And fact of the matter is that Kobe's style has won him a ring; 3 consecutive rings in fact.
I think Shaq had a little something to do with those rings. Kobe wanted to be the man now he is. We'll see what he does as the leader.

This guy is a truly a great player I would even put him in the top 10 players of the modern era of basketball. I only wish Pedja was as competive and had the drive of Kobe. I never seen any player that works as hard as Kobe has on his game. He is truly remarkable. I got to see some of the game and the things he does on the basketball court I just shake my head at.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kobe Bryant accomplished something Michael Jordan never did.
Or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Or Larry Bird.
Or anyone else in more than 41 years. Bryant scored 45 points, making him the first player to score at least that many in four consecutive games since November 1964, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Indiana Pacers 96-90 Monday night for their third straight victory.

True, but again, we can say this about any great player. Kareem, Worthy, and Riley had quite a bit to do with Magic winning five. Pippen, Rodman, Horace, and Jackson had a lot to do with Jordan winning 6. Etc.

"The last player to score at least 45 or more points in four consecutive games was Wilt Chamberlain in November 1964, according to the Elias Sports Bureau."

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. Wilt Chamberlain is trash.

Bean's last 3 gms:
47.6 PPG
9.3 RPG
5.0 APG
.490 FG % (50/102)
.571 3PT % (16/28)
.771 FT% (27/35)
so, kobe averages 34 shots a game with 11.67 free throw attempts to go along. that means he is responsible almost for half of the offensive possessions of the whole team. jussssssssst great!

Way it goes, wasn't Jordan that dominant even when Pippen was a good player? A 5-gm losing streak is fresh in my memory when he wasn't averaging that. When he had that 12-gm 35+ pt streak a few years ago, they won at a much higher clip than they did to start out with. It's all about the W's. At least Kobe wants to win. Not every team has the luxury of players who really hate to lose.....................

And 34.8 shots a game! Spectacular numbers. But then again, makes it easier when you play keepaway with the ball.

Jordan topped out at 27.8 BTW.

From what I understand, as the season progresses and his guys improve in the tri offense, his shot attempts will go down eventually. Don't you think that he already knew what people like you will say? To win games, he'll still do it, even if it means he'd have to take on a little more bad rep in the process.

If he shoulders that many shots (and responsibilities), you can either say that he's selfish, or you can say that he works harder than anyone else on the floor. I know for a fact that Kobe work the hardest on his game, be it in practice or game time. I really admire him for that. America is the land for people who works hard, and Kobe is the apex of hard working.

Kobe doesn't jump as high as MJ. He isn't as tall as Magic. Kobe isn't strong like Shaq. He doesn't have the shooting touch of Bird. All of his talents come from working hard and driving to win.

^ I mean, just look at how hard it takes to shake off his opponent or double team coverage and get his shot off, let alone make the shot. It's just amazing how difficult the moves are, and how hard he has to train to improve.

Oh good lord.

ANY attempt to claim that one of the best athletes in the league somehow has had to work harder than a Magic or Bird type character to be great (althought not AS great) is ridiculous. I'll give you Shaq.

Doesn't seem to be working that way. I would typify it as closer to "as the season progresses Kobe will eventually batter and cow his teammates into giving the ball on every single posession, two or three times if needed, for him to get a shot off. Any deviation from this plan will reult in a screaming snarling diva fit."

He is awesome, but I'm sorry he takes a ridiculously large amount of shots. That number is just wrong on so many levels, In the long run he's hurting his team.

... And please don't compare that guy to Magic and Bird, it's just stupid.

In no way I'm saying that Kobe is less athletic than Magic or Bird. I meant that Magic's height helped his passing, in one way or the other. So, Kobe has to work harder if he wants to posess Magic's passing ability (and Bird's shooting touch, which he doesn't have yet).

And I can't disagree with your typification at the moment. ;)

when you're a basketball legend, like magic or bird, everybody has to work harder than you, so the above statement isn't saying much.

No one's passing like Magic no matter how much they work on it. No one short of Stockton, who was much more bread 'n butter.

Kobe is to scoring as Magic is to passing. Kobe displays so many amazing moves in his offensive game that are rarely seen in one single player in the history of basketball. Just like how Magic could pass the ball in every possible way. It's just fun to see Kobe play, because you'd probably see something you haven't seen before (or rarely do).

I'm not really surprised he's scoring the way he's scoring cause every year he has a run similar to this, but what I'm really surprised about is that this damn laker team is winning... I also keep losing money betting against them and I also made a 50 dollar bet that the kings would have a better record than the lakers come season end and that bet aint looking too good right now for me...

Kobe lost yesterday, but he was happy... His 40 pt streak is still alive... The games already over but what does he do? Attack the basket just to get his 40th and 41st points of the game... I'm not saying there's anything wrong with scoring at the end of the game when you're losing, but why did he shy away from the ball on the next possesion? Cause he already got his streak up to 5 games.... Good job and congratulations kobe!! Some class... Might as well call him ricky davis...

The fact that Portland was trying their best to deny him getting the ball had nothing to do with it.

Plus the streak most tv heads have been talking about was 4 consecutive 45 point games. He failed to get his 5th so your insane theory is flawed.

You're a fanatic, duke. Ooh, he scored an open dunk w/ 30 secs left. Should he have passed to someone for a lesser-percentage shot? Should he have drawn a 24 sec vio?

Freakout, I'm talking about the FORTY point streak... He's tied at 9 with jordan for the record... I do NOT want him to beat it...

Gargy, answer me this... Why did he shy away from the ball after the dunk???

Well, Kobe outdid Lebron tonight, not necessarily in overall stats, but by scoring 6 points in the last 90 seconds to help the Lakers beat the Cavs by one. Give Lebron an assist in the Lakers victory for not only missing one of two free throws (needing both to tie the game with a few seconds left), but for shooting 4-9 from the line for the game. Yuck.

Well, ONEZERO, Kobe didn't score his forty, but man...

I know you really hate Kobe, but you can't take anything away from him after what he did tonight.

After disappearing because of a strained wrist, then out of nowhere hit the 3 biggest shots of the game to win it?

Wow...

For the first time ever on a public board...I give props to Kobe...That was the stuff of legends there...
