I think this thread was more fun when we were talking about superheroes!

Not sure who my fav super hero is, but i always thought Catwoman was my purrfect villainess! If she played Jepardy her answers wouldnt matter she's such a distraction in that suit! lol :D

^ you would say that!!:)
I have no idea who will get the most playing time yet. We've got to see how this unfolds after the season starts. There could be injuries, GP may not be finished yet, the grass may turn blue. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm not going to argue this any more because it's like arguing whether Superman or Batman would win in a Jeopardy contest.

Sorry, but Batman would win. The Dark Knight is more of an investigator, and relies more on his intellect and ingenuity than Superman. So, Who is Batman's alter ego: Garcia or Martin?

wolverine is actually pretty smart.... i wouldnt put it past him.... but batman is a genius, world greatest detective is pretty impressive....

Isn't Sherlock Holmes the world's greatest detective?

he was, before batman... but in this post dark knight world.... batman is the man.....

the flash would win because he can just go run over to trebeck and look at the answer on the card. That simple, either him or super man.
I think you are on to something there! Flash would definatly have the edge on the buzzer too!

only because shaq demands a double team..... on his own hes nothing.... lol....

Truthfully, i want Gerald Wallace back, luxury tax and all. That or some aspirin b/c both Kevin and Francisco are gonna make some ugly plays...Gerald's leaping ability makes up for the lack of natural talent. But since we already took a whack at him, I'm banking on Garcia based on his quote at hoopshype.com/rumors.

"I'm going to try to prove that I can play right away," Dominican guard Francisco García said." Zonai.com

Believe me or not, my friend just told me a story about Kevin Martin. Martin went to a party recently and was a very respectful person....he could have been like "Any girls wanna ****" but no... in fact he was barely recognized. My thoughts are he needs to toughen up... not b/c he wasn't a jerk at a party. But because he needs to shake off his soft image (on the court). I have no evidence of this...but i think if he laid a guy out on the court during this seasons first game or even preseason...he may see more PT than we all thought.

You need to spend a little more time reading the threads HERE about Kevin, since a number of them are based on FIRST HAND impressions and not rumors.

Kevin IS a very respectful young man. Kingsgurl and 1kingzfan are lucky enough to have met him and various members of his family on more than one occasion and they have shared some of their impressions in various threads.

If you think he has a soft image, you obviously didn't see him play last year. He was anything BUT soft. It's not about laying someone out on the court. That's pretty immature, if you ask me.

As far as him seeing more PT "than we all thought," just what "we all" are you talking about? Some of us are pretty confident he's going to have a great season.

It is a true story... further more, when my friend told some girls the guy they just met is on the KINGS...they chased after him...

Back to "we all"... i mean you and me and every one in the NBA basketball know. and everyone knows he isn't getting PT. True.

Ive never played with Kevin, im sure he would punk me in the post or off the dribble. That aside, by NBA standards hes soft, and untill the man proves he can finish against an NBA Center, my opinion has validity. I didnt think it was possible to argue he isnt soft, so you got my attention

I don't care if the story is true or not. The point I was making was that we have people on the board who can speak about more than a second-hand story about how he reportedly acted at a party, which IMHO doesn't mean a thing about how he acts on the court.

If you think he's soft, that's fine. You are entitled to your opinion.

He HAS finished against NBA centers, however. AND he's shown more than once he can take a charge. I guess maybe you missed those games.

It's too early to say things like that.

The guy was a rookie, and saw little time. Had a handful of solid games.

I really don't see how one can term an NBA player as "soft" when, in his first season as a pro, he had a marked tendency to slash to the basket rather than settle for the long (non-threatening physically) jumper. And yeah, some centers happened to be around on many occasions when he did, but I see that issue as pointless.

This "party behavior" report, though, is a hoot. Talk about pointless. I think sometimes folks like to spew forth when they get a hold of some supposed "inside information", even if it has nothing to do with anything. In those cases, you try to make it look like it has something pertinent to basketball and thus worthy of reporting.

Heck, if Kingsgurl and I had been feeding you all our Special K "inside information" over the last year while trying to bend and twist it to fit some basketball purpose, we would have both been banned by VF21 a long time ago.

And rightfully so. :D

BTW, just to further place the party thing in perspective, Kevin has a long-standing girlfriend that has been living here in Sacramento for quite a while.

Oh yeah, how twisted a notion it is that if Kevin lays someone out in the first game, his PT will go up. Grow up.

Kevin's PT will go up this season without laying anyone out. True.

That's enough time wasted on this one...

Actually, 1kingzfan, I am surprised you wasted that much time at all. :p The idea that anyone thinks Kevin is soft is laughable to me, but, hey.....to each his own.

Oh...... my........ God. He was respectful at a party?????? Say it isn't so! That's it, his NBA career is over. So sad, because he was so young, and he had real skill.
Personally, any doubts I had about how tough he is were dispelled in the very first game I saw him in person at ARCO. He went against Q Rich and held his own. He took a BRUTAL charge right in front of us. and I do mean brutal. Hard enough to knock someone into next week. A couple plays later, he stepped up and did it again. Soft, to me, means afraid of contact, or preferring to avoid it. Kevin doesn't fit THAT definition, at all. He's a scorer, a slasher, a guy who likes to initiate contact and get to the line. Those aren't 'soft' players, IMO.

it would be great if francisco got to play sf and kevin sg so that both could get playing time. it would be fun to watch also.

that may be the best case scenario for both Garcia and Martin... if garcia can add some muscle and weight, he may be able to play some SF... i don't think Martin can play any SF at his slight body build... so if they both hope to play some this year, then Garcia will need to be able to backup Peja... otherwise one of the two youngsters will be riding the bench this year...

Today I ran into another post that said Garcia is not a good athlete and he will struggle in NBA defensively so I made a little investigation. I guess everybody remember that in Chicago pre-draft camp there were some physical tests. Tests showed that Cisco is not really fast or strong and not an explosive leaper but he posesses a very good lateral quickness(he showed 10.63 and Matt Barnes measured to 10.68 in lane agility and 40.5" in vertical jumping in 2002 camp, this year best in vertical Will Bynum had 40½ - Jeoff, please bring Matt back). So I guess with his commitment to defense and some added muscles he shouldn't have much problems.
Here's links to the test results:

If Cisco didn't have a lot of potential, Geoff Petrie wouldn't have picked him.

At this point, it's all theory about whether or not that potential will actually come to bear in the NBA.

Garcia supposedly tore it up vs. someone in a draft camp.

From what I've seen, Garcia's very versatile and confident.

WOW. what a joke. kevin has great respect for where he is. And doing something out of character to make his fans think he is a hard *** just will never happen. just a young man living life the same way he plays the game. (with his heart). He may have nights when he gets pushed all over the court until the buzzer sounds, but, make no mistake about it, you will see him pushing back. You will never see him being disrespectful to anyone, and for sure not a female. His first name is not Kobe, and I thank God for that. Lets support kevin and Garcia equally we are going to need both of them this year to see the results we hope to see.
