BLNINJA #81
Bench
This just isn't working out. We have some wonderful pieces, but none of this fits together. It's like trying to jam a mismatched jigzaw together. WTF!?
First off, Hart must go.. no questions.
As much as I like Adelman (tho he makes me pull my hair at times), he must go. We may not find anyone worthy to replace him anytime soon, but his coaching style is not working with this team and it's soooo painfully obvious.
People these days make Peja out to be some sort of scrub, which he is far from being. However, his game is no longer a fit for this type of team. The offense is often broken trying to create for him while spacing is minimal due to the lack of a true dominant inside force. Trading him would be a wise option for someone who can create/drive/defend at the SF position. Other alternatives can also include someone who is a more dominating inside presence, which would require other moves for the PF position.
KT/Rahim - One of these guys must depart. Neither can get into the flow off the bench (Rahim proved this in Portland) or can provide an adequte inside presence due to size issues. Even though Rahim is our best post option at the moment, he isn't powerful enough to sustain such output defensively or on rebounding to help further this team. A trade of either player for a post/rebound type guy for PF is highly recommended. Other options would include perhaps a less skilled bench PF type who is able to spark off the bench without needing much playing time to contribute.
Bibby/Miller: Why we keep them
Reason is simple. Without them a good portion of the offense needed would be lost. Despite obvious defensive/rebounding deficiencies, we should be able to use other pieces to acquire a defender/shotblocker to help out at C or PF, in which case C would effectively move Miller over to PF.
Kevin Martin is a nice developing young player; a natural scorer when given the opportunity. Problem is, he doesn't spread the floor. Now if you have someone like Peja gone who could, you would need to have him dangling as a throwin in a trade for a spark-type 3pt shooter off the bench. Packaging him with Corliss would be a good Idea.
If Petrie isn't able to do the tasks that need to be done, perhaps he needs to be let go with Rick as well. Then just maybe we can find someone who is willing to take these wise risks. However GM's that talented don't grow on trees.. so the jury is out.. for now.
