Kings waive Antoine Wright

I like this move. Its addition by subtraction, thank you GP for limiting Westphal's options to screw with the rotation. There was ABSOLUTELY no reason for wright to ever be on the floor with the guys we have right now.

Maybe Westphal insisted.

Eh, A deal might be on the way. No real reason to waive him unless you have something else in mind.

I think in these circumstances a player typically doesn't get waived until the deal goes down. It doesn't appear (at least at ShamSports) that his contract was unguaranteed, so we're not saving any money by it. It's a bit curious. Especially considering that Whiteside is going to the D-League, as we'll have only 12 guys to pull from total. If somebody gets hurt, we're down a man...not that you need 12 in the rotation, just saying.

Also, most moves that I've envisioned involve us dropping a few small contracts to pick up a bigger one. That sort of a deal wouldn't be helped by us dropping a small contract, either in terms of cap matching ability or in terms of roster size - we can no longer do a three-for-one, for instance.

Curious. Not that I'm going to miss Wright. Just curious.

Long overdue! Signing him in the first place was a mistake. By waiving Wright, we have given Westphal less options to fulfill his fettish of playing scrubs over players with talent.

Means Gracia is coming back and not nobody will be in street clothes as now pooh can dress. I wish Hassan was getting some time. I guess the d-league is as good of place as any. Maybe we got a deal coming where we trade 1 for 2.

Wright had a guaranteed $992,000 contract. Pretty good pay for his meager contributions (indeed, negative contribution to the organization's image with the DUI).

This opens the door for the fearsome Pooh/Head backcourt

I know he was guaranteed for almost a mil$$, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were some kind of stipulation regarding a criminal conviction. Essentially saying if you get busted for guns, drugs, dui-ing, assault, etc... we don't have to pay you due to the image problem you created for our franchise. Just sayin I wouldn't be surprised it that was in the fine print.

I got a feeling something big is about to happen. Something that will surprise a lot of us (including me).

My guess is that he was worthless player that was nothing more than a distraction. The DUI pretty much sealed his fate...that and his .125 FG %. LOL.

Possibly DUI related, but a few other things occur as well. Wright spoke out last year from the Toronto bench, he's actually, beleive it or not, over his career been used to getting many more minutes than he did here, including even starting for long stretches, and so its possible he was unhappy with his role and asked for a release, or just unhappy in general and becoming a cancer and so we booted him. And there is always Grant's report, to be taken with a grain of salt of course, that some "veteran players" were unhappy with DeMarcus's banner outside. Except when you start tallying up our vets there are relatively few candidates who personalitywise would complain about that. Wright was one of those who might.

I was wondering when this would happen...I was actually suprised he got to play after his incident.
