I'm surprised we weren't able to get a perennial All-Star for LMAM the way he's being valued around here.
Don't be ridiculous. It adds nothing to the conversation unless that's your goal.

Wha? Mbah a Moute is no better defender than Donte Greene? If Donte Greene were as good a defender as Luc Mbah a Moute, he wouldn't be currently playing basketball in New Zealand. He was decent defender. But by no means will I be crying watching him walk to plane at the airport as he throws up a peace sign. Milwaukee is not a good team. If he is so talented then why trade for a 2nd round pick? He is low tier role player he was no better defender than donte Greene
27 years old with bad knees its all downhill from here. We see him lock down pj tucker and markeef Morris and we want to make him DPOY. Now I'm not saying Williams is an all star either. But 27 and bad knees role player vs 22 year old with potential on a team that has no chance of making playoffs?
Back to luc. Who have we seen him lock down that he is so highly regarded all of a sudden as a great defender?
He did very well against CP3 breaking a long string of double doubles. I think this opened people's eyes as to what his potential as a defender is. He could guard positions 1-4 and there aren't many like that in the league. As far as I am concerned, I wanted to see more.
Fine, he d'd up CP3. But anybody that's actually highly regarded.![]()
Heres my investigative reporting for the night ...
First, here is the most recent Derrick Williams 'highlights' from a preseason game last month ... Tell me if you noticed anything.
Aside from how he played (it is a highlight real after all) I thought he looked noticeably lighter. I have visions of his first two seasons in the NBA and he was a little to chunky for my liking. Never looked like he was in great shape. Then I did some google image searching for old Wolves media day photos to see if I was correct, and I came across this post from about a month ago on a Timberwolves blog.

He does appear to be in very good shape. Small Forward shape. We'll see.

while i would have preferred to see someone like hayes moved for williams rather than a useful roleplayer like mbah a moute, i'm still satisfied with this trade. kings fans really need to get out of the habit of deifying minor talents. i liked mbah a moute. he represented the right kinda roleplayer for this team. but the make-up of this roster is hardly solidified to the point where management would not consider trading players outside of cousins and mclemore. i don't expect most of these kings to be around in two seasons. mbah a moute was no exception. the plan is becoming more clear by the day: bank on the 2014 draft. trading vets for young prospects/reclamation projects is a positive step in the direction of "tanking," vile a word as that is for so many of you...

No guarantees he'd be a great defender by the time we're good again. With knees like that, he could lose lateral quickness quicker than other aging players. I loved what Luc brought our team but as it's fairly clear we aren't intending to win a championship in the next three years, this is probably a good move.If he misses, we are out a great defender.
He's in for a helluva shock when it comes to fan support. I know that was just a pre-season exhibition game but geez... pretty bad when the squeaking of the shoes on the hardwood drowns out the "roar" of the crowd.

Sure we lose a good defender now but we may gain a valuable asset for the future.

Was browsing a TWolves forum and they hate the trade. They think Luc is a scrub and provides nothing for them.
Where did you find a Wolves forum? The only one I found was completely and totally overrun with spam.
