I just get the feeling the "win/losses" line was just a set up to fire malone after what they assumed would be a brutal start.
Then they could fire him and go into "development" mode.
It wasn't working out cause Malone stubbornly won games, but Boogie's illness gave them the opening. Now it's watch the season fall apart time. I'm wondering if that was the plan all along.

I didn't get a 'harumph' out of that guy...
And the sinister part of me wonders if they gave him the virus on purpose.
Well, I don't go quite that far. That's REALLY sinister. And the sinister part of me wonders if they gave him the virus on purpose.
Give the governor a harrumph!
Someone needs to get on this. Does TIBCO have relations with a biotech company? And the sinister part of me wonders if they gave him the virus on purpose.

I will go out on a limb here and say that I am giving this thing a chance before getting critical of owner and FO. They do not want to be just good or respectable. They want to be great and are willing to roll the dice aggressively and are willing to do so early. They feel that they can do better than Malone so why prolong the relationship?
There is a chance that this move could be their best move yet and that is really saying something given all that they have accomplished in their short time here. I am just going to watch this thing unfold for awhile.

You watch your ass.
Harrunph????
I'm lost as to who I should be harrumphing at and why.![]()
Then why don't you keep Malone and fire him at the end of the season if you don't actually have an immediate replacement?Sam Amick @sam_amick
Chris Mullin will be more involved with the team in practices, planning etc., but no current plans to coach Kings. Will try to aid offense.
My bad, I thought you were in on the joke.Harrunph????

I'm beginning to wonder if Vivek is catering to the India market, attempting to drum up a style which will be attractive to a somewhat untouched NBA market which doesn't have the acumen/history to understand what wins and what doesn't win this league.
He seems to be playing to a lower common denominator, but one which has vast potential internationally and tens of millions of potential fans. I'm increasingly getting the impression his philosophy/marketing is not aimed at our market but rather capitalizing on a larger, untouched market overseas.

It's about suburbs in Roseville and Folsom, not Mumbai
It's about 2016-17 ticket prices. They just presume they will be good enough to make the playoffs in two years in the West (we'll see.) Their economic model, which doesn't include any revenue sharing when the new arena opens, is based upon massive ticket price hikes.
To ensure they meet their economic goals (protect Viveck's wallet), they aren't banking on just the additional sales following both a good team and the new arena buzz. They are concerned that casual fans, particularly casual fans that loved the Webber Divac glory days won't be super excited to watch a team that plays like Jeff Van Gundy's Rockets. The idea is that many casual fans have tuned out for years (some truth), and when they start watching or catch a game in person some will say, "This team is so boring. It's not like the old days." (really?) PDA has clearly been giving the marching orders that Viveck's financial models require the team to be BOTH very good and very entertaining in 1 and 3/4 seasons.
It's no accident that PDA keeps talking about the new arena. It's the goal and deadline to determine whether he's going to keep his job. How many times this summer did he say "We want to be a good team when the arena opens."
We are a small market team with a decent roster. PDA has been ordered not just to make the team a fringe contender, but to make them an entertaining fringe contender. I can't stand PDA, but to his credit he's been giving unreasonable goals by an owner that doesn't understand what he's asking for is close to impossible.
Vivek loves to try associating himself with big names. He loves the attention.
That's why he has Roger Craig and Mully by his side.
And that's why so many times, we've heard this quote: "Like my good friend Steve Jobs always said, I like to surround myself with people that are smarter than me". Note the name dropping.
He love of attention. That's really why he jumped on the opportunity to be the majority owner of a team so he can be the face. I don't blame him for ambition as long as he sticks to the business side of things. He needs to know when to stop and let the people that knows better than him do their work.
Honestly, I wasn't even worried about this season falling apart cause we still had the longterm potential with Malone/Boogie/Rudy/DC/Ben.
Now it's just, poof, gone. It's a nightmare that won't stop. How could they do this?
Honestly, its just another rich millionaire that THINKS he knows more than everyone else. Thinks he can out smart everyone and thinks his way is the best way.
Roger Craig is a godfather to one of his kids. He is insecure. Why would a guy who is close to being a billionaire need to drop names?

You know what it is clear now that Malone wanted to keep tyreke and was vetoed by the fools. Malone was all over tyreke the minute he was hired. Shouldn't PDA have known that the salary would go up and you can't afford to let tyreke leave and tyreke at 11mil doesn't hurt flexibility when DMC contract wouldn't kick in for 2 more seasons . We still could have traded for Gay cause Toronto wa trading him for anything. We could have had DMC, JT, Gay, Tyreke, and Ben that is a championship team in no time when you add a bench and the way Malone tought defense.
