Kings workouts

I believe that Augustin is supposed to work out today along with former Iowa State guard, Mike Taylor. Taylor was ISU's leading scorer, but I had to ask one of my friends, who graduated from Iowa State, why he left the team. Evidently he was kicked off of the team for stealing stuff. He was a streaky shooter and had average ball handling skills. I guess he did impress in the D League and at the predraft camp in Orlando though.

It is interesting. I wonder if Petrie is thinking about trading down?

Since we haven't worked out many lottery guys, Petrie might be targeting maybe 2-4 players in our draft range and if they are gone then plan on trying to trade down into the next tier of guys (hopefully unloading a bad contract or getting a prospect in the process). So far I think the list of guys projected around our range we have worked out is only Augustin and Alexander.

Or maybe getting a late pick in a draft day trade that sends away a vet?

This could be a HUGE offseason for rebuilding.

Or maybe I'm just optimistic haha

This is pretty par for the course so far. Every year Petrie really likes to look at guys that will go lower than out pick.

He actually has been quoted as saying that the Wallace case was the only time he had done it, and he said it was a huge mistake and he never would do it again.

Basically, you can assume that if we don't work a guy out, we aren't going to be drafting him.

If Wallace was a huge mistake then I'd hope he makes a lot more of those mistakes.

Cool!

Because you know what I was thinking was what this team REALLY needs is another 6'5" to 6'7" inch swingman. Put us right over the top baby!

It is underwhelming isn't it?!

We have worked out some talls but none are projected as lottery picks. The only 2 lottery picks we have worked out are Augustin and Alexander. Why can't we work out some big guys like Speights or someone like that.

Only combo guards and swingmen :(

Maybe GP already knows who they will pick at #12

Maybe GP is really looking for 2nd rounders or summer league candidates. He never does tip his hand and we never get used to that.

Or maybe something else is up, that would facilitate the drafting of a SG/SF... You're right. I think it's best not to get too worked up over who's coming in to work out. We have no clue what GP is thinking, and I'm pretty sure we may not have a clue even after the draft.

Conspiracy theories abound!

I really don't like Green, he is a chucker and a volume shooter without the skill to get away with being a volume shooter at the NBA level. If people complain about Martin being one dimensional then they will really be in a for a treat if we take Green.

I disagree with you on that one. He is most certainly a chucker, or at least he was at Syracuse, but lack of skill isn't the problem. He's a pretty good rebounder and shot blocker too and he hasn't got the handle to beat people to the basket yet, but if he works on that he's already an elite athlete with excellent finishing ability. I don't think he'll be a one-dimensional player in the NBA but he will have to work on his shot selection first and foremost.

He is going to have to get taught some toughness for him to have a chance to succeed. Even though he may be athletic and a good finisher he is scared of contact and hardly ever bothers to use any of those skills as he would much rather just shoot the ball from range instead of go to the rim and risk getting contact.

If it was open to the media today. where is the news on how it went?

That's what I'm wondering as well. My best guess would be that they are saving it for the paper tomorrow. Still though, the Bee couldn't have been the only media outlet present, so you'd think there would be some reports out there from other sources.

Interesting video. Alexander really seems like he wants to play for us. Also Westbrook thinks he'll play a lot of PG. P.S. Batum was also interviewed

Yeah they all seemed to like the KIngs a lot(I thought Lawson was real positive about the prospect of playing for us anyway, Alexander seemed to know his stuff about the team also).

To be honest I like all of them. It seems like Geoff put together a really good group of players for that 1 workout.
