You can't just "release" a player. Their salary is still on your books if you waive them and nobody else picks it up. This isn't NBA Live or whatever.....

The reason no one is replying is because this is a nonsense thread. Proposing picking up Ridnour alone is pretty shaky given that we already have Reke and Beno and Ridnour would be both unwilling and wildly overpriced as a third stringer. Proposing we do so by canning Beno is even shakier good Beno proved to be for us last year, and with Ridnour being a traditional small/weak PG who could not duplicate Beno's pseudo-offguard role and would be a very mild upgrade even if he were one. Ridnour wouldn't be a bad addition, but I think he would want more money than he's worth. I'd like to see the Kings do one of two things. Sign a vet to a one year contract for a reasonable price, and worry about a permanent fill, either through the next draft or through the next freeagency. Or, sign a young promising player to a 3 or 4 year contract at a reasonable price, something less than the MLE. Someone like Morrow or Redick springs to mind with the latter. I don't see Ridnour as a permanent fixture for the Kings. He's not a bad player, but he's not great at anything. He's a pesky defender, but isn't strong enough to be anything more than that. If he wants to sign at a cheap price for one year, then bring him on board. But he's not my first choice.

For someone you like so much, I'm a little surprised you don't know how to spell his name.
How about thinking this through a little bit and offering a little analysis? Who would be interested in trading for Beno? What do you think you could get for him? Why do you think Ridnour is a better player? You haven't offered anything a 5 yr old couldn't offer in terms of analysis.
Given you honestly think Ridnour is better than Beno, I honestly think you know nothing about nba pg's. I hate threads like these where the OP doesn't put an ounce of thought into their own thread. Disrespectfull to everyone who actually posts well thought out posts.

Yeesh. No we couldn't trade him for cash considerations. No one under the cap is trading for Beno's contract...because why not just sign Ridnour themselves, or Lowry, or Felton?
Even if we do find the magic get rid of Beno bullet. Ridnour is not an upgrade. Smaller, older, not as good a shooter. Beno's contract extension was absolutely stupid, we could have and should have negotiated a much lower deal....yet somehow we may have backdoored him into being worth it, because we picked up a 6'6 220 lb superstar guard who brings out the best in him. If you try to upgrade, you either do it very cheaply with a specialist, or with someone who could make a major difference. You do not do it for Luke Freaking Ridnour. This is a poorly thought out idea.

ive always liked ridnour as a back up. he has excellent ball handling ability and doesnt turn the ball over much. Add that to a solid jump shot and hes almost an ideal back up. I wouldnt go after him though since we have beno who i think is better and seemed to work well with tyreke.

That's not the point with Fisher obviously. The point would be that he just got done starting for like his 37th championship team and might be the saaviest veteranist winningest "veteran leader" you could import. That in an emergency you could call upon a guy with 5 rings to just step in, bring the ball up, and knock down clutch threes is just icing.
Fisher is the guy you get when you are a team that doesn't really need anything. And really, we don't. Our little nitpicky holes are a 3rd string PG, which Fisher would cover, and maybe some extra distance shooting, which he would again cover. Everything is accounted for. So picking up the vet champion to dispense wisdom to the kiddies on the way out the door is a viable play.

I personally am fed up with the disrespect shown on these boards. Maybe the OP is a young person, or maybe they don't pass your freakin intelligence test to join your little club or whatever but your behavior is embarrassing. This is supposed to be a community people- we should be encouraging other forum members here not acting like grade A jackasses.

I've been hearing that crap for so long and I don't buy it. Fisher is a media darling and I'm sure a nice guy to the people that know him, but he's not the leader that everyone says he is. Sure, he's really respected by everyone, but he's very arrogant. I have never once heard him take any blame for anything, but I have heard him many times take credit. Whenever he has a bad game, it's all about the team in post-game interviews.
I really don't think his propensity for inspiring speeches really make him a "leader". He's definitely not a leader on the court with his stupid decision making and inability to do anything but shoot 3's and hit free throws, and his poor shot selection ruins the shooting aspect.
I've heard a lot of things about Fisher, that he's intelligent, savy, humble, loyal, etc. and I've never witnessed any evidence of it. I think he's just one of those guys that if people say something about him enough, it becomes the truth, and everyone will remember the plays that validate their beliefs about him and overlook all the plays that invalidate their beliefs.
Fisher to me, is just another basketball player that has bought into his own hype and gotten a huge ego because of it.

Except when the game is in the final two minutes, it's tied, and you need a big shot to win. How many guys have the Kings ever had that could shoot better than Fisher in the clutch? Also, he's tough as nails and has played on several championships. He'd be great for the youngins.
While somewhat true, the fact is that he has on many occasions come up big for the Lakers. Whether he can do the same thing on a different team is yet to be determined (He didn't get to as big a stage with Utah)

Eh, there's a lot more evidence that he is a nice guy and highly respected leader than the opposite. He came into the league with minimal gifts, but took care of his body, developed a three point shot and carved out a pretty darn solid 13 year career. I'd say he's a mortal lock to be a head coach if that's the way he wants to go.
However, I do agree that his "clutch" ability is way way overrated. Early in his career he was viewed as someone who did NOT come up big in pressure moments, then he made the shot against the Spurs, the story changed and any time he hits a shot in the 4th quarter the announcers go nuts. Well, he also misses lots of shots in the 4th quarter and the rest of the game, and yet people only seem to remember the ones that he makes. He has definitely ht a lot of big shots, but that's just more a function of taking lots of shots in important playoff games.

It's not too much to ask that if you are going to start a thread, put a little thought into it. When you post on a forum, what you post is up for debate and analysis. What we do is debate/discuss. It has nothing to do with intelligence. It's a waste of time for everyone to post threads which are not thought out, or even proof read.
There are many posters on this forum who put a lot of thought into their posts and threads, and enjoy a debate. If you can't handle the debate, or differing opinions, move on, I don't care. I doesn't really matter to me if your feelings get hurt because someone doesn't share the same opinion as yours.
I'm actually surprised you got your panties in a ruffle over my post. Much worse has been said here. Much more critical and intense debates have occured here. Where have you been?

I would also point out that a lot of the "charges" he drew with the Lakers were blocking fouls when he played for GS and Utah.
