Well, those guys are all playing defense except Amare, even Blake until recently. And Blake developed as a playmaker which increased his offensive value. Do you see Bagley developing as a playmaker? It's a big leap to suggest he will be a playmaker because it's rare for bigs.

It's rare for bigs because they don't ususally have the ball a bunch. Most of the good bigs in the game (ad, demarcus, kat, blake) significantly improved their offensive game as a whole once they got to the nba. Usually happens fairly quickly too. The extra spacing surely helps these types of players. Bagley averaged more assists than demarcus and was just a little short of Blake. You really can't tell how he'll develop in that regard but I think he has a decent chance of being a plus passer for a big.

No, bigs do have the ball a bunch. There have been plenty of bigs with +30 USG. The 90's was all about dumping the ball into the big man.

Yeah, I was talking about in college. Most of these guys weren't as big a part of their team's offenses in college as they became in the pros.

We have no reliable intel that suggest what Vlade truly wants. The kings have been actually very good at keeping people guessing.
Bagley has decent passing chops for a big guy. He, Ayton and JJJ were all in line with each other and could go either way in the NBA. Carter is the best passer of the lottery guys and Bamba is the worst.
You want all your guys to be able to pass the ball. Bagley doesn't have to be Webber but you don't want him forcing through double teams when a kick out to the corner results in a wide open 3. What you don't want is a coach like Joerger coming in and running the offense through frickin Willie Cauley Stein a good percentage of the time. Talk about an inefficient way to run an offense. Teach these big guys how to pass out of double teams and make quick interior passes. They shouldn't be standing at the elbow scanning the floor while their defenders sags off them into the paint.

I don't think i've ever seen Marvin dribble the ball with his right hand more than twice time on a drive or one power dribble on the left block where he will incorrectly go back to his left hand and expose it to shot blocking.

If Sacramento is "obviously a great city" then why don't you come to visit? What a phony. And if the Kings didn't extend an invitation to you then just say you did not have the opportunity to visit. I get sick and tired of these phony comments from the likes of Porter and JJJ. Thank God they will be playing elsewhere.

Bagley does make good reads out of the post or if he catches a pass as a roll man and the defense overhelps. What I haven't seen is him being able to create plays with his dribble for other people which is exceedingly rare for a big. Blake can do it and while Draymond isn't a tarditional big man he can also do it. Jokic also can do it, even if does does most of his brilliant work as a hub in the high post. The guy can run the fast break as a ball handler and make plays for others. Jokic is the best offensive big man in the nba and is still behind quite a few wings and guards.

I just watched Scot Pollards take on the draft though and he believes that Bagley is the best player in the draft and wouldn't touch Doncic in the top 10. Pollard isn't a "draft expert" but hes been right many times in the past which makes me respect his opinion.
If he said he wouldnt touch Doncic top 10, it should say everything about how reliable his evaluation is

I just recall looking back on his thoughts and going, man he was right. Not just on Thomas Robinson too. If there was a definitive list i'd give it to you but my memory doesn't contain it. I'm open to being proven wrong though. Regardless I think Scott Pollard is very intelligent.

Yeah, Scot needs to take his own advice and lay off the drugs.
He seems to have achieved cult status here as an evaluator. I'd personally take his opinions with a grain of salt.
He said that more because he hasn't seen much of him. He made that clear.
Hopefully Vlade is just really playing his cards well and seeing what kind of potential trade value he can get (if needed) because I really think the Kings would be making a big mistake if they don't draft Luka tomorrow. The only viable alternative to save face would be to trade down to the 3-7 range and acquire another pick.
Granted his foot speed is a concern but I've seen enough of Luka now to realize that his basketball IQ, passing ability, leadership, and heart/desire are really rare and they're especially rarely all visible in a 19 year old. He may never be a superstar himself as a scorer but as I've mentioned before I think he has the ability to help a guy like Fox or Giles turn into a superstar and also make guys like Buddy even better.
When you think about NBA busts, how many obvious ones are known for having a great basketball IQ, leadership, making teammates better, good bal handlers, and play with heart/desire? The answer is not very many. Guys with lots of innate unteachable intangibles generally don't fail.
Most early round busts are guys like Thomas Robinson and Ben McLemore that are great athletes but lack basketball IQ and intangibles. In the case of McLemore and Jimmer, both were also poor ball handlers for their SG positions.

Right and he also said we should take Frank Mason over Josh Jackson last year. The idea that Pollard is some kind of draft guru because he accurately predicted two Kansas guys not improving in the NBA (nevermind that they were both surrounded by the most dysfunctional coaching/front-office situation in the league while they were here) feels apocryphal to me.

I'm with you. I certainly don't see him as an all-knowing draft guru. He actually annoys me with how highly he thinks of himself (through Twitter). I just knew he was right on about those two.
I also recall him telling Grant that Buddy would bust.

The take away from that for me is that he thought Frank Mason was a good player. From what I saw last year, I think he was right.
