What is Ron Artest thinking?

He's killing us offensively. He simply killed any chance of coming back.

0-1.. it's ok. not the end of the world.

shame that we had SO MANY opportunities. we really should have won this one. :(

Oh well....... A total lack of poise really killed us in the 4th quarter. That one on one, turnover after turnover stuff has got to go.

Looked like a bunch of scared rabbits out there for the last quarter.

we have so many stupid turnovers that it is mind boggling. Off Kmarts leg, reef steps out of bounds, i mean come on, pros arent supposed to have like 10 turnovers out of 13 possessions.

In their defense, Martin had the ball slapped and SAR was in a bas situation because of a terrible pass from Artest. Can't blame SAR on the out of bounds call.

Kevin Martin is the only one who deserves passing grade tonight despite 5 TOs

This was a winnnable game against a horrible team

4 things

1.Kings choked in the fourth... Plain and simple... MAJOR choke job...
2.You have Shareef who was playing somewhat coherent out on the court, and then you have... Kenny Thomas... Fourth quarter comes, Brad comes in and who does he leave on the court? Kenny... Thomas... In place of Shareef... Good move
3.Wouldn't it just be awesome if Thomas was suspended for like... ever?
4.I like Davids Sterns new rule. Just toss everyone... Hell, he should implement tossing mascots if they shake their finger at the refs... Those refs are sensitive you know? Love it Stern... Love it...

I'm sorry but that looks like bad coaching.

Team falling apart. No timeouts. No direction. Running no offense. Just one-on-one straight jacking.

The loss of composure really makes me wonder about Muss. It's too early to make a judgement but from what I saw tonight ... scary.

fine, but what about the other 3000 turnovers or so like bad passes from everyone or just dribbling into 4 wolves players and getting the ball stripped. We should have won this. What an ugly game, i want to erase it from my memory as soon as possible...

I made this topic on 02/06/2005 about the Kings always having a tough time beating the Wolves (along with the Warriors and Blazers). So usually whenever we lose to these teams, I don't get upset because I'm not really expecting them to win. However, these teams are very bad and they are the Kings game to lose.

agreed. He really needed to take a TO and calm everyone down.

chandler got tossed.. i thought he was a nice guy...:D ....i wanted to win tonight, go kings, i think were gonna get three staright and go from there, hopefully no suspension for mike, it looked like he was trying to yell towards the court when he was walking through the tunnel

Yeah, we should all burn our tickets and jerseys. This team just sucks. After all, everyone knows it's the first game that really determines an entire season.

...

I agree. Bad coaching not to call timeout early in the 4th.

If anyone has tickets to burn, I'll take them. I know it is a sacrifice, but one I am will to take.

Oh, I agree completely.

I just wouldn't take it out on SAR at all and I'd pretty much avoid Martin. Much easier targets.

SAR's TOs weren't all that bad. He had the weird offensive foul that left me scratching my head. He had the weird pass to Salmons that Salmons let go (smart pass though). He had the TO from Artest that left him twisted and stepping out of bounds. Don't remember the 4th. But, I'll let his 4 slide.

Martin had 2 that were really dumb, but I can live with 2 dumb TOs.

The rest of the team.... BLAH!

All I have to say:

18TOs to 13AST

Good numbers.

It wasn't just early in the 4th quarter...More like the entire quarter.

Well, some timeouts came naturally later in the 4th -- like when Miller called timeout to avoid stepping out of bounds. Sadly the meltdown continued, but by then the team was in panic mode.

So let me get this right...

Some of you expected perfection the first game out?

What about how good the Kings looked on defense? Does that count for anything?

Reality check: We're not a top contender right now. We're a team trying to find a new identity. We're gonna make mistakes. The ones I saw tonight were primarily because of a lack of time on the court together. They can be fixed. Some of you need to stock up on tranquilizers if you're going to get this upset this early in the season.

i dont care we lost to the bulls that won 72 games, ill always be upset when the team loses...but yes tranqs do sound like a good idea

I clarified in that statment by saying that it takes more than this to make me lose faith, but I don't like what I'm seeing out of our offense.

We're a perimeter team without any real perimeter players, the exception being Bibby. Artest goes through spurts and Martin is more of a slasher/mid-range guy.

I said it through the pre-season too. I don't like the style of offense we run and the fact that as the game got uglier the more unsettled and more chaotic we became. The worse the game got, the more tragically bad our play became and the more iso-oriented we were.

That's not good.

This team isn't good enough to win on junk jumpshots. We need to utilize Artest in the post and quit letting him create his own shots. We need to quit pampering people's egos that have been here a long time and throw SAR in the paint and give him 14 shots every game and if he doesn't take at least 14 shots he's slapped in the head.

From there we can generate more offense because teams can not, and I repeat, can not beat SAR or Artest one on one in the post.

Some of the mistakes had nothing to do with how little they were on the court together. Their defense was good and if their offense was as good, it would have been a blowout. I never expect perfection, its not possible, but even you can't deny the meltdown in the 4th. Its was ours to lose and we did.

I didn't expect perfection. I don't even mind the loss. It's how the team looked that bothered me. It's the complete loss of concentration or faith in each other.

Basketball is a team game and it looked like the majority of the players forgot that.

As for how we looked on defense - I was not impressed. Artest looked nice, but the team looked bad. Open lanes and poor switching. The Wolves shot almost 50% and without Artest's steals ... we wouldn't have been in the game.

No need to jump overboard just yet, but a few issues need to be hammered out.

1. Kenny Thomas has GOT to calm down. He played horribly today and forced many things. When Artest tried to talk to him, he just threw his hand off and walked away. Cancer?

2. Brad Miller must make his shots. The second the opposition realized that he wasn't making them, the lane became very crowded.

3. Kevin Martin must relax. He had too many TOs. He also forced a few shots when a bit of patience and some more setup would have done it.

And lastly and most importantly, 4. Artest must stop jacking up ill-advised three pointers. This game proved it very clearly; he is best when he is going to the basket. He can't shoot those shots at a very high percentage. He was what, 6/22 tonight?

Kings looked pretty bad tonight, but I'm not particularly disappointed.

It's the curse of Minny. No matter how well the Kings may be doing, they will lose in Minny. So if they had a dreadful game to get out of their system, there's no better place to do it.

3. Kevin Martin must relax. He had too many TOs. He also forced a few shots when a bit of patience and some more setup would have done it.

Even with Kevin forcing it he was still 9-15 for 23 points. I think he was forcing because the team was not getting him the ball in places he could score. They went away from him the entire 4th Quarter and they paid the price.
