Baja’s the best. But I think he needs game film for his analyses.
I'm fairly certain he's familiar with his high school tape, which I don't think anyone else on the forum is.
I'm not allowed within 500ft of high school tape.

Imo, kings need a 3rd star. Fox/Sabonis isn't enough.
And ideally this 3rd star is someone that can shoot and offer something different than Fox/Sabonis.
It would help spacing a bunch and could make things work

Shaedon Sharpe: this kid's ceiling is the moon and his floor is probably a solid starter.
I don't think the Kings have a shot at him, but if he's there at #7 (or wherever the Kings pick will be outside the top three), I think he's too talented to pass up.
The best a Kangz fan can hope for is that he pushes a talented wing player down to the Kings.

Yeah even if we drop to 8, 2 of the 2nd tier:
Davis, Mathurin, Murray, Sharpe, Griffin will be available at our pick. Not a horrible spot to be in.

Interesting. Hopefully one of these gamble guys rise up and drop more proven options to the Kings.

If we had traded Fox for Simmons, we wouldn't have had a first round pick to take anyone with. Philly wanted Fox plus 3 first round picks for Simmons. Both Jones and Ayo were taken before our second round pick. So your entire example listed above couldn't have happened.

Yeah, I've spent the last couple of days watching highschool film of Sharpe. A lot of it is impressive, but I normally don't put a lot of stock in highschool film. However, when it's all you got along with some Nike under 17 film You don't have a lot of choice. I spent 5 or 6 hours today watching back to back to back etc. LSU games. Obviously Tari Eason, but I also wanted to get another look at his running mate Darius Days. I'm totally all in on Eason. I was before, but I've moved him up on my board. His outside shot is a bit funky, but correctable. And he finished the season at a respectable 36% from three. I haven't taken a deep dive on him yet, but I'll bet he's close to 40% on catch and shoots
I'm not done with Sharpe yet, and because there's not much to go on, there's more risk. But what I can see looks impressive. We do have his measurements because Kentucky run's it's own mini combine prior to every season, so the measurements they post are accurate and that makes Sharpe 6'6" and weighing 201 lb's. He also has a 7'0" wingspan, so for a SG, he has great size and length. He'a also a freak athlete. He has serious hops. Almost all his drives to the basket were straight line. Doesn't mean he can't weave through traffic, I just didn't see it. He has nice form on his jumpshot and a quick release. He'll need to create more space with his stepback in the NBA, but it's a minor thing.
Before everyone jumps on his bandwagon, I heard two draft guru's having a discussion and one said, if for some reason Patrick Baldwin Jr. couldn't have played this year, would you still have him in the lottery based on his original projection? How about Jaden Hardy? He had a point! Neither of those players are going to be drafted where they were originally projected. Some mocks have one or both of them in the 2nd rd. How about Brandon Boston last year? So there is some risk drafting a player without having all the data. Baldwin probably wishes he hadn't played this year. I will say this, what I did see of Sharpe was impressive. For what that's worth!
Your last paragraph is exactly what I've been thinking too. He looks really good on film, but where would Skal have gone if he was drafted on HS tape instead of his one year at Kentucky. I think McNair is feeling the pressure to win now, and while Sharpe could be a homerun swing, I don't think he'll take it.
Sharpe seems like an OKC pick to me.
As far as Eason, I've been high on him for a while and if he can hit from outside consistently, he's a great fit with Fox and Sabonis on both sides of the ball. If the Kings don't move up (or move down a slot or two) I'd consider him at 7 or 8 if none of the top guys drop and Murray is gone at 5 or 6 as expected. But if McNair could trade down a few spots and nab Eason while getting something else of value, that would be great too.

5 star players look world class against HS competition, so I would pause for that alone. I’ve been trying to get the reasoning for why he didn’t play this year. It wasn’t injuries. Was it eligibility, because he jumped a class? Though usually when players jump a class, they’re just returning to their original class, because they’re held back a year for physical development.

I deal with reality, not your dream trade. You can wish that we traded Fox for Simmons and the 28th pick all you want, it wasn't ever a possibility in the real world. Last Summer, Philly made it clear they would want Fox, the King's 1st round pick and 2 future 1st round picks for Simmons. I believe they also wanted Heild as well. That was when Fox was at his highest worth. So once again, the proposed moves you feel Monte should've done simply were a fantasy.

Monte dragged his feet. That was before the draft, when Fox had his highest value, and Simmons had its lowest. This board wanted Simmons and a first for Fox.
As for reality, well, Fox tanked his value. He sucked. And even without a Simmons trade, I woukdve targeted the players that I mentioned then and numerous other posts. Trading up to at a minimum to grab Jones or Ayo in the late first or early second, which wouldve been more than possible had Monte not dumped seconds in order to get rid of Cojo.

If we like someone in the 12 range maybe we could swing a trade with OKC? They have 3 picks in the first round and need to start consolidating. If we end up 8th maybe we trade that for 12, 30 and 34.

And after seeing Fox used correctly AGAIN, I'd want 2 firsts and Simmons for a player like Fox.

Any time you can trade a bunch of picks and your best young player for a guy with apparently serious back problems, you've gotta do it.
A lot of people here are big on Eason who might fall to 12 but I think its just as likely he goes higher. He does look like the type of forward you want to throw in the mix and address our glaring weakness.
I’d want more for our 7th or 8th pick, as nice as it would be to have another 1st, 30 and 34 are to much of a gamble and im still scared by the 2016 / 17drafts.

Yeah, the problem with moving down 5 spots is that you no longer get to choose who you want from that second tier of prospects, you're going to end up with whoever everyone else passes on. That might still be a really good player (like Haliburton) but you're taking a big risk that everyone you like gets taken early or you're stuck with another BPA who doesn't fit your roster. Eason is the type of player teams are falling over themselves to take early the last few years -- a long, rangy, combo forward defender. He could go anywhere from 5 to 18 or so but I expect he'll go earlier than projected.
The one trade down scenario I like is if we get a top 4 pick and Houston falls below us but is still in the top 5. I'd try to trade down a couple spots in that situation to get Usman Garuba from them because my top prospects this year are Keegan Murray and Benedict Mathurin and one of them will still be there at 5. Garuba was the guy I wanted last year, he would fit perfectly next to Sabonis as our defensive specialist at the PF position, and Houston isn't even using him with Sengun (and presumably either Holmgren, Banchero, or Smith) soaking up their frontcourt minutes.

The problem here is it doesn't matter what the Kings wanted. Philly wanted Fox and 3 firsts for Simmons, which means the trade never had any chance of taking place.

Philly wanted a bunch firsts in addition to Fox after he sucked during that first half. Like everything in life, timing is everything.
