Houston's also at .600, tied for 8th, so even if we beat GS, it wouldn't have mattered much.

Updated stat trends:

to get the #8 playoff spot, we need to go 28-5 from here on out (.848)
to get the #5 draft pick, 3-30 (.091)

Neither is going to happen.

Indeed...we're right on track of where I thought we'd be...on pace for 36-39 wins, which shows improvement from last year, but isnt good enough for anything but like the 13th draft slot.

Hopefully Petrie realizes this this season. I bet this is the year Bibby gets traded

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to put some emphasis on part of your post:

So, est.1999, I wouldn't be making plans to attend the playoffs quite yet.

we won't even go 17-16

I'm not gonna go out on a limb and say its gonna be easy cause it won't but to say its gonna take a 51-31 record just to get the 8th seed is ludracous thinking

Both the Warriors and the Rockets are at .600 now, and would win all possible tiebreakers with us. .600 X 82 = 49.2, so we have to expect it to take at least 50.

Over the last few weeks, people have said "oh, come on, those teams can't possibly keep up that pace, they're gonna stumble any time now." But, in fact, they have improved their position since then. It was only looking like 45-48 then.

So disbelieve it if you like, but we're getting farther away all the time.

You just haven't been paying attention to the West this year. Its not as if there is just one team threatening to win 50 as a #8 seed. Its as if there are 7 teams on pace to win 50, two more on pace to win 49 (including the Rockets who are on a tear and the Warriors), and the Blazers now falling off the pace looking to be about the best #10 seed in the history of basektball.

Oh, and just as another aside, we get our last batch of East weenies in the next few weeks and then our entire final two months is spent playing the same West with all those power teams. You can go ahead and schedule that April trip to Hawaii any time you want to now.

I've heard all the back in forth about win too many only drop lower in the draft, or just tank and get a better draft pick. I'm just happy with a much better and more fun Kings product this year after last years boring debacle. The Kings can only get back to the playoffs soon a couple of ways it seems. Get stronger with draft picks they'll have no matter where they are on the board. Make trades to get the right free agents, unload some horribly expensive baggage, improve cap room, etc. - keeping their nucleus of good young players, Martin, Beno, Salmons for sure, and probably Garcia, Hawes, Douby. No magical instant solutions, just hopeful steps, and IN REGGIE WE TRUST! GO KINGS!!

Kevin does indeed benefit when the game is filled with B.S. touch and breathing fouls that have no place in a contact sport, but the Jazz game was rough as can be and he was just fine. Does not track. The Warriors are hardly ferocious physical beasts. They are quick however, and quick bothers Kevin much more than power.

The Warrior are very physical. The were tackling guys, going over the back, ploughing into guys, slapping, undercutting (Ellis on Martin) all night long. If the game is called like a rugby match, then there's no doubt that Martin's game will suffer. If it's basketball, then he'll do great.
