As great as this win was...what im more happy about is that i think we are learning something. Yes, we were embarrassed against orlando but you know what, our offense was there and that has been one of our problems. Our last 4 games our offense has shown up to play. Even thoe we were embarrassed against Orlando, but our offense was consistent. We made big plays against the heat and the mavs, and now tonight against the Warriors we made about 5-6...thats all i can ask for. Its definitely a big improvement considering we couldn't make anything if our lives depended on it earlier in the year.

here is a clue fo You

Last night - we played a 30-8 team

Tonight we played 11-29 team without their best 2 players

Over Brad Miller, John Salmons and Francisco Garcia?

You and I could have looked like Dennis Rodman.

You are aware, are you not, that Miller had 22rebs in this game and Salmons had 14? Kid has gotten after the glass all year -- per minute he grabs more than Jason does (I do not exaggerate -- per minute he grabs 15.4reb/48 Jason is at 13.0).

Not sure this first part reinforces the argument given the context of this game, but yeah, the second one isn't bad. He can rebound. Just not sure the other parts of his game makes up for it.

Believe me, i know. I never said we are gonna win 30 in a row. What im saying is that in the beginning of the year it didn't matter how crap our opponents were and how much they would try to give us games, we would just suck worse and never even give ourselves a chance. These last few games, aside from Orlando, we've had chances, and so far we've taken advantage of them in two of those games. Thats all i can ask for with this team.

So, what the hell happened to Thompson? What was the justification for playing midget ball? And why exactly didn't he come back in triple OT after Randolph returned? He abused Randolph in the first quarter. And yes, I realize we won, but what does that do for Jason's confidence? Natt: "I don't care how well you play early on, at the end of the game, you're gonna sit otherwise you'll screw it up." If JT isn't physically injured, Natt is mentally handicapped.

Justification ??? There is no such thing. We don't even have a coach.

May I recommend that it's really "Kenny Nothing."

Clearly, better than "Kenny Something" or the absurd "Muss Jr." Seems there's a lot of buyers remorse going on over what we've got now in our Petire/Maloof produced "different voice."

I haven't watched this but why Spence played only 16 minutes????
lol and how the heck Brad got soo many rebounds?! and a game winner by Salmons?! insane

funny game thread last night guys and gals ..

on a serious note though, Brad Miller was a beast last night. Aside from all the high / old man jokes he played a huge amount of minutes and he is an older dude, I can imagine that it wasnt easy for him.. its not his fault he played so many minutes and kind of lost his affectivness towards the end of the OT's but he kept fighting and playing hard .. The T was stupid, ( So was Bobby's , dont forget that ! ) but this time I think he had a little case, they stopped calling fouls for him ( I thought there were a few no calls on him in the OT ) .. anyways, I just wanted to give cradit were I thought credit was due last night ..

Anyone else agree with me that Reggie should have never been fired? I was trying to tell the reggie haters that we couldnt bring in anyone else that was better than him mid season .. you want to fire him after the year was over, fine, but the midseason firing was stupid. Natt did so many stupid things last night to lose the game it was getting rediculous, It wasnt even a exciting win for me really, I just kind of laughed it off .. two teams in triple OT playing until one of them loses it rather than someone winning it. I applaud the effort and all but Natt just really made the game alot harder than it had to be.

Quick note - I seriously dont think Cisco touched the ball in the last 2 overtimes .. I might watch it on DVR just to make sure, but Im almost positive he didnt and im wondering why .. he was clutch all game driving to the bucket when we neeeded it and hitting those corner 3's ..

I never thought Reggie Theus was Muss Jr for a split second - and neither did any of the Kings players. He was dealt a horrible hand with all the injuries, suspensions, and turmoil. In his first year as a rookie NBA coach he was seriously being talked about as a coach of the year candidate by the likes of Stan Van Gundy and Phil Jackson who praised him. Those coaches admired him greatly, saw his potential and what he had to work with. Rick Patino as his mentor at Louisville liked him very much and saw his potential to be a solid head coach at any level.

Ultimately, I don't know why Reg was fired. I think Maloof's panicked like they often do. Same with dumping Adelman. A panic move with no real plan, who they apparently saw as an old fart and not outgoing for their taste. The hiring of Musselman. A meddling, not well thought out process. Making a commercial bragging about their billionaire champagne and caviar life-style while slurping down a "6 dollar burger" - just plain stupid! I think they made up their pee brains that they weren't going to pick up 3rd year option on Reggie and just decided to move on it early. It was yet another bozo goof and pissed off even more kings fans than they'd already alienated. I'm not sure why or if GP was enthusiastic for it as he seemed almost comatose in announcing the firing. But, we all know he's like that with his low-key, subdued personality. Memo to Geoff: The Maloof's feed off of tons of glitz and glamor around them, not retiring, boring types. You better hope they don't start seeing you as another old hat. Probably you and Coachie can continue to stay immune since both of you operate well in the background.

In the end, maybe Reggie was fired because MaGoof's were jealous of him stealing too much of their lime light or at least not toeing company line on some level - like excepting Coachie back? Obviously Theus is tall, dark and handsome and Joe and Gavin absolutely are not. He's dashing, articulate, media darling, looking young, smiling, outgoing, manly, ladies man, big game hunter, his own highly independent self. Some of that might have been a threat to a MaGoof control freak empire - I don't know. The only other thing I heard was his firing was result of too much reliance on Chuck Person. Reggie poo-pooed that by saying he gave all his assistant coaches plenty to do and his ear at all times. There must have been something else behind it, but I don't know exactly what it was. Maybe we'll never know. Meanwhile, the 11,000 or so at Arco each night can stare at new head coach Kenny Nothing with his look of having permanent case of hemorrhoid attack and wonder WHY THIS?!?!

Clearly Nellie should have played Kurz some more. Maybe he decided that he would need this loss for tiebreaker purposes...

was and still am indifferent to the firing. i don't think he would've brought any long-term positive effects to the group (and neither will Natt), so...more losses from Natt and a better draft position seems like a fine consolation prize.

Without low post scoring ability in Thompson or Hawes, Natt had to bend his lineup to Nellie's. It's that simple.

Really funny thread to read. :D

I'm not at all sorry Reggie's gone and I did not expect Natt to do any better. Natt is just a placeholder.

True, but it would be nice if the placeholder didn't completley abandon playing our talented youngsters just to win a couple of extra games.

I'm with you on that. I, too, am mystified as to why Jason didn't get to play more. If the intent was to ensure a loss, then Natt did fail. ;)

I don't agree with you that Theus shouldn't have been fired. I firmly believe there were a lot of factors involved that the organization didn't make public and, if you look back, you'll see that I was one of those who strongly supported Theus in the beginning... Bottom line is there was a clash of egos that simply was not going to be resolved and if your ego as the head coach is in conflict with the egos of the owners, somebody's gonna be out of a job sooner or later.

Just a small but I think significant comment, if I might? I think the use of the term "Magoof" is disrespectful and more than a little childish, along with being terminally trite. It was done, it was overdone and now it just looks silly... As far as your description of Reggie Theus goes, I find it pretty interesting that you don't include anything that remotely resembles the qualities we really need in a head coach. And that was the whole problem. It was all about Reggie, the man, the myth and the legend. It should have been about the team but was too often about what Reggie wanted or what Reggie needed or what Reggie thought, etc. I wish Reggie all the luck in the world in his future endeavors but I'm incredibly glad he's gone. It needs to be about the team and the future not about Reggie and his massive ego.

Kenny Natt isn't our new head coach at this point, and possibly ever. He's a babysitter right now, nothing more. I think he's doing the best he can under the circumstances. Again, our team is not very good so expecting Natt to work miracles is jsut outside the confines of reality IMHO.

It's just my opinion, but I'd trade Reggie Theus for Pete Carril any day of the week - and we just did if you disregard the titles involved. Where we go from here is what will make the difference.
