Constantine: "It was touching" to hear Maloof speak about family's long involvement w/ league, #NBAKings
updated 3 minutes ago by @dakasler

*Barf*

I continue to believe that Hansen/Ballmer offered the Maloofs a minority ownership or some other involvement with the team going forward.

When asked if The Magoofs would accept a back up bid (us), he said that they want to move foward (them)....What a *****. The fam gets money either way, but they would rather **** on the loyal Sacramento fans. I would hope (and think) the other owners wouldnt respect that.

Eh, I wouldn't expect otherwise. They have a contract to sell the team. They have a $30 million "obligation" to say they want to move forward with the sale they negotiated to Seattle. Why would they want to have to negotiate the same contract again? I wouldn't read much into this.

Don't get me wrong, I hate their guts, but this doesn't rile me up. It stinks, but is 100% expected.

This is good for us...

Neither McGinn nor Constantine could pin down an exact date for the new Seattle arena. Hope is two years, neither was willing to guarantee.

Non-guarantee was a blunder. NBA would relocate the team out of Seattle if they finish in 3 and not in 2 years?

Which is interesting considering it was apparently a major part of their argument.

"RT @Ryan_Lillis: Seattle officials said arena deal in Emerald City superior to Sacramento’s. Said it’s been worked on for longer"

Is this really a surprise?

Not sure why this is a surprise to anyone.

“@dakasler: Geo Maloof told owners that Hansen, Ballmer "would be great stewards" of the team.” So George is OK with ending of Kings.

To be fair to George Maloof, he is a complete and total moron and disgrace to humanity. I'm sure daddy would be proud

Maloofs will be sitting in on Sacramento presentation.

Not sure I understand why the Maloofs can sit in on the Sacramento presentation. And George's comment about Hansen/Ballmer being "excellent stewards" is hilarious, if you think about what the Maloofs have done to the franchise the past few years.

so they can run back to hansen with what was said

Seems the Maloofs should abstain since this presentation from Sacramento should not be considered a negotiation with the Maloofs.

Hansen says he can't say much about presentation. Asked if expansion was brought up and he declined to discuss details of meeting.

@JasonRoss1140 @CBSSports1140 Again, not a whole lot of confidence coming from the Hansen group.

Hansen declines to state how long he has been in negotiations with the Maloofs- ends presser

That last part irks me. I DON'T want the Maloofs sitting in. I am sure George will try to cause problems and ruin momentum.

I would love to know the answer to the question of how long Hansen has been negotiating. Anybody else think Virginia Beach just might be a tad upset if they heard the answer?

The NBA is wise to the lunacy that is George Maloof. If he tries to cause problems, it could totally blow up in his face.

when a reporter asked Hansen when his negotiations with the Maloofs began, Hansen began to dance around the question. Said something in the likes of there not being a specific date, but a "process". Then the presser ended.

It is one thing to hear that we have 4 whales but to see them all together getting ready to argue the same point is inspiring. I don't think it happens often that 4 very, very rich men/women are on the same side. Get what I mean? That's a lot of power and although which side has the most money or which side has the most owners isn't supposed to be an issue, it IS an issue among men/women who have fought hard to be in this exclusive club. 4 people have selected a team and a city to fight for and that is not political BS. Ranadivé has said that and I am sure his buddy Jacobs of Qualcomm feels the same way.

There is another interpretation. The NBA could have asked the Maloofs to sit in so they know what the Sacramento offer is. If that's true, that would seemingly add more credence to our cause.

My takeaway (without being in NY) is SEA relying heavily on precedent of owners not going against owners. SEA made Maloofs prominent today.
-------------------------------------------------------

Whooooo! Anybody who relies on the Maloofs for anything is delusional. And Seattle needs to think closely about using that strategy. Glad they didn't, though.

Makes you wonder

Hansen in and already out. Already gone. Interestingly, alongside Maloof spokesmen. He would not answer question about Maloofs.

Scott Howard-Cooper Scott Howard-Cooper ‏@SHowardCooper 1m

Obviously not sole focus of SEA bid. But if the Maloofs are being moved front and center like that, it's telling.

I have to wonder if this opens the door to a "negotiating in bad faith" accusation by Viriginia Beach folks.

Considering all the other owners know the Magoofs are slimeballs and dislike them for basically leeching off of revenue sharing for years now, I could see a break in precedent.

I didn't see the full list earlier. Sorry if this is old news, but here are the 12 owners on the joint committee.

San Antonio Spurs' Peter Holt, Minnesota Timberwolves' Glen Taylor, Miami Heat's Micky Arison, Oklahoma City Thunder's Clay Bennett, New York Knicks' Jim Dolan, Boston Celtics' Wyc Grousbeck, Utah Jazz's Greg Miller, Phoenix Suns' Robert Sarver, Indiana Pacers' Herb Simon, Toronto Raptors' Larry Tanenbaum and Los Angeles Lakers' Jeanie Buss.

So what small market teams do we have on our side? Toronto, OKC, Milwaukee, Phoenix, San Antonio, Portland, Cleveland, Utah, Indiana, Minnesota, And I think Washington and Philly may count too.
