Last thing on him was the article or two involving him quite a bit on Sacbee. He said Kings/Spurs/Heat are who he's looking at (Heat might be non-existant now because of Walker or Posey off the bench, though could be a #2 SF). But Kings have an advantage/highest, or something like that.

If they're digital and in your computer, you can upload them for FREE to www.photobucket.com (you need to register). Then, you can download them to our site as images from there. It even re-sizes them for you.

Love to watch Matt play .... sure hope he lands a contract.

Having watched him play (collegiate and professional level) .... I'm surprised more teams aren't interested in him. As King's fans, we're somewhat familiar with what Matt brings to the court.

Are they seeing things that I am not ???

Yep between Brent Barry's. That one got high on the SportsCenter top ten plays list that night/week.

He has a decent chance for a variety of reasons:

1. He's HERE and he's actively courting the Kings by playing in the summer league, practicing with team members, etc.
2. He's a fan favorite. While that in and of itself isn't always enough, when you combine it with some of these other things it becomes important.
3. He's a role player who knows his role.
4. He's a role player capable of fitting the roles we need on the Kings.
5. He's cheap.
6. He wasn't traded away because of problems, etc. He was thrown into the deal for Webber to make the numbers match.
7. He's HERE. (I thought that was important enough to mention twice.)

Depending on what else Petrie has up his sleeve, I can't really see a downside in bringing Matt back to the team.

Since Matt has been in the NBA 2 years already he is not a candidate for the NBADL. The Kings have 14 contracts now and can only have a max of 15. I love Matt and he would be a fan favorite. But another 6-7 body is not what we need. A 6-11 body is. Unless Geoff and RA see him for a more all around contributor able to bang with the big boys.

CD - We had David Bluthenthal and the Chinese PG last year at this time, too, remember? All I'm saying is there are a number of reasons he would be considered. And it has NOTHING to do with sending him to the NBADL, which would pretty much negate each of them.

It's still only August. There's a LOT that could be done between now and the start of the season.

Wait a minute - exactly HOW do we sign him, even if we wanted to? Aren't we out of MLE/LLE $$$? Do we still have the LLE available?

Or am I missing something obvious?!?!?

Barnes will take the vet. mininum. Made it obvious he would with his comments earlier in July. He would take it anyways if he didn't, I bet.

Down to the Kings/Spurs is the latest I heard.

I hope we get him, or Harpring/Jones for back-up SF.

Remember matt barns in that classic game against new york last year when he ripped the ball loose at the end for the win?

Oh yeah, one of my fav games of the year... Bibby got his career high 40 that night too. I had it all taped on the replay of the game, just stopped it on a commercial, and forgot to press record. :/

Barnes/Evans/Bibby were great in that. I remember Webb/Mobley were out because of sore knee/back, and they were loving it.

The week of 22 August saw press on Barnes getting pro-active on the web and with emails to generate more interest in him. And he has worked like crazy to really improve his mid-range jumper to 20 ft. At the vet minimum seems he would be a really good deal: dependable, rugged, agressive, a hustler and can score and play some D.

that's true, and the real question is, once Petrie picks up KG, will we still need Matt Barnes???;)

We have an up-to-date thread going about Matt; therefore, to keep from splintering the discussion, I'm going to close this one.
