Malone to SA

Reports out of Utah somebody supposedly close to Malone. Who knows, maybe more melodrama. Lot of Spurs fans don't want him. Personally I say bring him in, sign Cliffy Robinson for Malik for flexibility on D and bring it on.

Malone may soon sign

* * * Former Jazz star Karl Malone has decided to soon sign a contract with the San Antonio Spurs, Salt Lake City sports-talk host and future Jazz TV play-by-play man Craig Bolerjack said Thursday on his KZN-AM 1280 afternoon-drive radio show.
* * * Speaking later Thursday night, Bolerjack said "a source close to" Malone "indicated Karl would sign with San Antonio" sometime before next week's NBA All-Star break.
* * * Assuming he does not change his mind, something he is known to often do, Malone would play his first game for the Spurs sometime after the break, Bolerjack said the unnamed source said.
* * * The report by Bolerjack, who formally signed a five-year contract with the Jazz on Wednesday to be their new TV voice starting next season, could not be independently confirmed.
* * * Malone's California-based agent, Dwight Manley, could not be reached for comment Thursday night.
* * * The Malone camp has said previously that Malone would announcement a decision — to either retire, or sign with the Spurs — by the end of this week.
* * * The NBA's No. 2 all-time scorer played with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, but a knee injury sustained in last season's NBA Finals kept him from signing with any team at the start of this season.
* * * Numerous teams initially expressed interest in signing Malone when he became healthy, including San Antonio, Miami, Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix and the Lakers.
* * * Malone since eliminated every team from consideration except San Antonio, and met there with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Spurs star Tim Duncan last Saturday

wow, i feel sorry for the spurs; there goes their title for this season, because you know malone will retire without getting that ring.

Just a warning, but before you do this you should know that Tony Massenberg is not going to be happy unless Pop first writes him a personal letter describing in lengthy detail exactly why the Mailman is going to take his minutes, and then takes him out to lunch to share a good cry over such a tough decision.

I've seen several help wanted adds posted at Taco Bells. I'm sure Pop would be more than happy to provide TMass with new career opportunities if he was dissastified with his current employment.

Rain dripping off the brim of my hat, sure is cold today
Here I am walkin down Sixty Six, wish she hadn't done me that way
Sleeping under a table in a roadside park, a man could wake up dead
But it sure seems warmer than it did, sleeping in our king size bed

Is anybody goin to San Antone or Phoenix Arizona
Any place is all right as long as I can forget I've ever known her.

Wind whippin down the neck of my shirt like I aint got nothin on
But I'd rather fight the wind and rain than what I've been fightin at home
Yonder comes a truck with the U.S. mail, people writin letters back home
Tommorrow she'll probably want me back, but I'll still be just as gone

Wow , Slim and Brick stole my snide remarks... Oh well Hope that T Mass goes postal over the Carpet bagger stealing him PT!

its amazing to me how its possible to hold out to see what team has the best record before you sign on...::shakes head::...just except the fact that you are in that elite group of guys that played a great career, will make it the HOF without a ring...i mean even i were a spurs fans i would hate how as Dave put it he's riding coattails

Karl Malone disgusts me...always has always will

Laker's chances of retaining this year's draft pick.

Cool by me, hopefully Mitch doesn't get smitten with some Euro who's biggest asset is "upside". Btw, if they do miss the playoffs, I'm gonna lean on the Kobe ankle excuse. ;) Just letting you know now.

None taken, ihB. I've come to some internal realizations about the future of this team and my view of the future doesn't include any of the point guards or power forwards currently on it. Specifically, the names Jarret Jack, John Gilchrist, and Deron Williams have nice rings to them.

its a good excuse...but as much as i would love it to happen...i don't think it will...Kobe will do everything that humanly possible to make sure the team is there once he comes back...and as much as i can't stand Kobe...you gotta love a guy that has the ability to do something like that

Reports are that his rehab hasn't "progressed" to the extent that was expected. Wink wink. It would be a first for him to come back fully healed from something. They've nearly lost 6 in a row save for two miracle treys in Jersey. If Kobe misses 10 more games, I'm very skeptical that he's being shelved.
