Lamar Odom

Kingster

Hall of Famer
Why the heck not? He's a great talent who had a terrible year last year. I'm certainly not betting that he's going to continue being terrible. He's going to revert to his mean, and that's pretty darned good. Knicks are talking trade with the Mavs. The Kings should be doing the same. You want a 3? He's right there, and given his performance last year, you probably get a bargain price...

I can't imagine Odom being focused and willing to do his best for this team. He wasn't able to do it in Dallas with the defending champions, so I have very high doubts about his attitude. In Dallas they put him in the inactive list because he was a cancer for that team, and this is the last thing I want for the Kings.
He's a diva, he wants the big markets, that's why NY is trying to get him, maybe they think he will be back to his Lakers days if he plays in NY.

So, no, thank you.

Not sure whether you're aware of the personal issues that Odom was going through this season. If you do I think it warrants giving him some slack with the whole "cancer for that team" thing.

OMG no. Besides his personal issues that effect his game we can get a player with his skillset by trading up and drafting T. Jones for a much lower price. Imagine if we get him and he plays terrible then we would be on the hook with Outlaw, Salmons and then a freshly signed 33/34 year old Odom, this has a high chance of blowing up in our face really bad.

He's married to the least-crazy Kardashian. I guess that counts for something.

What gives you the idea Lamar Odom would even consider coming to Sacramento? With all the drama in his life recently, I'd hazard a guess that the very last thing in the world he would want is still more drama. And, aside from that, I cannot imagine a Kardashian in Sacramento...

Odom has the reputation throughout his career of disappearing in games. Thats always been one of the knocks on him. That at times he seems to lack motivation. Using the 1000 game theory, that few NBA players ever play over 1000 games in thier career, and the fact that Odom has already played in 879 games. Its very possible that you would aquiring a 33 year old, unmovitated player with little left in the tank. I'll pass thank you!

On another note, quick fixes seldom work. Most o the good teams are built through the draft and by making intelligent decisions in freeagency and trades. Yes, the Celtics pulled it off, but they're the exception and not the rule. You could point to the Kings aquisition of Chris Webber as an example of it working. But it should be pointed out that we aquired Webb, still a young player, by trading a old star (Mitch Richmond), who had already played in a lot of games (751) and who had little left in the tank. Which end of that trade would you want to be on?

Odom is a three. Let's get Odom!

Wooohooo!

Let our young players learn from Odom. His attitude is awesome and we need more drama in this team. And maybe, our players can learn how to be divas too!

Odom?

F that turd.

He has been a problem child for a long time. I don't think basketball is the highest thing on his life's agenda. Now, perhaps one should value your wife and kids more than your job but if I had a basketball team, I would want my players placing wife and kids 2nd and 3rd. :) Odom is far away from being that type of guy.

Why not? How about the fact that the guy can't play anymore. He's terrible.

As a fan, I never liked Odumb's game when he was a decent player, let alone now when he sucks.

Id rather have TWO John Salmons over one Odumb. Yes, I realize that is saying a lot .....

You need to quit holding back and say what you really feel! Quit being a pantywaist....:D

I would, but then the mods would get mad. :p

Back before we traded Ron Ron for Greene and Omri, I was one of the few who would have been OK with the rumored Ron for Odom trade. Think that could have been win win for both parties (not that I ever want the Lakers to win). And if it wasnt for his terrible season last year, I'd still be open to going after Odom, but what he did to the Mavs is friggin disgraceful. Dude gets paid millions to play a game and couldnt be bothered to give 10% effort just because he was all butthurt. Dont want that near our team.

absolutley i would want lamar odom. this team needs veteran players who can be leaders. im not sure what i would be willing to pay him since he was terrible last season but i would love to see him in a kings uniform next season. and odom is not a 3. he is a 4. He openly said he was very unhappy last year in dallas playing so much small forward.

Odom is the last guy I want around young players.

Odom had been a professional his entire career. dont let 1 season undermine what he has done his entire career.

If you knew anything about Odom, you would know that he's never been a leader. As a matter of fact, almost everytime in his career that he's been named the man, he's disappeared from sight. There's your fantasy Odom, and then there's the real Odom.

If you knew anything about Odom you know that being "the man" is just not who he is. He is a very good role player. You dont have to be the man to be a leader. shane battier has never been the man but every team in the league needs a guy like shane battier. The kings need veteran players that can still play and show our young guys the ropes. Odom has played with Kobe and Dwade. I would love to see him in a kings uniform.

Since when is it relevant in a non-FA situation whether a guy wants to be traded to another team or not? Was it relevant for Webber when he was traded to Sacramento?

Odom is pretty unlikely to be traded in order to be used. He's got an $8.2M contract for next year that's only $2.4M guaranteed, so any team dealing for him (before the end of June) is likely doing it in order to cut him and save on their cap. Either that or Dallas cuts him after failing to trade him. That means that Odom will most likely be a free agent, at which point his choice of destination is entirely relevant.

Though it's not terribly unusual for teams to take into account whether or not a player might not want to play for them before making a trade. Webber did threaten not to report to Sacramento, if you recall, and it became something of a staring contest. It could potentially have gone worse.
