The thing about Giddey is that while he’s got an elite feel for the game, he just doesn’t have Luka/Harden-style agility/the downhill gear. As he fills out, he might be more of a 4 than a wing.

I think he has enough. If he gets a shot it's over. he'll be hard to stop at his size. If he doesn't he'll still be impactful with his size and physical style.

Well, at this point I suppose I'm a fool. But I've been a fool before and I'm pretty sure I'll be a fool again, so I'm not too worried about it.

When did you become a GM? Hey do you want a Harkless/Tristan package by chance? lol.

And BTW, just so it was clear, "anyone" was referring to actual NBA GM's.

Dwane Casey would be proud. He pretty much figured out who was sucking the worst and put them all in at the start of the 4th. Competition for a top 4 pick going to be brutal guys.

we were in the middle of a dire losing stretch this exact time last year as well before rattling off a meaningless win streak (meaningless to everything other than lotto position at least). Most Kings things possible would be a post-deadline rally (possibly led by a resurgent Fox returning from phantom injury) locking up the 10th worst record

Oh, most certainly it's a gamble from here on. If they come up just short 2 seasons in a row? Bye Monte. It already kind of sucks for him that he's potentially going to take the downfall for a 16 year playoff drought.

And with the Top 4 gone, I'd be happy with one of Davis/Griffin/Mathurin/Brown.

Just like last year I would've been happy with Barnes/Kuminga/Giddey.

The 10th pick would be more of the same, playing yourself out of not only the A tier, but the B tier.

folks around here would’ve hated Petrie lol… Peja was his third or fourth draft I think and Webber / divac / jwill didn’t come together til year 4 or 5. Sometimes the right player or deal isn’t there and until Monte makes an actually bad move it’s hard to pin this on him

reality is the delusion has stemmed from Vivek from day one and it’s unfair to take any heat off him. If Monte & co wanted to blow this up do you think there’s any chance Vivek would ever sign off on that? Rot is coming from the same place it always has

Just like anyone was delusional thinking Monte actually wanted to keep Walton as his coach. First sign of a losing streak, he dumps him 17 games in after the team actually played pretty well the first 10-11 games of the year.

Clear sign of a cash-strapped org trying to save money rather than build up the team correctly and how the "guy in charge" actually wants.

big facts, Vivek is a clown and until that changes things will stay the same. Maybe Monte can somehow hang on till year 3 or 4 and it’s possible this team becomes a, dare I say it? Starts with the letter P! Play-in team baby!

he has the personal chef part right. now he just needs that motivation to hit the weights to the point where it doesn't affect his game.
From what I can tell getting buff won’t really affect his game. He’s not super fast or even jumps high. Becoming rock solid will do wonders for him and possibly may make him a little more explosive

About the only thing I can genuinely be mad at with Monte for is the Wright for TT move. Seems to have been a clear downgrade from the moment it was conceived. We even had to sit on it for a bit and still executed it. I hate that deal.

But yes, otherwise I think he's playing chess with the roster. He had a few deals get killed last minute, but he's been patient rather than free wheeling and if nothing else it is going to keep us from getting stuck with a Westbrook situation of our own.

I'd say this is wild, but it really isn't. Lets Barnes play his real position for big minutes and Harkless is one of the best defenders on the team (as sad as that is).

Of course it isn't.

It was obvious even to Walton that with the way this roster is constructed that was the way to go.

He just panicked when they went on a slide and flipped the script and made Metu/Bagley a thing. But that slide was always liable to happen because this is still a bad roster. And Gentry never went back to it.

Alas, too little too late.

I think I'd be cool with this win if it were our young guys leading it.

Instead it's guys like Barnes, Harkless, Holmes, Hield, and Jones contributing to the win.

Why can't we just play the young guys- Ramsey, King, Queta.

I really really hope a lot of these vets are gone by the deadline.

I can't fault the players for playing hard, I just want this team to head in the right direction for once.

No we will hold onto these vets and let them rot with this team. Then they will leave for free or trade for some scrubs/2nd rd picks/cash consideration. Meanwhile the rebuilding teams who are accumulating assets and talent in the right way will leap through us one by one.

I'm willing to give Monte a chance this season, and I guess Vivek for that matter.

I think this trade deadline will be very telling.
