Lets Get IGGY!!!!

Entity

Hall of Famer
Ok guys we can fix all this with one trade now. we have to make some noise here to Jones, Amick and Cunningham to maybe make it get in petrie's ear. With PG pretty much done now and Tyreke a SG now for sure here is how it can happen.

Thorton (good shooter/scorer)
Garcia (valuble expiring contract)
IF NEEDED

Jimmer or draft pick

IT/Brooks or Brooks/IT Jimmer if not traded
Tyreke/Salmons Jimmer if not traded
Iggy/Johnson/Outlaw/honeycutt
JT/Trob/Hayes
Cousin/D-block/JT

i can live with that for now

Philly would never accept that trade, they could do MUCH better.

Next?

I am sure they would like to do much better but not with a 14 million dollar contract that only averages 12-14 pts a game. That contract is an albatross to them. The Garcia expiring is very valuable.

I think the trade makes sense and Philly should accept it. However, if Iggy's contract is so bad to them who's to say it won't be just as bad for us? He's their best player, but if he came here would clearly be taking a backseat behind Cuz and possibly Tyreke (if he steps up). Now you're paying 14mil for a 3rd option. Is that bad for us?

No, not much. Iggy has a huge contract. You have seen repeatedly this summer that is becoming sucha concern guys are going for pennies on the dollar. And Thornton ain't pennies. As I've mentioned before though, they jsut went out and signed Nick Young, so I see now way Thornton could play in that same backcourt now.

i have looked at most rosters with SF that would work. Some would but at the expense of Tyreke. I am just not sure i want MT as our starting SG going foward. I really like his offense but I hate his defense even more. Hence why he is the one I would be willing to part with.

I want to move MT because this team already has enough scorers. I'd even be willing to take on an avg and overpaid SF if that means getting rid of one of Hayes/Salmons/Garcia/Outlaw too.

We're currently at the salary cap level, so the thought of us taking any extra salary on through trades is long gone. Enjoy JT, JJ and Aaron Brooks, though. :)

If we want MT to start at SG we better have a pass-first, defensive PG and a defensive SF.

Its not a bad haul talentwise. That's not the issue. Its the lack of fit/coherent teambuilding, the holes unaddressed while other roles get half a dizen guys stacked up in them etc. that is dismaying.

Wow. I'm sure that if we can just tell Petrie he needs to trade for Iguodala then it will magically happen. I'm surprised he never thought of it himself!

It makes too much sense to acquire a guy like Iggy right now, it will never happen. Thornton + Garcia's expiring should get it done. They'll save a mil this year, and 7 next year while getting younger wth only a slight downgrade in talent.
The Kings will essentially fix their roster imbalance. A swingman rotation of Reke/Iggy/Salmons and is well above avg on D, and will make up for Brooks (well below avg) and IT (avg but undersized).
Then frontlines of Iggy/JT/Cuz and JJ/Trob/Hayes should be avg, with the potential to be above avg.

And then it opens up spot minutes for Jimmer in the backcourt if he lights it up or Brooks is terrible/hurt. You can play Jimmer next to Reke/Iggy because they can both handle and defend.

Or we could just be an ahole and see what happens. We can just mimick your personality

bajaden here! Lets apply some logic.. We just signed Johnson, who is goog defender at the small forward position. If Petrie, who I spoke with briefly yesterday, was at all interested, or had anything in the works regarding Iggy, he wouldn't have prusued Johnson. Iggy is a pipe dream, and unless Philly calls Petrie with an absolute no brainer, it pointless to even discuss this.

Isn't it pretty much pointless to discuss any trade scenario any of us as FANS come up with. I've seen Rudy gay threads Danny granger threads Dwight Howard threads but this is totally out of the question?

It's not pointless to discuss trade scenarios. It's kind of what fans do. But the idea that we need to get the beat writers to talk to our GM to tell him to acquire a SF who is obviously better than any on our squad - as if Petrie had no clue that Iguodala existed and once we got the word to him the light bulb would click on - is laughable.

We obviously haven't traded for Iguodala, and there's a reason. Whether it's because he's not on the market, or because the front office doesn't want to pay his contract, or because Philly is asking too much, or because we don't really like him that much, or because Philly is fielding other offers, or even because we don't want to pull the trigger on a deal while Team USA is working its way through the Olympics so as not to disrupt things...that we don't know. But I can guarantee it's not because the beat writers haven't been whispering in Petrie's ear.

I never said that was the reason why did I? Let me check.... No I didn't. I mean does it hurt? Maloofs want to impress fans right now right? Why no at least test it out see what the price is. In the end isn't it all about making fans happy enough to shell out the $. I mean we can talk about who sucks on the team and who don't til we turn blue. I'm sick of that

Sure you did.

I'm not sure how else to interpret that, other than "our front office isn't competent enough to identify good trade targets without our help". I really don't.

Bajaden again! You can discuss any trade you want. But using the idea of other bad idea trade discussions as justification for this one, is illogical. One bad idea doesn't justify another one. But hey have at it. Gotta head over to the arena to catch some games with Uncia03.

Baja,
If you were wearing a black Kings shirt, wear glasses, and your wife was with you I saw you on tv yesterday. A star was born.

You should just quit. This one is actually plausible. We have the assets and the need. It's entirely possible if Johnson halts any acquisition of a LEGIT SF. Then we are a sinking ship for sure
