Shaq's poor conditioning NIXED their chances at winning the 2003 title. Same as 2004 where Ben Wallace was hopping all around him for boards.

That's why he's gone now.

You're in Laker denial. The Lakers are bad without Kobe, and Kobe is the reason the franchise is where it's at today. Get a clue.

Kobe didn't drive him out. Buss traded him so he didn't have to pay him upwards of 30 mill a year for a center on the decline w/ no guarantee of staying in shape. Look at him now.

No more allowing your man to go baseline 40 times like Smush let Kidd do in an OT loss this year. No more getting juked out of the building like Stoudamire did to Sasha for a game-tying three. No more missing a 1-ft shot to win a game at the buzzer like Mihm did. No more driving to the rim w/ a 5 pt lead and 28 secs like Odom did. No more leaving your man wide open for a game-tying three like Kwame did. See the progression?

As a fan, you may want your team win and in order to achieve that some players can get screwed. As an organization, you want to win it all and you can screw some players. This is all business and it will happen in every team. Still, this does not change the fact that it is bad for those players.

Oh, and as I mentioned in my previous post, it is still their problem.

What i like about PJ is that he lets his players learn through mistakes. In the kings game he knew that Lamar made a mistake but still he gave him the ball at end of regulation. He could have easily drawn the play for Kobe to come of multiple screens to get the ball, instead it was LO who had the ball to learn.

However to balance things out he needs to let kobe takever, else they will loose forever and not make the playoffs. When you have that weapon why not use him, it would be foolish of him to not use him and the more Kobe asserts himself offensively the other players will have more space, maybe loose their confidence but thats for PJ to figure out

I am not a Kobe fan by any means, but what we are watching now is a legend in the making. Scoring 81 points in a single game while half the NBA teams have a hard time breaking 80 on a regular basis is an accomplishment for anybody. I hate to do it but I have to give props for Kobe. When I heard the news frommy sister, I thought she was out of her mind until I turned on ESPN. That was an amazing performance put on my a special athlete. We might not see another performance like this in our lifetime.

1. This one is totally speculation, but if I was a player over there, I wouldn't be satisfied with myself. Years from now, when I look myself and ask what I have achieved... Well, I got Kobe's autograph!

But after all, it is their problem. This is still quite an achievement.

1. Financially they are going to be hurt when their contracts are up. Sure, some of them already earn a lot and basically getting their paychecks w/o doing anything, but this still does not change what's going to happen in the future. Plus, Mihm is earning about $4,000,000, Luke $1,250,000, Vujacic $910,000 and Smush $750,000 and they have one more year. I think these guys deserve more when time comes, but with this rate it is questionable.

I think you misunderstood me (or I get you wrong now ). It is not about if LA would have the money, but it is about would these other players really be worth the money. If I'll pay more money, I'd consider spending that money on some defensively sound players since Kobe does the offense almost single handedly. Or, I'd sign them to a much cheaper contract than they are really worth for.

I was looking at this from the players' perspective, not the organizations', or fans', and this still does not shadow what Kobe has achieved.
