not to mention bryant FLOPPING on that reke fast break he didnt have position.... ive seen a couple of laker cheap fouls in that game... just WoW..

He has the POTENTIAL to be that superstar, but that doesn't mean you let him isolate every key play. The Kings have improved because of team basketball, and they can't expect to win by riding Evans at this point. He may become that player as he develops, but right now, he's not.

I'm proud of the way the Kings played. They played with heart, intensity, and played TEAM ball. Then inexplicably Coach and Reke decided the way to go was to do Iso's for the final 8 minutes of overtime. It's just baffling.

Yes, they did win a lot of them between 01 and 04. But from 99-01 they lost a bunch of them. That's my point.

Don't forget the Lakers live in the paint. Most of us don't even think about it because its such a rare call... but as soon as the Kings got called for a BS 3 in the key early in the game I started counting every time a Laker entered the paint... I'm just gonna say that the rule might as well be changed to 7 in the key.

If some idiot fan of the defending world champs comes out of a double overtime win over a team which won 17 games last year and starts one of the youngest lineups in the league, and starts taunting, the very simple response should be to laugh your *** off at him for being pathetic.

You and Westphal clearly have different teaching philosophies. Westphal is teaching by putting his players in positions where they will make mistakes and learn for themselves.
I really think you have the wrong idea, and that you underestimate the relationship that Westphal has established with his players. These aren't pet dogs that you are training, these are some of the most gifted athletes in the world the a huge desire to win, as well as already possessing incredible heart. Not only is it likely that they will make mistakes as they grow, it is absolutely necessary.

there should be a hard foul in every shot attempt.. i mean if he's going to fake you for a j FLOOR him..

I'm sorry, but it's time to start winning these games. How many times do they have to learn the same thing. a 7 point lead with 3 minutes left in the game and you go in to a prevent offense. STUPID. Take 12 seconds to get in to their offense. I'm very frustrated right now with this team. It's time to remember what you learned from the game before and apply it to the next game.

if the world champions needed TWO overtimes..... 3 refs to win against a 17 win team with out martin, AND one of the youngest starting lineup.. they need to give their rings back.. they dont deserve it then

Some are nice, reasonable folks. But many are the worst kind of fan. The type of fan who only roots for winning teams, boos their team last night at home, and thinks that they are the ones winning when the team wins. And act like it. Fans of teams that win alot have to put up with that kind of fan hanging on.

I dont think Reke should have been benched, but it was clear after about 3 straight bad decisions by him that we needed to go to someone else for offense.
When you lose a game so close, there are a hundred different things you can point too. Dont forget the missed FT's and the phantom calls on Brock ..
We could have won the game, but we didnt. I dont think it was talent, we just went into 'stupid mode'. The only way the Lakers were going to win or tie in the first overtime was if we let them, and boy did we let them.

If we continue to give games away, through the rest of this year and next, then I'll start to really worry about how much this team is learning.

Except I believe the lesson Tyreke learned isn't better than the lesson that the entire team would have learned had they won the game off of their hard work and passion. He didn't put the players in position to make mistakes, he put Tyreke in position to make mistakes, while the rest of the team was forced to watch their hard work being squandered.

I absolutely love Westphals response to why he gave Tyreke the ball at the end of the game and let him isolate on Kobe. "He's our guy. People questioned when they ran plays like that for Kobe at the beginning of his career too".

I don't mind the 1on1 ISO. That's fine. But at least call a timeout so you can make sure Reke will start the play with more than 3 seconds left on the clock!

I see what you trying to say. Evans did not execute because he wanted to take on Kobe and Brown every time without recognizing what the defense was giving him. His job should be setting up the play for the team. Just to score all the time in the those clear outs are not what Westphal had intended. He will learn but in order for that to happen he must recognize sometimes the best play is the one where he creates for others instead of his self. It will make his game easier once he learns, of which I have no doubt he will.
