No expectations.
My expectations have never been high in the first place. I mean we did not win it in 2002 and 2003 and after that You just have to stop expecting too much. Better for Your health

In '02, I didn't know what to expect. I just could stop from saying/thinking "Oh my gosh, I can't believe this"...realizing we can win...then depression. In '03 I was convinced and just about ready to bet everything I owned that we would win...then heartbreak. Last year is was like, ok we are a very very talented team...we should come close and then from then who knows. This year, well I think its already been documented over the past few days.

I don't expect us to fall off the map. I just expect us to be a nice little team thats good, not great.

well, being vulnerable sucks so one has to build some kind of wall to protect him/herself. We will be great again and soon. I truly believe so. A team that has Mike, Brad and Pedja just needs a good mix. You add Bobby, Cat, Darius and whatever comes this summer and we will be right there. Only thing that is really killing us are injuries. That has to stop someday. It just has to

Yeah, well we can only hope. :)

Just one more thing on this season, becasue I don't want people to think I've just given up on them: I still enjoy watching the Kings play and root for them because they are "my" team. Though, I must be truthful here and say it has been odd/difficult to root for the new guys the same way I do for Mike, Brad etc... Except for Corliss because he's already been here before. I guess it will just take a little time. TDOS, as if is affectionally called here will be interesting though.

Well, It was very hard to root for Mike after JWill but I would do that deal over and over and over again

I'm getting there, but it's been hard for me as well. I've never had trouble rooting for the newer players before, but I guess the fact that this trade still hurts me is making it harder to step up & give these guys 100%. Team will heal this, though. right???:(

Umm.....Sort of. I loved Jason, but it wasn't too long that we learned the trade was for the best. And its really hard to compare the two trades.

EXTREMELY hard. JWill was fun to watch, but he wasn't half the player Webb is, on or of the court.

Sure hope so. I mean its not like we are rooting against them. You put on a Kings uni and its just about instant support. Its just the trade was hard to accept, putting an era to rest was hard to accept, seeing a guy you really like get traded was really hard to accept...Time is the only thing that can heal this...ok well time and a blockbuster trade in the summmer to bring in a superstar ;)

Depends on the preferance. You liked Webber as much as I liked Williams. While I respect all the accomplishments that Webber did as a player and person in Sacramento - the change was due and he was the one that endeu up leaving. Life goes on and time heals all wounds to a point. We have to go forward - we can not go back.

Wow, never took you as a Williams guy. Not to keep on a subject that in the grand scheme of things means very little but, Bibby coming in made an almost instant impact. You could see right away that we would be ok. Ceratinly never as fun or flashy, but we would be ok if not better. With this trade, there was/hasn't been that. Then again, it might just all be up to one's perception.

I loved "fun and flashy." First year is alwasy the hardest. To start turning the loser franchise around was the hard part. Upgrading it was easier. BTW nobody else played such style of BB since then (props to Vlade and Webber).

Yes! That's great! :D

Hmm...I think this put Spurs back to #1? I'm with piksi, I wouldn't mind seeing a Wolves-Spurs first round. But I also don't want to Wolves to be in the playoffs.

5/6 today. Great day for Kings. Only wolves won but then again I would not teribbly mind them to be 8th and play Spurs in the first round
It really was. I am particularly impressed with our win though. Washington on a back-to-back is a very solid win.

The didn't exactly get that SI cover " Greatest show on earth" for nothing...and that wasn't even the first year, it was after we got DC!

Ahh....the memories. :D I would pay good money to see those guys play again..of course they would be slower, but they were...::shakes head:: man, something special to say the least.

Im with you there that first year with Vlade, Webber and J Will was... well pure excitment, even the losses were fun! Probably beceause we had no expectations and all of them seemed to have endless potential. HeckI can't help but smile jsut remembering some of those games!

I would rather see the Timberwolves over the Spurs any day in the playoffs. We have beaten the T-Wolves and the Spurs but the Wolves are having a bad year so I would rather face them.

Me too! I miss those times too! :(

A few weeks ago, I was telling my brother that I wish the Kings were just playing fun basketball like JWill time that period. I really miss it...no worries, expectations not high and all fans just enjoyed it !

nobody can take the memories (good and bad) away (or the tapes). They will last forever. But I am also looking forward to getting new memories with the new team - not to replace the old ones because that is impossible but to have some more of that "good stuff" because it is the best part of being a fan.
Mike, DC, Pedja CW, Vlade and co have risen the bar high in many ways. We have to believe that this team or the next will be able to do better. Or we can just stop being a fan.

Double edged sword... we also knew they were not going anywhere THAT YEAR. Now we are spoiled, we dont worry about making the paly offs jsut how far we will go and IF we canwin a championship. Maybe this is the silver lining to the trade, now no one expects much out of the team and 3 decent palyers are free to paly Kings ball instead of force feeding a prima dona... so far looks like fun to me!

I've got to be honest once again here and say piksi, you have done a 180 with me. My perception/thoughts of you have changed dramatically...in a really good way. I never disliked you in any way, but you weren't exactly my favorite poster either (no offense) ;). Now, I respect you opinion a whole bunch more and find myself agree with you more and more. Good stuff :)

When Vlade left and Doug and now Webber You realize how much they deserved to win a title together with rest of the guys. You also realize that their time just passed or is passing as a players. If we manage to win it this year, next year any year - thay will still be a part of it. They might not get a ring but they will be a part of it. I just hope that we get fortunate while at least one guy is left ( Mike, Pedja or Brad) and win the ring because if one of them gets it it would feel like all of them have a tie and are part of it.

damn

this is the most sensible post i have ever witnessed from you. ;)

i rarely agree with you...but this is really good stuff, man. doesnt make it any easier to let go of those memories past, but you make a very good point about what it means to be a kings fan. much respect for a great post. :)
