Maloofs to layoff 12 personnel....including Kozimor!!

It was with great sadness that I read this morning that the Maloofs are laying off 1% of total staff, about 12 people, and that one of them is Jim Kozimore. He has been one of the on-air personalities for 11 years I believe and a great calm and friendly face and voice thru all the recent "situations".

Even worse was the item that his pre-game and post-game show with Kayte is also biting the dust. Gads, sure hope Kayte stays and becomes a visible element of the Kings and Kings games.

Jim will be missed. I congratulate him on 11 years as a wonderful on-air presence and his great persona.

Side note.

Once walking by his pre-game warmup on the main level of Arco I was talking to my wife (CruzDame) on my cell phone and spur of the moment asked if Koz would say hello to her back down in Santa Cruz. He did and spent a minute with her and gained me some great points at home.

That next fall CruzDame and I went to Las Vegas to see the Kings-Lakers pre-season game and walking out of Thomas & Mack center after the game, there was Jim setting up for a post-game interview with the "strip" in the background. Walked up and introduced the Mrs and reminded him his cell phone favor the previous year and he graciously acknowledged and I think gave her a hug.

That was one of my memories of Jim Kozimore. Do you all out there have any "Koz" memories?

This is an outrage... I would much rather have Koz than Kayte... Koz has been part of the Kings voice for far to long to just lay him off for financial reasons... I can't believe their wasn't someone else they could let go. On top of that its really dissapointing that the HPL is being axed... watching that really got me pumped up for the game and it was always nice to get my "Kings fix" for 30 minutes before and after the game...this SUCKS.

Really? Whitey, The Phantom and Kayte? I haven't listened to the Rise Guys much recently but the past few days I've heard a couple minutes and I kept wondering who was in there with them.. was it Mark Kreidler?

That's another show I used to like better when it had the original guys.. the original third members name is slipping my head now but he got replaced with Kevin the Rat or some crap I believe. (the Rat was better than F.P. though) Gosh I'm just rambling here.

I have to agree. I'm 5'11", used to be taller, but you skrink with age. However, I towered over Koz when I was standing next to him. Hey, he was big in stature.

What is happening up there in Sac? I live in the Bay Area but get 1140 clearly and listen often. The rise guys aren't what they use to be. Frank Redd is gone. Marty mac is gone. Scott Howard-Cooper has been gone for a while. Now Koz? What the hell is going on with the Kings coverage up there, and sports in general?

To make matters worse, Mike Lamb is still employed by KHTK and Maloof Sports & Entertainment. That guy is an idiot. If it isn't the Raiders, he's clueless. How can Mike Lamb rank higher than Koz in the opinion of KHTK management?

I liked Koz and the show with Kayte was good, and I think Kayte will end up with a network job at some point. She's too good not to get one. She's often has the best points and insight, and Koz never was intimidated by that like some old schoolers might be. Plus, I know Kings fans who watch the maloof broadcasts just to catch her and her legs.

I don't think Mike works for MSE at all - he is strictly KHTK.

And frankly, Grant is annoying to listen to in long stretches. I like having someone like Mike breaking him up a bit.....

Wow what a shocker, sure gonna miss Koz, have met and chatted with him many times. For many years when I would go to Bobby Magee's on Sunrise Blvd when it was a sports bar I would chat with him before the morning NFL games on Sunday.

Not sure if you all knew, but Koz was a die hard Chicago Bears Fan, much like myself, he would always make time to stop by the table of Bears fans to talk football. Many times have stopped for a min at the end of half-time at Kings games to say hi. Always would stop and chat about Kings or Bears with interested Fans, feel he was a great representative for the Maloof organization and wish him all the best!!!

Bottom line is Koz was the best pre/post game personality, he could call a good game and seemed to get along with everybody. He was the happy face of the Kings the last couple of years when we needed someone like that.
