles on Beasley, who seems like he's doing the things hes supposed to be doing for the most part, but just hasn't been able to catch on.

I think its relatively low risk as long as its for the right price tag. I can't find anything that reports he has been a locker room issue or team killer. To me, hes at least a better value than someone like Rodney Hood. At worst, he'd just be another in a long line of "misfits" the Kings have taken a shot on the since the late 90s -- Cwebb, Mad Max, Artest, Bonzi, Zbo -- most of who ended up being somewhat fan favorites.

Fair enough.

Thanks for sharing those articles. I'm not inclined to change my mind, but I do hope he can find success somewhere.

Beas really doesn't provide to a winning team, there's a reason he's been hopping to different teams and even played a year in China. He can provide the occasional scoring off the bench but to expect much more than that isn't realistic, his mind wanders too much and it's not all on basketball when it needs to be.
