Leading Off: Mock draft not kind to Kings

By Bill Bradley

"Here's a reality check for Kings fans: Your team's not making the playoffs...

...Any of these players would do well, but it's becoming apparent that Evans is more of a shooting guard than a point. And the best point guards available after Wall would be Michigan State's Kalin Lucas and Kansas' Sherron Collins – who are projected to be drafted around the 25th pick.

I wonder if the Timberwolves would deal the rights to Ricky Rubio?"

The Sacramento Bee has got to have the worse stinking lineup of sports reporters of any major US city! We have arguably the worst frontcourt in the NBA, and this guy is talking about drafting a point guard?! WTF? We could have John Stockton on this team, and we'd still be a losing team.

Here's a reality check to you Bill Bradley. You suck as a sports reporter, and maybe you should try to watch some Kings games sometime instead of copying Ailene Voison.

It would be interesting to pair Rubio and Evans.. Rubio is pass first, and Evans likes to have the ball. My only issue with this would be whether or not Evans can move without the ball well enough to get open.. He has done better than I thought he would have so far, but he would be technically going against bigger guards playing SG.

That being said I don't think Petriw likes Rubio's game, and we have no reason to get him at this point.

its funny that they talk about the kings finishing as low as 6th when we were dead last a year ago and didnt get the number 1 pick. but bill bradley had everything else pretty spot on, we arent making the playoffs and at this point we are looking forward to the lottery...

With that said, let's look forward to the NBA draft lottery. ESPN.com has relaunched its Draft Lottery Machine with an interesting mock draft.
At this rate, the Kings (16-32) should finish with the fourth-, fifth- or sixth-worst record. Unless they win the lottery, don't plan on having Kentucky star John Wall in the backcourt alongside Tyreke Evans.
A few clicks on the Lottery Machine shows the Kings getting:
North Carolina's Ed Davis, who is called an efficient, but not dominant, power forward.
• Or Wake Forest's Al-Farouq Aminu, a raw small forward who runs like a guard.
• Or Kansas' Cole Aldrich, who is considered the college game's best center.
Any of these players would do well, but it's becoming apparent that Evans is more of a shooting guard than a point. And the best point guards available after Wall would be Michigan State's Kalin Lucas and Kansas' Sherron Collins – who are projected to be drafted around the 25th pick.

That really was rather pathetic.

I should note however, and so should you and everybody forced to read that stuff, that Bradley's apparent philosophy as the sports editor has been to stir the pot. He's an intentional jerk, and probably thinks he succeeded by having you post this. Any publicity is good publicity rihgt?

Ok, game is on, I am watching second half -- no time to check now. But if this was from the sacbee website please change your post to make it a blurb + a link to the place where it came from ok? If it was just twitter or something, then do not worry.

Bill Bradley is the guy who decided Mark Kreidler wasn't needed at the Bee. He's the sports editor and, as Bricklayer has pointed out, he exists to create controversy and try and get people to buy the Bee.

If Bill Bradley fired Grasswich, Marty Mac, and kept Alien Poison doing sports, he is a moronic baffoon! I have long held that the Bee's Sports editor and the entire sports staff is a circus of fools. Really no quality reporting at all accept for the possible exception of Scott Howard Cooper. And he couldnt make it anywere but here really. Sacramento is a deadspace for sports reporters.

I'm pretty sure he got rid of Scott Howard-Cooper as well.

Yoohoo twolves how bout Noc for Rubio? At least Noc plays in the nba :D

I wouldn't mind trading Martin and having a backcourt of rubio and evans. It would shut some people up at least...
