So there you have it! 1st annual kingsfans multi-person mock draft... With the exception of probably Brook Lopez, and Westbrook the picks are probably about right.. I am curious how close we all get. We all addressed team needs with best players available imo, and did a hell of a job!

I am going to post this on my web page after the draft in a blog if it's cool :)

Thanks everyone!

yeah this sounds like a fun way to pass the time before the draft. the only question i have is that you mentioned that we would pick based on team need. im hoping that isnt a rule set in stone since at times teams just pick based on best player available instead of need. (ie chicago already has point guards in hinrich and duhon but no way they pass up on rose) whatever the case this sounds like an interesting idea

Yah I will.. I will give it until Monday to get a few/couple more people. We can start Monday afternoon... All of the names/teams will be drawn from a hat. I will keep the teams with no first rounder out.

I have been a member here for a while and don't usually post.....I would love to do something like this! :D

Ahh excellent! We will all get a couple teams, with maybe 1 or two of us getting a 3rd team. I will put the names into the hat tonight, and post up the GMs for each team tomorrow.

steelevt, You can pick whoever you want.. You are not bound by any rules! :) Unless you take DeAndre Jordan at #1 lol :)

OK... Here is the order.. With the first pick..... Drawing the names from a hat :D Instead of each of us getting a specific team I thought it would be fun since we had 10 people to just draw names 1-10, then 10-20 and so on. We will do the first round, and if after the first round is over someone wants to do the second then I can set it up.

1. Chicago - steelevt (hah!)
2. Miami - nbrans
3. Minnesota - Capt. Factorial
4. Seattle - Henkel
5. Memphis - HighFlyingMonkey
6. New York - Purple Reign
7. LA Clippers - bajaden
8. Milwaukee - Gary
9. Charlotte - Amory
10. New Jersey - Vlade4GM

(Put all the names back in the hat)

11. Indiana - bajaden
12. Sacramento - Capt. Factorial
13. Portland - HighFlyingMonkey
14. Golden State - Gary
15. Phoenix - nbrans
16. Philidelphia - Vlade4GM
17. Toronto - Amory
18. Washington - steelevt
19. Cleveland - Purple Reign
20. Denver - Henkel

(Put all the names back in the hat)

21. New Jersey - Vlade4GM
22. Orlando - nbrans
23. Utah - bajaden
24. Seattle - HighFlyingMonkey
25. Houston - Amory
26. San Antonio - Capt. Factorial
27. New Orleans - Gary
28. Memphis - steelevt
29. Detroit - Purple Reign
30. Boston - Henkel

steelevt - You are on the clock! I will adjust the first post so it's easier to see who picked what.

Oh by the way.. Let me know if you guys actually jsut wanted a couple teams rather then picking random.. Like if you wanted Seattle, and Miami or something... Reason I just did the random every 10 picks is because I didn't want someone to get stuck with a couple teams that were drafting late in the first round. I wanted each person to get a 1-10, 11-20, and 21-30 pick.

Oh, fantastic. I get to be the one making the decision that's going to upset 75% of the people on the board! ;)

Well, to expedite things in case I'm not around, #2 is a piece of cake. If steelevt picks Rose, I'll pick Beasley. If he picks Beasley I'll pick Rose. This one's a no-brainer. Top 2 talents, even if there's a trade they're almost positively going to be the top 2.

Let me help with the announcements!

Stern steps to the podium:

(Incessant booing at MSG)

And with the __ pick , the __________ select at _____ from _________ , ________ ___________!!!

(more incessant booing from MSG)

I won't be have the internet available to me until later tonight so for the sake of moving this thing along feel free to have someone picks for me at #4 or possible swap me with a later pick.

Hrm... I might have to take steelevt out of the mix..

Henkel, it's cool.. As long as you will have the internet available for the next 3 days. If you are able to draft tonight then it's OK.. With the draft fast approaching I kind of wanted to have the people that were doing it available to make their picks. Doesn't look like steelevt is even around (logged in, got my PM then logged out w/o making a pick). I will give his #1 pick to Vlade4GM (as drawn from the hat)

So Vlade4GM.. you have the #1 pick. I will keep the other picks the same and if someone is taking more than 5-7 hours to pick then I will pull a name and give it to that person. .

With the first pick in the 2008 NBA draft, the Chicago Bulls select...Derrick Rose out of the University of Memphis.

A direction that seems almost certain the bulls are going in based on the pre-draft buzz. While they could use the high/low post scoring of Michael Beasley at the 4 spot just as much as they could a true facilitating PG like Rose, they take Rose because he has a clean character profile, much better leader than Beasley, and because his position is much harder to come by in the NBA than a scoring forward. This way they can shop Hinrich for a proven post scorer or maybe a SG if they can't re-sign Gordon. I think they'll definitely get Deng re-signed; Gordon may be a different issue since he's probably asking a lot more than he is really worth, but they may be more willing to pay it now that they have a potential franchise player to tie this team together and make them contenders for a long time. Still, a lot depends on how their young bigs like Noah, Thomas, and Gray develop.

With the second pick in the 2008 NBA draft, the Miami Heat select... Dick Bavetta, from the Kentucky Glue Factory.

But really, this one's a no brainer: Beasley. Not sure how he'll mesh with Wade and Marion, but he's just way too talented for the Heat to pass up. Also possible there's a trade, but it would be really stunning if Beasley didn't go #2 here.

With the third pick in the 2008 NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select O.J. Mayo from the University of Southern California.

Really, this team is a mess. They've got Al Jefferson, Randy Foye, and then it kind of goes downhill. Their second best big man currently under contract is Mark Madsen - not good. Their 2/3 is filled with Marko Jaric and Corey Brewer and Greg Buckner. Rashad McCants can back up Foye, so point guard seems their most solid position. Why Mayo? First, there's the hope that they can swing Mayo to Miami for Beasley. Since they don't have much in the way of trade assets (aside from future picks that they'll probably want to keep), that's not too likely. But they have the #31 and #34 picks in this draft, so they can try to grab two guys not on guaranteed contracts in the early second. With this draft looking pretty deep talent-wise, they might get some pieces there - but there are more big men and tweeners than guards available late. Besides, a Foye/Mayo backcourt would be the best young backcourt in the game, and in a couple of years could be the best backcourt period. Mayo is the best available, so they take him and won't worry about picking up the next big piece until next year's lotto pick.

Henkel said he wasn't going to be able to make his first pick (up now) earlier in the thread. Gary, do you think GeraldWallace#3 should take that one over?

Sure! Go ahead Wallace!

If for some reason steelevt doesn't come into the fold you can take over his picks in the 11-20/20-30 range as well.

hey guys, im really sorry about not being able to post in time. i was at work and can log on through my phone and read the posts but for some reason i cant post anything. i really appreciate gary going through all the hassle only to have me slow things down...sorry. oh well i guess there went my chance of picking joe alexander as the #1 pick cuz i like his athleticism and cuz i wanted to mix it up. jk i woulda picked Rose too so everything is going as planned. sorry again...now time to research my teams a bit :D

No problem. I think we will finish in time. I should have given ya'll more time, but I did want to wait until the players declared (june 16th?) and for the hoops report site to decide if we were going to do it or not.
