Kobe going for 70?

#62
Eeeeeh, they're gettin paid. They didn't have to give him the ball that much if they reeeeeeeeeely didn't want to.

"They're ain't no I in team."
"Yeah, well they're ain't no we neither..."

heh. good times.

There is a reason they call it the L.A. Kobes. Phil better damn well hope his only player doesn't go down with an injury. Kobe can say it all he wants, but I will never ever believe it is about winning. All it is about, or has ever been about, is Kobe Bryant.

Wow, turns out we've got some real homers on this board.

The man just scored 81 freaking points. On one hand people say everyone on the Lakers but Kobe sucks and on the other they say he's a real ballhog. Hello? This doesn't make sense.

Give the man his props. What an incredible individual show. I never thought I'd see a player score more than 80 points in a game in this era. Unbelievable.

And for all this Laker bashing I think we'd better keep a few things in mind:
1. the lakers have a better record than us.
2. They won tonight, so what's the problem w/ Kobe's performance?
3. We might have beaten them but we were damn lucky to do it.

Eh, I'm going to contest #3: I don't think that we were lucky to beat the Lakers, any more than I think that we we've been "lucky" to beat the Clippers, or "lucky" to beat to Suns. Or that the Jazz were "lucky" to sweep the Pistons. There's a such a thing as matchups, and it's quite possible that we beat the Lakers because we match up well against them.

It was a great effort on his part. I don't even mind the 3 pointers he was jacking up with less than a minute to go and them up double digits.

Yeah no complaint here, the kid hit 60% of his shots from the field and did the most importat thing for a Laker win these days... keep the ball out of Odom's hands. But the folks that are making a comparason to Webber would be better served to back out before people actualy look at both stat lines. ;)

Heh, think the OTHER way around. Too bad for the Suns/Sonics. They put up a hek of a show, and Kobe has to grand-stand and take away all the buzz with his modern-day-record-breaking-performence :)
no, its all over shadowed by the Seahawks and Steelers since we now know who is gonna be in the superbowl. Kobe is an amazing and great player. he had one hell of a game tonite. Let the kobe haters keepin hatin'... i find it funny

81pts on 46 shots is TREMENDOUS.

And to do it in a game that was competitive for the first 40min is also amazing.

In any case this crosses that line -- if you can't tip your hat to this, then you've got a real problem. A one man throwback game. Scored more points than our whole TEAM did yesterday. In overtime. In fact would have singlehandedly beat us or Orlando in regulation.

Nobody has approached something like this in 30 years.

truly a spectacular performance... that 3rd quarter run was just incredible to watch. say whatever you want, but this goes down as one of the top 5 regular season games ever played in the NBA by ANYONE!

His performance tonight transcends petty little differences like what jersey he's wearing.

I've asked you before - please don't make the same mistake as some others around here. Taunting isn't cool; and in this case it certainly doesn't do anything except diminish what Bryant accomplished. You're on a Kings board. We're also NBA fans, and for that reason we will acknowledge Kobe's accomplishment.

I like triple-taked at the screen when I first saw this at NBA.com.

I saw "Night of eighties" and disregarded it, then saw "Second highest point total with 81." and I was in shock...I had to run up and wake my dad and tell him.

Crazy.

I have to give Kobe his props...To one hell of a performance.

Holy crappers.. I usually watch or scan thru the games tonight but I saw Lakers vs Raptors and others and yawned.. then hours later I check the boxscores and can't believe my eyes. I hate Kobe like no other, but a show is a show. It didn't take long after that 62 pt game for him to redeem himself--how crazy does that sound--and actually satisfy the NBA nation by playing all the way til the end on this one, but it was warranted. Congrats to all his fantasy owners tonight lol.

yeah, yeah, but come on. In that situation, NBA teams win what, 1 in 400? And Brad Miller hitting that three?

Let's put it this way. If that wasn't the stars aligning, I don't know what is.

Or AI will get jealous and go off on us for 82 points :) :(

Pleaze. Lamar Odom being an Eeeediot (as Ren Hoak would say) is what won that game for Sacto. He runs the clock down like any non-idiot, non-Clipper draftee does 999 out of 1000 times and they're up 4 w/ 8 secs even if they don't get a shot off. You don't see that type of move even if the guy is TRYING to point shave. He pulled a Leon Lett.

That's not to say you don't match up well with LA, but that win was a gift. Please do something like that next time you play the Lakers.

Someone at LT pointed out that this was Kobe's 666th game. Now we know who to blame!

Explains alot about Kobe doesn't it!:p

When I first saw that he scored 81 on MSN.com I thought I was seeing things... Im still in awe.

Wowza!

Insane, what a season he is having.

But you have to feel bad for him with such a crappy team around him, i doubt Jordan could win as much with Kobes current team....
