Reports out of Utah somebody supposedly close to Malone. Who knows, maybe more melodrama. Lot of Spurs fans don't want him. Personally I say bring him in, sign Cliffy Robinson for Malik for flexibility on D and bring it on.

* * * Former Jazz star Karl Malone has decided to soon sign a contract with the San Antonio Spurs, Salt Lake City sports-talk host and future Jazz TV play-by-play man Craig Bolerjack said Thursday on his KZN-AM 1280 afternoon-drive radio show.
* * * Speaking later Thursday night, Bolerjack said "a source close to" Malone "indicated Karl would sign with San Antonio" sometime before next week's NBA All-Star break.
* * * Assuming he does not change his mind, something he is known to often do, Malone would play his first game for the Spurs sometime after the break, Bolerjack said the unnamed source said.
* * * The report by Bolerjack, who formally signed a five-year contract with the Jazz on Wednesday to be their new TV voice starting next season, could not be independently confirmed.
* * * Malone's California-based agent, Dwight Manley, could not be reached for comment Thursday night.
* * * The Malone camp has said previously that Malone would announcement a decision — to either retire, or sign with the Spurs — by the end of this week.
* * * The NBA's No. 2 all-time scorer played with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, but a knee injury sustained in last season's NBA Finals kept him from signing with any team at the start of this season.
* * * Numerous teams initially expressed interest in signing Malone when he became healthy, including San Antonio, Miami, Minnesota, New Jersey, Phoenix and the Lakers.
* * * Malone since eliminated every team from consideration except San Antonio, and met there with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Spurs star Tim Duncan last Saturday
