I think there might be too much pressure on Keegan to be our 3rd guy. He’s a streaky shooter too. A lot of power in his shot which causes lots of rim outs. As an on-ball scorer, he’s not doing much. 4TOs was bad. He’s not our main problem tonight, but his inconsistent scoring killed us throughout the game when we needed a bucket.

Huerter has to go. I called it last season… we need someone better. He’s lost all confidence from 3pt and is one of the worst defenders in the league and I don’t think it’s being dramatic.

Time is ticking on Davion. He was unplayable tonight like Kevin. Cost us on both ends by being too lax on offense, but too over-aggressive on defense.

Mike Brown coached a poor game. Why did he play Huerter on Curry in the 1st? Fox was on the bench when Curry went nuclear on us and it went into a double digit deficit. Why did Brown wait so long to put him in? 3 fouls is a lame excuse. He didn’t play Sasha enough minutes. Our offense went into a huge drought and he only played 12mins? The lack of challenge at the end was awful.

Defense as a whole was dreadful.

as for Sabonis the Warriors didn’t respect his outside shot and dropped off him while overplaying our wings. It’s a scheme we are going to see over and over unless Sabonis can make teams respect his shooting. It’s the point Kevin OConnor and others have made repeatedly in the off season.

Davion has to be better on offense because we desperately need his defense on Curry. Fox can’t do it all.

Time to revist my "Malik Monk is actually just Zach Lavine/Brad Beal in disguise" idea from last off-season. His ability to be a playmaker from the 2 spot, put pressure on the defense with him attacking the rim and being able to space it out off of Domas/Fox if it calls for it IS what that 3rd guy in this offense should be. And it lets Keegan continue to grow naturally into a 20 PPG scorer, rather than just force it on him if he's not ready.

I don't know about this take.. I feel like his defense is just too awful to be starting. He's like a short Kevin, but at least Kevin tries. Monk doesn't put enough effort on that end imo. In today's league where you have jumbo PGs, having two 6'3 185lb guards in your backcourt is a recipe for disaster when you've got no plus defenders in the lineup nor any type of rim protection.

Monk is a very erratic player. I don't think I'm ready for 30mins of Monk lol

It's a wake-up call to Monte and Brown. Something has to change. This wasn't some fluke due to the poor shooting of three players. The Kings got punked on their home floor and I'd rather for the two aforementioned be slapped in the face with it at the beginning of the season than have some epiphany at mid-season.

At this point, I really don't know why anyone expects Sabonis to be a 3pt shooter. It's his 8th year in the league and he has NEVER hit that shot with any type of consistency nor good percentage. People need to just accept that he's a non-shooter. When we decided to pair Fox and Sabonis, we knew that this would be the tradeoff. I know Fox made 5/9 3s, but both players will always be liabilities from 3pt and teams will give them those shots all day long.

Fox can't really do it all, but he only played heavy minutes tonight because we needed him the entire 4th quarter. If we had put him in a lot earlier, he probably would've gotten some rest in the 4th quarter, and still end up with the same amount of minutes played.

With Lopez, it's entirely different. He never even tried to be a 3pt shooter for the first 8 years of his career because he didn't need to. it was his 9th year when he decided to add the 3pt shot to his game, and he's been hitting them consistently every year after at a decent rate.

With Sabonis, he's been trying to add the 3pt shot to his game every year since he's joined the league. However, he has never been able to get the shot down consistently.

It's not happening unfortunately.

The only players I see out there with a complete lack of emotion and/or bombast are Jokic and Leonard, and you're never going to have me pointing to those guys as the standard. There's also enough history to not be concerned. Huerter's always been an incredibly streaky player. Hell, last season he started the year looking like red headed Steph. He's been bad from the field to start the year but the reason Mike Brown has been so hard on him on improving his defense is precisely because the team believes in and accepts his streaky nature and wants to figure out a way to have him contribute when the shot isn't falling.

He had by far his best season as a pro last year in the regular season. People just blindly forgetting how good he is, is damn shameful. And he's been a starting-caliber NBA player his entire career.

Of course, he was garbage in the playoffs. I talked about that extensively during the off-season. So no, I don't give a crap about 2 bad games. He's got damn near 300+ games of him being excellent and 75 games of him being damn good in a Kings uni. Outside of the playoffs last year, what "history" of him being bad is there? In an actual large sample?

Sucks Kings fans always have to have a scapegoat to lump all their problems on. If we move on from him, it's not because he "sucks" or "isn't a starting caliber NBA player". It's to rebalance the starting 5 and add a more premium defender to the grouping/core.
